  1. When Robert is back do you think a Goodwin/Engel platoon is good enough?
  2. He's got to mix it up with the slider and curve a bit more.
  3. Same. I don't necessarily have an issue with Eloy in LF in theory, it's more that he has the potential to hurt himself and Robert/Engel when he's out there.
  4. This is the first game in a while where Gio looks like the 2019-20 version.
  5. I wonder why hitters are on Giolito's change so much more this year than in 2019-20.
  6. Just my opinion but Eloy/Vaughn/Sheets make a nice 1B/LF/DH combo. It all matters on what they're doing with Abreu after his current deal expires. If they're keeping Abreu, Sheets is trade bait. Tbh I'd just sell high on Burger/Sheets. Not sure Mercedes has any value other than a sweetener.
  7. Keuchel would have had a 4.3 ERA in Buehrle's days. Offenses were just better. Keuchel's numbers are inflated by the run scoring environment of the last 7 years or so.
  8. Has Lopez found something? Maybe they can trade him to someone as a flier.
  9. It's so frustrating when he swings at bullshit, because he's completely capable of walks like that one.
  10. Buehrle did his work in a much better run scoring environment. Offenses were better when Buehrle pitched. During Buehrle's days, a 4.50 ERA was a #3-4 starter and 5th starters had an ERA around 5 and it was acceptable.
  11. I'm not necessarily saying he will, but I'd think that guys with iffy command to begin with would be affected more. Cease falls into that category, as does Giolito. Mods, could we move this into the "sticky substances" thread? Thanks.
  12. Ever heard of small sample size? Not enough data to be statistically significant yet. I'm not completely dismissing his improvements this year, I said I need to see more. I understand why those who do would though.
  13. Everyone's not going to get worse by the same factor. Some pitchers it will affect more than others, some will barely be affected, and some will completely suck after the ban.
  14. Idk how much of his success was due to sticky stuff? I said let's wait and see. Of course he can get better, I'm not saying that. There are some players whose entire success was based on them using substances. It remains to be seen who they are, but there's some evidence for them. Sticky stuff is for pitchers as roids were for hitters. Some of them it just made them better, others their entire success was because of it.
  15. It's not absurd, because sticky stuff and that his peripherals were awful up until this season. I have to see more. Not saying I agree with it, just that I understand that POV.
  16. I do not, I think Cease has more value than Pederson, just because of the team control and stuff. I completely understand viewing Cease as a 26 year old failed prospect with a great arm though. However, if team control and stuff were all that mattered, then prospects would never get traded. The Sox aren't trading Cease anyway. They have enough problems in their rotation over the next few years.
  17. Other people were saying Bernstein was nuts and I was saying that I understood where he was coming from. Then everyone attacked me and I reacted defensively, instead of actually having a rational discussion about it.
  18. Yeah, we disagree about pretty much everything, which is why we don't talk much on the board anymore. I respect your POV, just disagree with it.....a lot.
