Hitters can sit fastball and destroy it. If that's the case, his breakers don't matter really. Cease is one guy where you have to look at hitters reaction to his stuff rather than the radar gun. Hint: hitters are all over his shit.

What makes Giolito's changeup so deadly is that his fastball has elite carry and the pitches tunnel for 50 feet. There was a Pitching Ninja overlay of Giolito's fastball/change and it was incredible how long they stay on the same plane.

I know, right? What's weird is that he has a high spin rate but bad carry. Contrast that with Giolito who has a below average spin rate but elite carry.

I'm not sure Cease will ever be a decent MLB starter. His fastball is too hittable. Even at 97-99 mph it still looks like a beach ball to hitters.

Cease isn't missing horribly but he's still missing. Also hitters still teeing up on his fastball when it's a strike.

I'm pretty sure they're going to do it, but we'll see if it works.

I'm no pro athlete or anything, but I've had 4 surgeries on my feet in the last 2 years and from personal experience, muscle atrophy is a b****. It took me 15 months to feel normal.
