  1. It was iffy, over the shoulder running with his back to the infield and nearly made a basket catch, would have been a helluva play if he made it. Does Chase make it? Potentially, but not certain.
  2. What is the point of any of this? Every thread on SoxTalk is merely symbolic of how another year's gone by and how little we've grown, no matter how desperate we are that someday a better team will emerge, with each flicker of the fireworks behind the scoreboard, we know it's not to be, that for the rest of our sad, wretched, pathetic lives, this is who we are to the bitter end, inevitably, irrecovacly, Go White Sox? No such thing.
  3. Oh had Hudson not faced the min yet? I guess I didn't realize that, my bad.
  4. I have a bottle of Lagavulin reserved for the day I read that obituary.
  5. I'm not sure of the exact figures, but there's been a slew of articles about baseball ratings overtaking the NBA recently, or at least closing the gap. A stoppage would likely wash most of that away for years.
  6. I found it very Grifol-esque of Will to leave Hudson in against Elly last night when Elly has been killing LHP this year and clearly Hudson is cooked. Rough game for Will last night.
  7. Why does it feel like every time in my life the Sox are ready to be awesome there is a lockout of some kind, i.e. 1994, 2020, 2027? Baseball has overtaken the NBA in popularity during this supposed crisis, are the owners really willing to piss that away? I sure hope not.
  8. Yeah I would definitely inlcude those as well, couldn't remember if they came out before of after.
  9. I often cite this as the last funny movie ever made. You'd never be able to get away with half the sh*t they say in here today!
  10. Part of me really wants to see Sam and Chase bat 1-2 every night. Chase is basically the prototypical #2 hitter of yesteryear that has gone out of style, Mune does have a better OBP than Chase, but I feel like Chase is so hard to strike out and goes deep into counts that he would really thrive in that role and benefit the team.
  11. Not that anybody cares, but my Uncle Jim was roommates with the Pope at Seminary High in MI and at Villanova. Jim is a huge Sox fan still and keeps in touch with "Bob" a bit, but not as much lately for obvious reasons.
  12. John Salley once said that the only teammate he ever had that he would confidently say did not cheat on their wife was Mark Price.
  13. I recall writing on this site during his prime that I couldn't wait to never watch him play again. I remember being told I would have to wait a really long time for that, it was even faster than I had hoped. In my meaningless opinion, he never played the game the right way, flicked off fans multiple times, never put in the effort to get better, never even had the desire to learn proper footwork defensively, thought he was bigger than the game and that his raw talent was enough to net him a 9 figure payday. Tim was already cooked when Jose laid him out (to me it was the bad Hanser Alberto play where he jacked up his knee that truly was the beginning of the end), but the fact that Jose Ramirez, who to me exemplifies the way baseball is meant to be played putting the final nail in his coffin was the storybook ending that Tim deserved.
  14. What are you doing with Chase then? He's pretty awesome with the glove there.
  15. Speaking of nicknames, did anybody catch Plesac mention golfing with Craig "Little Hurt" Grebeck yesterday and Schriffen clearly having no idea who he is? I need my next Sox announcer to know things like this.
  16. Yeah he would really sell the dig in every pitch, the Bronze Titan was fun to watch when he had his good stuff for sure.
  17. I keep reading that there's a dearth of RHH OFs, but somehow nobody would give us anything for Hays of Periera, oh well.
  18. I read that LAD just made Roki Sasaki use a bigger glove so it's more difficult to pick up on a tip. Let's send Davis out looking like this next start.
  19. The "isn't good when he does" is simply false, he's pretty damn good against LHP and total OPS+ of 106 for his career. I'd happily make the argument that Montgomery shouldn't be on the roster in a playoff push with his .600 something OPS, but Benintendi being unusable in the OF means Braden has to stay to man RF. I'll happily bet $10 that Hays is claimed.
  20. He stated FA signings, Peters was a trade.
  21. Newcomb should be in there too though, no?
  22. Have you already forgotten the sensational Rikuu Nishida? 😄
  23. Giving up on a career .282/.340/.477 against LHP you sunk $6M into for nothing when you struggle against LHP is head scratching to say the least.
  24. Was having the same thought last night. Hopefully this tipping stuff is the issue, but it's been a trend for months now. Boston is also good, so there's that. If we can hang on to the division I feel like Will is going to be forced to do some opener tricks to start games in the playoffs anyway.
  25. I'm going through IVF with my wife right now, hasn't been successful for about a year and a half and it's certainly taxing and I have my wife by my side most days. I can't imagine how painful losing a child at any age would be. There's this sense in the IVF circles that once the child is born you can relax a little so to spreak, but then you hear stuff like this where tragedy can strike at any moment. To say someone should put that all aside to focus on playing a child's game is a pretty brutal take.
