3:10 to Yuma is another great Christian Bale movie. Loved it.

QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Dec 26, 2007 -> 03:52 PM) Wouldnt it be fun if he beat the Flubs in next years playoffs to eliminate them? Wouldn't it be fun if he went back to dominating form and the Cubs missed the playoffs?

I really hope that Paxson doesn't think this will make this team turn around. If he thinks it's a need for a new coach, and not new players, then he needs to be fired as well. I feel bad for Skiles. Makes the playoffs 3/4 years with the Bulls, 2/3 with the Suns, and he gets his ass booted from both organizations. He's a good coach. These dumbass players these days who are so selfish and care about themselves rather then their team is what makes him get fired. He's an old school, hard-nosed coach, and these b****y players these days like Tyrus Thomas just can't handle it. It's a shame.

100 games and he already has a tribute video. He's destined to be a White Sox legend...

The White Sox and Alexei Ramírez agree to 4 year deal

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Dec 22, 2007 -> 01:08 AM) Hell, I don't care what you post. I asked you opinion as to what the White Sox were looking from him for a reason. What do they see him becoming? Did they really sign him with the intensions of him becoming their future utility player or do they have greater expectations for him? I also don't see the point of someone in the White Sox organization posting things like this on a message board, although I do appreciate it, I am not sure why the White Sox would want that to happen or let it continue. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Dec 22, 2007 -> 01:58 AM) As someone hired to shore-up the player development department (Minor League Player Development & Amateur Players), this would seem like it would fit under what you should know. Shouldn't you know why this signing was made and what they expect out of this player long-term? I know your not front office, but someone that was hired to shore up player developement - minor leage and amateur players - this seems like it would fall under that category and you should know something about it. I truly hope your superiors are smiling and laughing when they read what your writing. I wish no ill will towards anyone. I really do appreciate your feedback and posting - I am just not sure why the White Sox would want it and why you feel the need to do it; however neither is my business and, like I said, I appreciate the information and posts. Give it a flipping rest man. -
Just saw American Gangster. I liked it, the ending wasn't bad as I didn't know the back story, but I thought Denzel did a great job as usual. Wasn't as great as everyone made it out out to be, but it was good. Upcoming on my list of movies to watch: 3:10 to Yuma (I desperately want to see this) and Into The Wild.

I gotta say I like this off the top. Low risk, high reward guy, just like KW loves to get. Hopefully this guy has it and becomes a great player for us. Can't really say much until we see him on the field, but it's exciting to hear. I logged on today hoping to see a move made and I was pleasantly surprised. -
I saw I Am Legend today and I liked it a lot. Definitely one of the better movies I've seen in a while. Will Smith was great and the whole premise of it really had me from the beginning. CGI wasn't that[/] terrible, better than Spider-Man 3, I'd say. Also, put me on the list of people who can't wait for The Dark Knight to come out. I was so pleasantly surprised with Batman Begins (now one of my favorite movies), combined with my man-love for Christian Bale, and the amazing amazing amazing amazing trailer they have released, can it be Summer 2008 yet?

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 02:38 AM) That is a firesale, but to me a firesale is like what the Marlins did after 1997, they had a ton to trade, traded it, and got a lot of tools that helped them in 2003 at all levels. That's not true at all. The only players who were on that 2003 team that came from the post-1997 WS Fire Sale were Braden Looper/Armando Almanza (Renteria to STL), Derrek Lee (Brown to SD), and A.J. Burnett (Leiter to NYM). Considering they traded Sheffield, Conine, Johnson, Leiter, Bonilla, Renteria, Brown, Nenn, White, Alou, and a slew of others, I'd say that isn't the best example.

Grand Valley got it's 40 game winning streak snapped tonight against NW Missouri State. An undefeated season, ranked #1 the entire time, and we have to go on the road in the semi-finals against the 5th seed in the playoffs? WTF! -

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 03:30 AM) atleast you beat the piss out of UND in the playoffs. I cannot stand that team. I actually went to high school for a year with Weston Dressler, but I absolutely cannot stand the guy on the football field (mainly because he's so good) sry, off-topic and talking D2 football, that's ridiculous Yeah, then we beat Central Washington by 20 after their quarterback Mike Reilly guaranteed a victory. Someone in our student section had a sign that read "Reilly Hearts 2 Girls 1 Cup". It was hilarious.

QUOTE(bigruss22 @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 09:27 PM) Good to hear, its just some rumors that ive heard that are nice to clear up. Everything that Ive heard about GVSU otherwise has been great, and I really like the idea of so many new buildings, seems like some top facilities are there now. Do you ever get to go west to the beaches at all? They try to sell that in their pamphlets, and I was wondering if they have good spots to go with adequate transportation to get their. Yeah, there are a ton of beaches in and around Grand Haven and Holland and they are all right off Lake Michigan Drive (Route 45). The Rapid bus goes that way but I'm not 100% sure how far it goes, usually I'll get a ride from a friend. The beaches are very nice when it's warm out and there are tons of girls, especially on the weekends in Grand Haven. I know there are 2 routes that function on campus all the time. The 50 connects the main campus in Allendale to the Grand Rapids campus. Thats about a 20 minute ride. Then there is the 37 that takes you around the campus if you want and it also goes to all the off-campus apartments right of W. Campus Drive.

QUOTE(bigruss22 @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 07:45 PM) Actually, the football team is quite good, and Ive heard that they would do pretty well in D1. Hows the racism stuff there? Ive heard of many complaints about GVSU having race problems in the past, have they cleared up? Im white, but I just dont really tolerate blind racism. Thanks everybody for the responses so far! Yeah, the football team is 1 win away from being in another national championship game. Racism wise, I haven't seen or heard of anything like that since I've been here. There's some segregation, as in the black people hang out with black people and white people hang out with white people, but there is no animosity or anything from either group. I personally love it here. Meal plans are sweet, you're never far away from a cafeteria, the housing is new, we've got like 4 new building being built, and the campus is gorgeous.

Grand Valley State Our football team is kind of a big deal, albeit DIV II.

QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 03:42 PM) No, it wouldn't be good at all. Owings is nothing special as a starter. I like the idea of getting Kotchman and one of the Angels starters much more. Jackson and Kotchman are pretty similar, but the Angels aren't going to give up one of their top young starters for Konerko if they won't even move them for Cabrera. -
The Washington Post reports that the Nationals will only be giving up a minor leaguer for Elijah Dukes. It looks like the Rays decided enough was enough and simply salvaged what little they could after Dukes' latest incident in the Dominican Republic. Tampa Bay wanted to open up a roster spot anyway, so the player the team gets back probably won't be on the 40-man roster. Source: Washington Post Dukes, Milledge, Pena, Kearns, Langerhans...
