  1. You can't treat last season like Andrew Vaughn did nothing. The typical movement would have seen Vaughn go from High A to AAA by the end of the year. His normal spot this year would be either breaking camp after signing an extension or coming up in a month without one. He did go to the Covid camp and did get a ton of experience against high end talent and pitching. That also can't be ignored. The Sox know better than anyone if he is ready or not. They will tip their hand over the course of the next month or so with one simple action. Do they sign a DH or not. if not, they think Vaughn is ready.
  2. I am old enough to remember when elections had consquences... other than riots from the losing party.
  3. You literally gave us a stat in save percentage, as the reason that Colome is a better option.
  4. I just went back and looked it up, Paulie's final payment for deferred money was 2020. He got a million a year from 14-20.
  5. I would have been fine with bringing Colome back, but I think the body of evidence shows clearly that Hendriks is better. Personally I would have rather gone a bit cheaper on the back end, and spent that money in the rotation, but that isn't up to me.
  6. The Senate was set up to be "rigged". I get that.
  7. But since we are talking about blown saves in middle relief time, we aren't comparing apples to apples.
  8. Considering we already know the problems that Colome is having with his shoulder, I think the expectation that Hendriks stays healthier than Colome is a safe bet.
  9. The problem is, if you aren't a closer, you don't get a chance to get saves, only to blow them, which skews the stats.
  10. Sure, but the problem is that save percentage isn't really all up to the closer. If a closer comes in with a runner at second and then an error happens to let the run score, that is a blown save. How closers are used really matters in how their save percentages look. If you want a football example, would you hold blocked kicks due to a horrible offensive line against a kicker?
  11. If you look at the history of DC, I think the founders had a fear that having a federal capital inside of a state would provide some sort of an unfair benefit to some state. I think in 2021, we can get past that fear. I think the idea of just absorbing the District into the existing states of VA and MD makes sense, and would solve all of the problems for the residents of DC, without creating any of the political fall out. PR is a different story.
  12. You really don't remember then. There were multiple tries during the Obama administration to get PR in for sure.
  13. It amazes me how they get away with acting like they are the only ones with a right to be upset about what is going on in this country. Six months ago they were ready to send the National Guard into cities because of protests. Now they are indignant that they didn't get to topple the government.
  14. Forget QB. The Bears need an offensive line. They really need to rebuild that before they worry about a franchise QB.
  15. This is where someone should be able to be charged with a crime.
  16. They have had a roster crunch going on for a while now, and are also running into issues with players running out of options. It would be interesting to see if we put together a volume type of deal to free up some slots.
  17. With that contract in 2021, that would be terrible.
  18. This is an amazing compromise. I know the Sox have worked something like this before, though not to this scale. It seems like Paul Konerko got like a million a year for 4 or 5 years after he retired, and we might have turned someone else's buyout into something similar IIRC. Credit to Rick for getting creative to get this done.
