  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 9, 2011 -> 10:27 PM) Yeah, but they also returned a punt for a td with 2 minutes left to make it a closer game. And secondly, it's not like those 3rd down stats and sacks allowed stats are all that out of the ordinary for the Bears. They had several games like that. I don't see how you can hold it against them that the greatest return man in the NFL history made it a closer game.
  2. QUOTE (G&T @ Jan 9, 2011 -> 09:00 PM) Well give it another shot since you have them anyway. Try some hoppier beers which will be far more assertive. That might be your fancy. Again, I'm so glad we did this list. Gumballhead and Dead Guy Ale are so delicious. Definitely going to be going out and getting those more often.
  3. Bears were 0-12 on 3rd down and gave up a safety and 6 sacks to the Seahawks and lost by 3 points.
  4. QUOTE (G&T @ Jan 9, 2011 -> 08:36 PM) It's not a bad batch. They are far too consistent for that. Make sure to get enough yeast out that the beer is opaque in the glass. It's very possible that you don't care for white ales. There's nothing wrong with that. Then, years from now, you can't get enough of them. Beer is wonderful. Could be very possible that I'm just not a fan. Kind of a shame, because I really want to be. I had big expectations.
  5. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jan 9, 2011 -> 08:12 PM) ......................nope. Let's try that again. Tries it. Didn't make a huge difference. Still just seems really, really bland and flavorless. Closer to mineral water than anything else I can describe. I've got for 4 more bottles, so I'll give it a shot tomorrow. Could be a bad batch.
  6. QUOTE (G&T @ Jan 9, 2011 -> 08:10 PM) Did you follow the instructions to swirl out the yeast? ......................nope. Let's try that again.
  7. The last week, I tried: Sam Adams Winter Lager Smithwick's Rogue Dead Guy Ale Hoegaarden Just cracked open my 1st Hoegaarden and I'm not a big fan thus far. Just seems really bland. But I'll have another before I make a final judgement. The other 3 I really enjoyed, especially the Dead Guy Ale.
  8. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jan 9, 2011 -> 12:10 AM) If that's what you want... LMFAO, someone is a little overconfident after a win. Oh yeah, you're still 8-9 and won't be hosting anymore opponents. Good luck with that.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 7, 2011 -> 10:52 PM) People have been saying that about S.F. for seemingly 5 years. Eh, mainly the last 2 years. They were a consensus favorite in the west this year and things just fell apart. They badly need a QB.
  10. Harbaugh is apparently close to taking his talents to South Beach.
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 6, 2011 -> 04:14 PM) But if you don't know and you aren't provided with assurances, than you might not get paid for an entire year. A year in which you play no football and aren't able to grow. The other way around, you further your education and can continue to make strides and get paid. The lockout is a pretty legitimate reason to stay in college or at least to consider staying in college. Again, depends on the circumstances and I can't pretend to be an expert on them. If I was an athlete coming out of college though, wouldn't you be scared that the potential money given for rookies could be much, much lower than it has been the last couple years. I would look at it as nothing has changed YET, so now is the time. And guys can definitely work out and train privately if there was no season. Obviously it's nothing like NFL practices and games, but look at what (ugh) Tebow did last year before he ever got paid.
  12. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 6, 2011 -> 04:09 PM) Pretty sure a horrible lockout is very very close to a certainty. Same thing for the NBA. Sure it's likely, but theres no way, as you mentioned above, that there won't be some sort of assurance to players coming out of college. And it's still possible that no regular season games will be missed.
  13. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 6, 2011 -> 11:15 AM) LOL, the whole Russian team got kicked off their flight for being too unruly (read: drunk). Way to live up the stereotype guys! Epic collpase by Canada though, and they take the Juniors pretty seriously. There's a stereotype about drunk Russians???
  14. QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Jan 6, 2011 -> 08:22 AM) Don't listen to 24/7. Boudreau told a white lie on that one. 4 was the longest losing streak last year. You know, I was kinda wondering about that. I don't remember them ever having a horrible stretch like that last year. Shoulda looked it up myself. Oops.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 6, 2011 -> 04:02 PM) I still haven't gotten an answer on the "What money" part? Come on Balta, you're just assuming that a horrible lockout is certain. He's going to get his money, one way or another. And it'll be a lot.
  16. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jan 6, 2011 -> 05:35 AM) right after the knicks loss. i do not recall any really bad calls in that game. knicks beat them fair and square. we have different perspectives. that's all. You serious???
  17. QUOTE (bulokis @ Jan 6, 2011 -> 01:36 AM) 2 d-men down and we still lost. This season is definitely not looking magical. It's obviously far from a lost season, and they have a lot of work to do, but it isn't anything that can't be fixed. The penalties have killed them the last few games, that is first and foremost. Those are things you can avoid. The power play is first in the NHL but the penalty kill is slowly dropping lower and lower, again, something that can be fixed. Dallas' first 3 goals tonight were on the PP and their 4th was an empty net. I think all but 1 of the Kings' goals the other night were on the PP as well, with the opening Handzus goal being just seconds after it expired. Things just really haven't been bouncing their way lately though, and every team goes through stretches like this. It's not like they've been getting dominated at every facet of the game. Teams are scoring a lot of garbage goals against them. The Hawks lost 9 in a row at one point last season, IIRC. They're healthy (knock on wood) which is extremely important. Now is when they need to get a little run going, to build that team chemistry even more. I think Coach Q has stuggled a lot trying to find good line combinations. Eventually they'll come. They can surely use another D-man though.
  18. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 5, 2011 -> 02:07 PM) This is now, without a doubt, my most hated subject on Soxtalk that just won't go away. I couldn't agree more.
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 5, 2011 -> 06:45 PM) 11-7, 2.46 ERA, 158 Ks in 153 2/3 innings from May 30 through the end of the season. Even more impressive was that he allowed only 120 hits in those same amount of innings. Man the D-backs front-office has really dropped the ball the last 3-4 years. That team had dynasty imprinted all over it. Hey, they have Dan Hudson though!
  20. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 5, 2011 -> 10:18 PM) On no planet was Jackson better than Hudson last year. Jackson has never had an 11-start run like Hudson did last year. And before you go into the AL/NL crap. Check the teams each pitcher faced after the trade and tell me who pitched against tougher teams. Hint, it wasn't Jackson. Oh my goodness.
  21. I stood next to Corey McPherrin tonight at the UC in the urinal line. He definitely noticed that I knew who he was.
  22. Unbelievable... http://www.csnchicago.com/01/05/11/Post-pr...&feedID=661 I saw this happen right in front of me before the 3rd. Just an extremely awkward collision and the moments after were even funnier. Skrastins was rattled, no doubt. Came right off the ice. Niskanen got up and looked extremely pissed.
  23. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 5, 2011 -> 06:17 PM) If you can keep the players for more than one year, then you absolutely have to keep Bryant. If it's a one-year thing, then I might stand pat. You have no idea how the Carolina RB situation will play out or how bad they will be. Romo or Freeman could be a solid backup QB, but Rivers is a stud, and maybe he will have some healthy WRs & Gates all year. It's a one year keeper thing, but as long as he's on my roster, I can keep him for as long as the league exists. Right now, I'm thinking about standing pat with the 5. The 2 I'd debate on keeping would be Stewart and Bryant (Maybe one of the QB, but doubtful), with my thinking being that I could likely just re-draft them next year.
