and Austin Rivers just cements his legacy in the Duke-UNC series. Wow. -
QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Feb 7, 2012 -> 04:09 PM) There is an entire Bears forum, which does get pretty good traffic. However, the majority of the Sox fan base are Bears fans so it kind of comes with the territory. I actually think posters here do a pretty good job of being open to discussing other teams when people bring them up but if nobody is interested in a team then nobody will care to spend too much time discussing it no matter which thread its on. I agree. Of course this thread will be dominated by the Bears because of the local ties but this thread does a pretty good job at talking about other teams/stories.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 7, 2012 -> 10:52 PM) The best OL I could find. I dont think I've heard a Bears fan here give another answer when asked about what Chicago should do with its first pick.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 5, 2012 -> 10:51 PM) ChiTribSports ChiTribSports M.I.A. the flips bird during Super Bowl halftime show; NBC apologizes. I'm at the point where I want to see old acts who have made their fame and isnt trying to just get press clippings by pulling these stunts. Or come up with a contract that any cursing or acts like flipping off the camera can lead to a big lawsuit.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 5, 2012 -> 10:46 PM) If you're on defense near the end there, and the penalty is only 5 yards with no time coming back on the clock, why not put your entire roster out on the field? I know the game cannot end like that, but atleast down to 1 second. There was 15 seconds left when the one Giants player went offsides and Brady threw it deep to Hernandez but it was incomplete. The play took 6 seconds and really didnt hurt the Giants. I think if the offense can get a 10 second run off in the final minute for certain penalties, the defense should have get penalized too. Maybe on offside calls, the playclock goes back to the original starting point if the team decides to take the penalty. What is stopping a defense from jumping off in hopes of getting to the QB just to run some time? As long as he doesnt have the clear path and the refs blow it dead, I would certainly rather trade 5 yards for 5 seconds.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 5, 2012 -> 05:17 PM) Duke just forgot how to shoot free throws. 0-6 in OT and only made 1-2 with 20 seconds left when it was 69-68 Canes. Big win though for Miami! -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 2, 2012 -> 05:43 PM) I really don't see what Gottlieb did wrong. Same here. Someone asked a question and he answered it. Wasnt rude, just honest. And White acted fine too during this exchange, Really nothing to see here. -
QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Feb 2, 2012 -> 04:48 PM) Obama's average favorability never dipped below 50%, Romney's favorability is around 30% today. Who cares what the average favorability is when he is currently sitting under 50%. I guess it's best to spin it to whatever sounds most favorable depending on your side.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 2, 2012 -> 10:42 AM) Iowa hasn't been near as terrible as they have in years past. Still a little inconsistent but they now have 4 conference wins. Including wins against Minny (twice), @ Wiscy, and against Michigan. I havent seen them much this year but just by looking at their schedule and results, this isnt the same Iowa team that was an automatic win. But if youre a bubble team right now like Minnesota, you need to win this game. Minnesota still has 5 games against ranked teams so they can control their own destiny but it doesnt leave them much wiggle room with a 4-6 conference record. -

Hamilton picking Rutgers isnt a shock either. He really likes Rutgers and he is close with the new HC. Good for him for staying home. -

Bad loss by Minnesota tonight. Big 10 is looking like a 7 bid team conference now. -

Golden was able to recruit a really good class after a 6-6 season and the Shapiro thing still hovering around. I cant wait to see what he's able to do when he starts winning games and the sanctions talk go away. -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 31, 2012 -> 09:26 PM) Fathom, Vitale is terrible with any blue blood program (UNC, Duke, etc) Or maybe Vitale is just terrible because now that I think about it he also loves underdogs or any other reason to scream. He was going crazy when Florida St smoked UNC. He was taking pictures with his cell with the one FSU player from his commentators booth. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 31, 2012 -> 09:25 PM) It's seriously awful. I'm sure chimpy, zen and palehose would agree with me. But its Duke Baby! The Cameron Crazies! Coach K! Unbelievable Baby! I can tolerate him doing any game that doesnt involve Duke. but when Coach K is 30ft away, Dickie V cant help but cream his pants for the next 2 hours. -

QUOTE (danman31 @ Jan 30, 2012 -> 11:38 PM) That said, Haith's decision to slow Missouri down on the offensive end was brutal and cost them the lead. This is a team used to running that's good in the half court set. Don't limit them on the shot clock and force them to hold the ball. Let them play and you'll win. That is Haith. There were so many times Miami would race out to a lot of points and good size leads only to start trying to milk the clock in the final 5-7 minutes and blow it. Almost like he played not to lose once Miami would get a lead down the stretch. In college, you need to keep your foot on the gas because you never know what will happen when you get out of rhythm and try to drain the clock. From the sound of Musburger, you guys arent running much zone this year? That's literally all Miami did under Haith. -

QUOTE (danman31 @ Jan 30, 2012 -> 11:14 PM) Was there any doubt a Rick Barnes team would fail to execute in the final possession there? I'm not too familiar with Barnes but I'm guess thats the norm for Texas in the final possession? If so, I guess that's who Haith got it from when he was at Miami. Good for Haith though. I'm sure he's learning a lot from having better assistants this year but from all accounts he was a really nice/good guy and it's nice to see him having success. -
QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jan 30, 2012 -> 10:22 PM) There needs to be less points (well or at least equal points for every game...do 3) but you absolutely cannot give a team zero points for losing in a shootout...unless regulation losses are worth -1 or something. A team that wins in regulation shouldn't earn as much as a team that wins in a shootout, so the same should be the case for the loser. I think the only options in making regulation wins more valuable is to either bump it up to 3 points (which I dont like because it will be too much) or start giving half points. Regulation Win--3 points OT/SO Win--2 points OT/SO Loss--1 point Loss--0 points or Regulation Win--2 points OT/SO Win--1 point OT/SO Loss-- 0.5 point Loss---0 points

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jan 30, 2012 -> 07:30 PM) Apparently there were some Tim Thomas/Viktor Stalberg rumors that were squashed today. The media trying to create stories instead of just reporting them.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Jan 30, 2012 -> 10:42 AM) I want fewer points awarded, not more. I see it like this: Regulation win = 2 points OT or shootout win = 1 point Loss = 0 points. I don't believe a team should ever be awarded points for a loss. I dont think a team should be penalized for losing a shootout. That would be like allowing baseball game to be decided by a HR derby after 10 innings of a tie game.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jan 28, 2012 -> 10:46 PM) Patrick Kane's superman gag was awesome. I thought it was lame. And someone needs to tell him that if NBC wants to mic you up then converse with the commentators and stop saying "you'll have to wait and see". He had the personality of a dead moth out there. I know hockey is pretty limited in what it can do for an events challenge but these festivities are pretty played out.
