  1. So Pablo Ozuna should have been our #3 hitter after last Spring Training then? Ozuna's line from ST last year: 55 AB's | .527 AVG | .544 OBP | .655 SLG | .1199 OPS Spring Training stats don't mean enough to set the lineup by them. Even if Dye hits better than Thome in Spring Training, it won't make Dye a better #3 hitter than Thome.

  3. I haven't read through this entire thread so I don't know if this has been posted or not but this is horrible... http://dickhunt.ytmnd.com/
  4. Sham-Me is full of s*** until the end. If he truly thought that he could still do it and money isn't an issue, why wouldn't he accept the Nationals' offer? Because he truly doesn't think that he can earn a roster spot in Spring Training without the benefit of steroids.
  5. The loss of Molina will hurt them more than they think. I didn't buy into the A's last season but I think they will win the division this year. The Angels may keep it close but will probably end up contending for the Wild Card.
  6. I know, I was just messing around. The whole point of these lame previews is just how they think the teams will finish as they currently are constructed on paper. Most of the trades have died down and the last remaining decent free agent (Jeff Weaver) has signed so they feel that the rosters are set enough to project the 2006 standings. Afterall, Spring Training play doesn't help their predictions much. The White Sox went 14-18 in ST last year. These predictions are purely based on the current on-paper rosters and a lot of what the players did last season. Great article though. One just has to look at last year's predictions on the A.L. Central to see how poor they can be. But that's why they are called "predictions."
  7. It worked for Millwood the last time I checked.
  8. Check out the A.L. East preview and you'll see why... http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writ...view/index.html
  9. Pretty crazy idea. Anderson hasn't proven anything in the majors yet but Borchard has?
  10. And he hit a pathetic .176!!!
  11. $123,568,000 over his entire career according to Baseball-Reference.com. That's not including endorsements.
  12. The Nationals don't even think that Sosa is worth as much as what Timo earned last season... Sosa rejects Nationals' offer Slugger turns down one-year, $500,000 non-guaranteed deal http://washington.nationals.mlb.com/NASApp...t=.jsp&c_id=was
  13. Boras is still Weaver's agent. Weaver and Boras were probably looking for a fat 5-year deal like Burnett but they couldn't find any takers. So Weaver will try to have a good year and go for another big deal next offseason.
  14. Angels Sign Weaver to 1-Year, $8.5-Million Contract http://www.latimes.com/sports/baseball/mlb...-home-headlines

  17. The problem is that our pitching staff was the main reason we won those 1-run games. If they don't all have amazing years again, we won't win the majority of those 1-run games like we did last season. We may need more of a cushion this season if the pitching staff regresses a bit. And the reason we didn't win anything from 2002-2004 wasn't because of our offense. It was mostly because of our crappy pitching.
  18. Because of a small sample size of 45 AB's? I'd rather look at Dye's career numbers which aren't really good enough to be a #3 hitter. #3 Thome (.970 career OPS) #4 Konerko (.837 career OPS) #5 Dye (.803 career OPS)
  19. Mackowiak has a pretty good arm. I was watching some of the old Pirates clips at MLB.com and he was gunning it from RF in a couple of them. His arm is definately stronger than Rowand's and Podsednik's. Also... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/scouting?statsId=6725

  21. That cartoon kicked ass but the idea wouldn't work. None of these lefties has the "control" ring.
