This game is an epic failure by the defense. They should be feasting on this kid, not get torched.

So does Markkanen suck or is he just having a bad year? He was much better the last 2 years.

Burr DFA'd
Actually after a little thought, read above.

That is different because ATM is automatic teller machine and if you add an S to the end it actually does pluralize it. ATMs is ok because the last word is the word that gets pluralized. Machine is the main noun. The difference between RBI, DFA and ATM is that the first letter is the pluralized or tensed form.

DFA is always DFA because it's either Designate For Assignment or Designated for Assignment RBI is always RBI because it's either Run Batted In or Runs Batted in The acronym has the pluralization/tense built in. Laser is an example of an acronym that has become a word in and of itself, but I wouldn't go that far with this example. Adding an S to RBI and an ed to DFA is redundant and unnecessary. fight me.

Zack Wheeler: To the Phils (5yr 118); Sox had made BIGGER offer
Oh shut up. I want them to land someone. I am very skeptical that they'll spend over $100M for any player until they do it multiple times. Even if they do it once that isn't enough for me.

Zack Wheeler: To the Phils (5yr 118); Sox had made BIGGER offer
I think that's beyond their comfort zone to be honest. I don't think I've ever seen the Sox go beyond their comfort zone with any player since Albert Belle.

It's still "an RBI" because the letter is R which which is phonetically pronounced "AR". Which begins with a vowel and uses the prefix an. An X(ex) An M (em) An F (ef) An R (ar) are all proper I'm not the fuhrer of the grammar nazis, but I'm pretty high up in the ranks lol.

Dylan Bundy on the Move
They have no MLB ready LHSP. You'd have to think that they're going to want one. I'd understand why they wouldn't, but to me it seems like they're the team that would care about handedness in the rotation.
-
Dylan Bundy on the Move
Both. If they trade for Bundy, that would mean a couple of things: 1a. Their top SP target is either Bumgarner or Keuchel. OR 1b. They hate the SP market completely and would rather trade for upgrades there. 2. Lopez, Dunning or both are on the block How would everyone feel if the upgrades this winter were: SP-Bundy, Keuchel RF-Mancini C- Grandal ?

Strasburg officially opts out
I'm pretty sure the top offer to Strasburg is going to be for 5 years in the $150-165M range.

Pomeranz to San Diego
Noooo

Burr DFA'd
Yes. It should just be RBI.
- Man files formal complain against Kelvin Herrera. He alleges that the Sox pitcher gave him several blows at a cockfight

Burr DFA'd
I knew that would be some people's responses, but seeing people post "DFA'd" is like fingernails on a blackboard to me.
-
Burr DFA'd
Just my pet peeve, but the abbreviation should be just DFA. DFA'd means designated for assignmented. It's completely redundant and unnecessary. The past tense is built into the acronym by context. Thank you, I'll leave now. Ja Vol. (meaning I'm a grammar nazi for those that don't get the reference)

Zack Wheeler Thread
This is probably accurate but you never know.

Zack Wheeler Thread
Yes. Does he even post here anymore?

Zack Wheeler Thread
It's pretty accurate. Aside from the last 3 seasons the Twins were bottom 5 in baseball for almost the entirety of 2011-16.

Zack Wheeler Thread
I was talking about his deceased father Carl. Carl was a known cheapskate. The Twins haven't been in this position since Jim Pohlad took over. The Twins have been nearly as inconsistent as the Sox since 2011.
-
Zack Wheeler Thread
I will say this, the fact that the tweet specifically mentioned the Twins, makes me think one of two things: Either Wheeler's market is huge and it's going to take time, or it's an agent plant to squeeze a few more dollars out of the Sox, and he's close to signing.
-
Zack Wheeler Thread
Plus, this isn't the old man anymore. This is the first time the Twins have been in position to spend since the kids took over. Old man Pohlad was a known cheapskate. We don't know about the kids.

Sox in on Marcell Ozuna? I mean, maybe. Or not.
It sounds ridiculous, but if they can't find a viable RF with a RF arm, and they can get a huge upgrade offensively in CF but the guy has a below average arm, that might be a more economically viable situation. There aren't a lot of decent defensive RF out there.

Has anyone thought that they might acquire a CF instead and play Robert in RF? It's also an option. Does anyone know of any decent CF trade/FA options? It's like we never even considered Robert playing RF.
