  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 09:02 AM) I think everyone else is saying that if his personality was that weak, what is to say he doesn't accidently walk in on a teammate doing coke and get addicted to that? As I pointed out earlier, he seems to have a personality that makes him prone to getting addicted to whatever he is into. He couldn't just get one tattoo, he got seven. He can't just have a beer, he has 20, and then is looking for cocaine. It isn't just the chance encounter that is the problem, it is Hamilton's complete lack of willpower. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 09:27 AM) Boom roasted I wouldn't say roasted but I will say its a valid point....But I don't know how often drugs are done in the clubhouse, if at all but I suppose it could have happened. I'm 25 years old and have never been put in the position to do hard drugs...I know it happens, but not often enough for me to think if he never met the guys at the parlor it woulda happened anyway. It may have, it might not have....I think if he was around his family everyday like he was previously it wouldn't have got to the point it did. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 09:33 AM) Didn't you say he got injured in a car wreck with his parents? So, it's his parents' fault he descended into drugs and alcohol. If he wasn't injured from the car wreck, he'd have been playing ball instead of shooting heroin! If you wanna look at it that way sure..It was a series of events that lead to his demise.
  2. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 01:56 PM) Probably safe to assume it was the same dude Ya, crazy stuff. I knew this neighborhood got a bad rap but the 5 years Ive lived here nothing has happened, well now I know why. For those wondering, I live in Hammond right off the State line going into Calumet City. A block from St. Margrets Hospital.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 01:27 PM) Sounds like got interrupted before he could do anything. Ya my sister said the dog was barking at the side door where he came in so he must have been spooked by him or by my sister yelling for me. Crazy s***, the cops said it was the 2nd time this morning it happened in the neighborhood.
  4. As some of you know I'm a security guard and the s*** just didnt add up to me. He/she opened a dresser where there was money and there was a laptop 20 feet from the room they were for sure in yet neither were taken... Heres the story I told a friend on facebook of what happened. I was woke up from my dog barkin at the front door..my sister saw a black guy walking down the steps when she got up but he left...I went to the bathroom and my dog went ape s*** again so I walked outside and was lookin around...my sister runs out of the house sayin "Aaron HOUSE HOUSE HOUSE" so I grab a pole outside and go back to her and she said someones in the house...I go back in and the side door is open, screen door glass broken and my moms lights are on and her dresser is open but they were gone......weird s*** because there was money in the dresser they opened and a laptop 20 feet from my moms room but neither stolen...I think he was scared of the dog and dipped....I had metal pole if that mother f***er was still in the house
  5. Im soxman...i think it was ronny woo woo
  6. Sooo uhhh...Someone just broke in my house, opened a dresser where my mom keeps her money yet none was taken....Weird s***.
  7. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 05:58 PM) Still bulls***. Im and most other people can walk into any tattoo parlor in the world right now and not come out a raging heroin addict simply because we're not stupid enough to try the s***. If it wasn't the tattoo parlor it would have been somewhere else. I just trying to say if he doesn't meet those guys there's a chance he's never put in the position to do drugs. He didnt have a problem until he met those guys at the parlor. Yes he should have had the will power to say no but he was drunk and put in that situation and made the poor decision in saying yes and then he was balls deep in the stuff. I'm not arguing that he didnt make the wrong decision Im saying IN MY OPINION it probably doesnt happen if hes with the right people.
  8. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 06:26 PM) . lol ya caught me, that was phrased wrong.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 06:15 PM) Probably means the Cubs and Navarro His response to me saying you sure it wasnt the Cubs and Navarro "Maybe ...they could've said the wrong team ...wouldn't b the first time the score f***ed up" Me thinks he just heard wrong.
  10. Bobcats haven't look terrible so far this year, what are the pick specs again??
  11. One of my buddies on facebook said the score just announced the Sox signed some catcher for 1.5 mill...anyone else hear anything more? cant find anything online.
