Just so you're made aware. Less than 5% of judicial nominees have been filibustered in the first four years of the Bush administration. Nearly one out of three nominees never made it to a vote in the last four years of the Clinton administration. Some Republicans are using religion as a weapon politically. Apparently in this case, using it to change the rules and stifle opposition in Congress. 44 Senate Democrats, Senator Jeffords, and McCain and Senator Lincoln Chafee are opposed to changing this rule.

Tagliabue: Super Bowl coming to Dallas soon
Rex Kickass replied to greasywheels121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
They should play the superbowl in outside fields up north... Soldier Field, Lambeau, Giants Stadium, Gilette.... -

I am 3: The Life of the Party. Bea Arthur is 7: The Intellectual.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 02:58 PM) I'm surprised by your age that you are as into Bea as you are. I had no idea you were a young kid. But I guess that makes more sense than my slight obsession with Lillian Gish. And your interest in 70's stuff helps make the Bea stuff more understandable. Bea Arthur is a comic genius. I love 70s kitch a lot, and my parents pop culture development stopped at about 1973. I wasn't allowed to listen to anything but Oldies until I got to 7th grade or so. There's something I see about the 1970's that we lack today. It's not because the decade was anything special, its just that a lot of things changed so radically in the 80s and 90s about the way we did things and the way children grew up. Everyday, I find it so shocking the way that things have changed so radically over the last few years.

It was about me, wasn't it?

My first tip that I might be "different" was when I would wake up early to watch "Jem" on TV and would turn "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" off right after.

Anyone remember the episode of Seinfeld where Kramer adopted a highway? Instead of four narrow lanes, two luxurious wide lanes!

And they won't let you go to RA training two days late?

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) I just found out today that my plant is shutting down and moving to Pittsburgh. I have no interest in moving there so I guess I am going to be without a job...Man I hate having to search for jobs...Good thing I have some money put away and will also get a severance package for my troubles... :banghead If we could just stop that giant sucking sound of Pennsylvania stealing all our jobs.... Sorry that your job situation got crappy. You can have my old job when I'm done with it if you want. Although I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy...

September 6, 1977 "Best of My Love" The Emotions. As an Oldies DJ and a general collector of 70s pop in all its awful sequined glory, I'm amazed I don't know this song.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 12:05 PM) This is strictly a test. If this forum turns into a pissing contest, we won't keep it. Inappropriate snark coming below: *zips back up* If it was snowing I could write my name...

The problem is that the law here is pretty clear. It's an all or nothing thing if the state does it. As much as I don't want NAMBLA, NORML or the KKK or for that matter the 700 Club adopting highways in my town, if my state wants a program, I have to let them as long as the group meets the state guidelines for the program. Equal rights and protections under the law do not disappear because you belong to an organization that 99+% of the public finds distasteful.

Nothing a few fresh coats of paint couldn't fix. I mean, they hold games at Wrigley and cement is falling off... -

QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 08:18 AM) And they are hurting.. we bought the smallest package to get AS tickets out near the Pepsi deck.. already got upgraded to seats down the 1st base line and they expect that we will get be able to get behind the AL dugout. Last year's I-Rod acquisition was a big boost for them sales wise, but this year they have to prove something to get a lot of those casual fans back. If they wanted to boost attendance, they should just move back to Tiger Stadium for a homestand a year.
