  1. Jerry's favorite pastime is trolling the fanbases of his teams. He has a great deal of contempt for the fans.
  2. Yeah and one of the teams that is better than them is Cleveland. Also, the ALC is and always has been a joke for the most part. If they're not contenders in the other 2 AL divisions then they're not contenders period. Winning the ALC by being the tallest dwarf is not an accomplishment worth celebrating.
  3. Truth. See: Arizona Coyotes There aren't a lot of untapped markets for a baseball team though. The reason I gravitate toward Charlotte is that the Knights have been there and the Sox affiliate for years and they might have a following there already. Maybe a new owner would want to fight for a bigger share of Chicago before jumping ship. That being said, it's probably easier to run a team like the Rays/A's in Charlotte than Chicago, and moving would give the owner small market draft picks and stuff.
  4. I saw somewhere that he's former Sox reliever Mike McDougal's son.
  5. I know you don't want to believe it, but it probably is true. If TLR were healthy he'd be back in 2023 and Menechino would have been the fall guy.
  6. Because the Cubs pretty much own Chicagoland. Best estimate I've got is 30% of Chicago baseball fans are Sox fans. That's based on Twitter followers, which is somewhat newfangled and doesn't represent older generations very well, but does the job to a certain degree. If the Sox moved to Charlotte they'd have a similar market and no competition.
  7. No, but it's a better option than deluding themselves into thinking that this roster can do something in the postseason.
  8. Idk why I even care anymore. Nobody really should. Ownership doesn't care about winning, so why should we care about the team?
  9. Sale for Moncada and Kopech Who says no? (for this exercise, assume Sale isn't the one saying no) (sarcasm intended)
  10. And the Sox from 00-08 finished worse than 2nd twice( once in a season they won 90 games btw) and won 3 division titles in that span. Also from 1990-2008 the Sox had the 5th highest winning percentage in baseball, despite only winning 4 divisions and one title. So was it really a fluke, or for one year did all of the right buttons get pushed?
  11. No. I think they could win the ALC but nothing beyond that. Their ceiling is getting curbstomped in the ALDS.
  12. Elon Musk is a fraud. Look into it. His only accomplishment is inheriting his father's blood money.
  13. They're all crooks. You don't become a Billionaire without being a crook.
  14. You don't become a Billionaire by running a squeaky clean business. They're all shady af.
  15. Hendriks for Mauricio, Tidwell and Hartwig. Mauricio is a potential long-term answer at 2B or SS, Tidwell is a ways away but has a lot of upside, and Hartwig is an older prospect that has already reached the upper minors and helps with depth there.
  16. I don't see how you can do that. It's basically punting the catcher position. How can you possibly count on Grandal to do anything other than DH?
  17. I hope the actual trade is Kelly for Escobar. Makes more sense than anything else.
  18. 70 heater and 70 slider? Yes, please. Worth a shot. If he sucks you just DFA him.
  19. I don't believe Eloy vs Wall's water carrying for Jerry's cheapness. I do think he's credible otherwise. That's what ownership WANTS the fanbase to think.
  20. Pearson and Crochet could be a nasty back end of the Bullpen. It sucks that GC isn't going to be back until July or August, but I think the Sox are considering trading Hendriks because of a) his elbow issues and b) They have faith in Crochet being the closer in 2024. However, I think that the more likely scenario for the catcher issue is Grandal for Perez in some form. The Royals could easily play Grandal at DH/1B while getting out of the last 2 years of Perez and starting Melendez at C. The issue with that deal is idk if it could be done straight up because of salary issues or the Sox would have to add because there's a possibility Grandal is just too injured. Another issue with that deal is that it makes the Sox more right handed.
  21. They've never had WS aspirations. It's always been "Make the playoffs and hope for the best." One year that got them a title, so now they think it can happen again.
