  1. I think the term you're looking for is: "He couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat!"
  2. I think you speak for most of the fanbase on that one. Myself included. However, we have to be realistic about what Jerry will actually do.
  3. Probably not. It looks like it will be a normal rotation with Lopez/Rodon/Kopech/Crochet all piggybacking off of each other in the 5th spot based on availability. It's up to La Russa to make sure Kopech and Crochet get their innings.
  4. Right, it never goes to plan. But anyway, I'd imagine if one of the top 4 guys gets hurt, then either Rodon or Lopez will stretch out to take their spot and Crochet/Kopech and the other guy will piggyback for the other start. It sounds like they're carrying 14 pitchers and 12 hitters, as this is the only way this stuff makes sense, which means that it may be time for them to give up on Collins if he doesn't show something.
  5. It looks like what's going to happen is that they want Kopech and Crochet available in August and September, so it may end up that they're kind of running a 6 starter plan. Giolito Keuchel Lynn Cease Rodon/Lopez-these guys will start normally or be available out of the bullpen. Kopech/Crochet-one guy will be an opener for 3+ the other will go 2+, with the goal to get both guys up to 140 innings by the end of the season and have them be available out of the bullpen in October. So what it looks like is that Rodon/Lopez/Kopech/Crochet will all be 3-4 inning guys that are available both out of the bullpen and they'll all piggyback off of each other based on who has been used when.
  6. That's why a lot of fans are disappointed about them only going out and getting Lynn and bringing back Rodon this winter. They needed someone more reliable than Rodon to shore up the back end. They really believe in Cease/Kopech/Crochet it seems, but can they really dedicate one spot to two guys like that while trying to win? It seems like the plan is to run Giolito/Keuchel/Lynn/Cease and mess around with Kopech/Crochet/Lopez/Rodon in the 5th spot. I'd imagine if Rodon or Lopez are pitching well enough to hold down the 5th spot, then Kopech/Crochet will go to Charlotte to get their innings.
  7. Not really. They're going to piggyback Kopech and Crochet as a combined starter for 6 innings it seems in that case. He said they're going to use them like the Dodgers use Julio Urias.
  8. Based on what I've heard from Hahn, Kopech and Crochet are on the same plan.
  9. It's never the company's fault. Don't you know that? Shhhhhh.
  10. I know it's a small town, but that's pretty representative of attitudes down there from my experiences. Maybe you can tell me otherwise. I'd imagine it's not much different than the urban/rural splits elsewhere.
  11. Holy fucking shit. Texans are fucked if that’s what their politicians are thinking.
  12. That's what I meant by Texas exceptionalism. They're too busy being economic libertarians and playing Republic of Texas to actually be prepared for a situation like this. They think that's what makes them special.
  13. This situation is the direct result of Texas exceptionalism and years of coddling Big Oil/ignoring climate change. It's up to the people of Texas to realize the error of their ways and hold the leadership accountable for this horrible situation. This WILL happen again in a few years and I can only hope that more people in that state wise up.
  14. Cutting Hicks could definitely be on the table, depending on how much JJ Watt wants to sign for and the emergence of Bilal Nichols. They don't have a replacement for Fuller so extending him and spreading the money out is probably the way to go there. Idk what to do with Mack's money. He's probably not going anywhere over the life of his contract because he's still good(9 sacks while playing injured all season) so messing with his guaranteed money by kicking the can down the road a few years doesn't hurt you much.
  15. Kyle Trask may not even make it to the Bears 2nd round pick, let alone their 3rd. QBs are always overdrafted. Wouldn't surprise me in the least for a team to trade up into the late 1st to grab Mac Jones and Trask because they want the 5th year option for their QBs. That's always a consideration.
  16. If you believe Hahn, they said that they do not rebuild without making that trade, so as much as it hurts, I'm at peace with it. We have a joke on this site that Tatis is Voldemort, you should never speak his name. You know who or He who shall not be named are acceptable.
  17. Sorry, was ball busting, not trying to be an asshole.
