  1. Should UNC been called for a charge on the game winning basket? I saw the replay from under the basket and really couldnt tell. Didnt see it live. I think the refs did make the right call on the final hail mary pass attempt. ACC refs love to protect the Carolina teams, especially their gravy trains in UNC and Duke. Miami got called for a couple of bogus charges last night that took away baskets, including 1 basket that would've made it a 1 point game in the final minutes. Now that was against FSU but that loss pretty much assures NCST of atleast getting an invite to Dayton.
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 9, 2012 -> 05:18 PM) NC State probably just got themselves in. They sure celebrated like they clinched a spot. But they probably got themselves a flight to Dayton for early next week.
  3. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 9, 2012 -> 08:49 AM) Had a bad feeling about that game going in, as I said before. Texas was desperate, ISU was nervous and inexperienced in that sort of situation. Not a good combination. Now ISU goes from being a 7-seed (with a win vs TEX) and a chance for higher, to being probably an 8-seed, maybe even 9-seed. Sucks being in the 8/9 section of the bracket, playing a near-match team and then the 1st seed. Oh well. No matter what goes on now, this season was a BIG step in the right direction for the Cyclones. Unless they are the 8/9 seed in the UK or Syracuse bracket, I dont see the difference in them being a 7th seed against a 2 seed or 8/9 vs one of the other 1 seeds.
  4. Very nice event you guys will be showcasing tonight. Pretty excited to see it tonight.
  5. QUOTE (danman31 @ Mar 9, 2012 -> 12:14 AM) It's amazing, the Mountain West is better than the PAC-12 and it's not really close. Can anyone imagine the Missouri Valley being clearly better than the Big Ten for one season? That's pretty much the equivalent of what's happening out west. People don't think it's a big deal because it's happened pretty gradually, but not that long ago the PAC-10 was the deepest league for a year or two. Yeah it was. UCLA was making Final Four runs, Arizona was always a threat, Washington was a Sweet 16 caliber team, Arizona St was making the tournament, Stanford was a tournament team, USC had a nice couple of seasons. Even Washington St had a Sweet 16 run a few seasons ago.
  6. Lucky for Miami that they played a team who is very limited on offense. Miami can be very good shooting the ball but tonight it looked like they were playing timid and afraid to lose. There was a lot of shots that looked like Miami was aiming their shots, kinda like throwing a dart at the rim. I think the play of the game was the charge on Miller when Miami was up 29-27. I thought it was a block and it wouldve been a 3pt play opportunity.
  7. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 8, 2012 -> 05:49 PM) They were down 1 on all 4 of those misses and it was Tony Wroten, he had a big time game, he's a big time talent and will be an nba player but that was a total choke job. ugh couple that with GT blowing an 8 point lead late, not a good day for me account! luckily Maryland -4 was a gift.
  8. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 8, 2012 -> 05:39 PM) Washington loses in the 1st round to Oregon State. They were the #1 seed in the tournament. They won the PAC-12 regular season, but couldn't win a game in the tourney, and their SOS is terrible. I just read they have beaten 1 team in the RPI top 75. They may be out now, certainly they are at least on the bubble. San Diego State narrowly escapes the same fate as Washington, pulled it out at the end against a 13-17 Boise State team. Me thinks they were looking ahead a bit. ETA: Just saw the replay, the game was tied just before the buzzer, and SDSU made a falling down, prayer 3-pointer to win it as time expired. Damn. Washington just killed me since I had them at -3. Hope they are left crying come Sunday night. Some kid on Washington missed 2 FTs while down 2 with like 40 seconds left then he turned around and missed 2 more with 17 seconds left and trailing 85-83.
  9. pretty neat that Spike Lee showed up to root on LIU-Brooklyn tonight.
  10. QUOTE (danman31 @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 05:56 PM) Arsenal out of the Champs League despite a good rally. EPL is looking quite overrated in Europe this year. I dont know if the EPL is overrated this year in Europe because its not really that strong within itself this year.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 05:14 PM) Bruins back up goalie is out 4-6 weeks and the Bs are trying to bring in Marty Turco http://espn.go.com/boston/nhl/story/_/id/7...ks-groin-strain bad loss. The B's has really been hit with the injury bug and been sputtering as of late so maybe this will get Thomas back in a hot zone so the team can reel off some wins.
  12. Has anyone heard from RockRaines? Havent seen him around lately. Hope all is well.
  13. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 08:52 AM) I think it's hands down the best tourney there is. Granted, I am a UConn fan and a Big East homer, but there is something special about friday/saturday night at the Garden with usually marquee teams playing. It is the best tournament out there. It's a shame its going to lose some of its luster when Syracuse and Pitt leaves.
  14. anyone bother to watch the Davidson-Western Carolina 2OT thriller? Awesome game.
  15. I have a friend who does this religiously. He said its easier because he is nearly 7ft tall. But he also pisses in the kitchen sink so I think its more about laziness. He also pisses in empty gaterade bottles because all he drinks is those 64oz drinks. It is funny to watch someone worry about if there are any piss bottles around his bed as he's driving home with a girl.
  16. Didnt want my conference to feel left out after seeing the Big 10 and Big 12 threads. 17. some high flying affairs so far....
  18. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 2, 2012 -> 05:20 PM) Basically all they've done is prolonged the playoffs by adding a 1-game playoff between the top 2 wild cards teams in each league. But why? In hopes that they can create the same magic of last season or game 163 in the past? That isnt going to work. Seems like they want to give Boston and/or NY every chance possible to get into the post season. Why is it fair to have a "play-in", not play-off game if WC A finishes 94-68 and WC B finishes 89-73? What if the Yankees and Rays finished tied for the AL East and the Red Sox finish with the next best record. So we would have the loser of the Rays-Yanks play the Red Sox, who is just sitting back, for the right to go to the playoffs? This diminishes the regular season.
  19. Fighting has been nearly cut in half under Bettman and players are getting taken out all the time by cheap hits. What is going to happen if there is no fighting at all?
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 28, 2012 -> 04:54 PM) If you think a sport that has seen it's brightest star succumb to concussion is going to continue to allow talentless hacks to get in bloody duels on the ice, your head is broken. the sport has basically given the "ok" to hacks to take out their stars by the addition on the instigator rule. and how can you say his head is broken when you think this will start the motion of banning fights in NHL games?
  21. Hawk can be annoying as hell but there are some announcing crews that are absolutely boring. And any tandem with Steve Stone can't be last unless his partner has the voice of Gilbert Gottfried.
  22. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Feb 18, 2012 -> 10:52 PM) Jay Bilas really pulling for Ohio State it seems. Loves to slam the Big Ten in general too. Watching these games can be absolutely brutal at times. I'm sure the style of play is a reason but these refs just kill the game from an entertainment aspect. Watching defenses mug their opponents isnt that appealing. It's time to start calling fouls and open up these games some.
  23. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 14, 2012 -> 07:30 AM) Not for this year's version of Ryan Miller, he seems worn down or something. If Miller went to a playoff team then I bet the old Ryan Miller would show up. He appears dejected with the way the season has gone and probably doesnt have much respect for his teammates.