  12. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 04:17 PM) while he may not have used any drugs on his benders, him asking around for it implies that he WANTED to use the drugs. and let's not forget "family man" slobbering all over women that were not his wife and younger than said wife. as for the tattoos, i thought we all agreed it's carl crawford's fault? Has Josh said he was asking for coke or was it all here say? Lol I said Carl Crawford inspired him to get a tattoo in the first place. Hamilton said "my parents wouldn't like that" (we're talkin about a kid outta high school) and Carl said "Your an adult now, you make your own decisions"
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 03:28 PM) Go check out the photos from his 2009 escapade and then read the accounts of what happened when he had what he said was 4 cocktails last year. He's far from out of the woods. There's still been no truth to him asking for coke...just read an article on ESPN that said he's still being drug tested 3 times a week. Yes it CAN happen if he continues drinking heavily, so no he's not out of the woods, but the fact remains it hasn't in 6 or 7 years. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 03:57 PM) Meaning the tattoo parlor didn't have s*** to do with it. He would have been a drug addict no matter what, I don't fault him for that. But take responsibility for your own stupid choices, don't blame anything or anyone other than you being stupid. If he never walked into that specific tattoo parlor and made friends with those drug addicts there is no guarantee what so ever that "He would have been a drug addict no matter what". Once again, his book is not blaming these guys, his book is telling the series of events that lead to it. I'm the one saying if he never walked into that tattoo parlor we wouldnt be having this conversation.
  14. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 03:12 PM) That's fine as long as you are prepared to be disappointed. I just don't see the Josh Hamilton Story ending well. I hope that I am wrong. I think if it were to happen it would have already...its been 6 or 7 years since he failed a drug test. The guy was only 20 years old experiencing extended time away from his family for the first time.
  15. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 02:02 PM) the only one really championing hamilton is YOU... this discussion is a 2-3 page topic about cash and how good/bad the OF would be with him, BUT it becomes 10 plus pages about how great a guy he is, despite shooting up all his VERY sizable signing bonus. His fall was so bad it kept the devil rays s***ty even longer than planned. Hamilton may be a great guy, but he has a monkey on his back. and that scares GMs. Not to mention his actual back and knees are starting to feel the pain of years of baseball AND drug abuse. Of course, this great guy, this "family man", once he gets drunk wants to start f***ing every pretty little thing that moves in an arizona bar and asks where he can get cocaine. Josh Hamilton is to me as Ozzie Guillen is to Greg###. I'm just expressing my thoughts on the guy.
  16. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 01:57 PM) when you replace drugs with jesus, you are simply trading one addiction for another. look at george bush jr. I'm not religious or anything but I don't see how that can be a problem.
  17. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 01:50 PM) We wouldn't be having this conversation if Hamilton wasn't a drug addict. lol, thank you captain obvious.
  18. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 09:06 AM) Didn't his parents both die in a car accident? When did that occur? False, Josh and his parents got in a car accident but all walked away from it, the lingering effects from it was actually what put him on the DL which led to all his free time. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 12:09 PM) step one to be drug free(according to josh hamilton): replace drugs/booze with jesus. step two: blame everyone but yourself. Step one sounds right and there's no problem with that. Step 2, he wasn't the one that blamed Crawford or TBs front office or anyone else, I'm the one saying these things, it's what I took from the book. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 01:16 PM) If it wasn't for that gosh darn tattoo parlor, we'd be looking at the greatest baseball player of all time. I believe that, if he walked into a different tattoo parlor where the artists there weren't drug addicts themselves we wouldn't be having this conversation.
  19. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 10:14 AM) I acquired him in fantasy and am just rolling with it. Did he have a D-Rose type offseason and completely improve himself? Did he just become the 2nd true star to put next to D-Rose for the next 4-5 seasons? He looks f***ing legit. His addition of an improved jump shot is giving him better passing lanes, so his dimes are up. He is playing an insane 39 mpg, so hopefully that doesn't bite us in the ass. Normally, I'd say something about the Suns giving up mega stats to bigs, but Noah's been doing it against everyone - and beasted against Boston over the weekend. And I love holstering the gun. I think I'll write an article on it. Kareem said he can be a monster if he worked out with him, it looks like that happened and Kareem was right.
  20. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 01:40 AM) Probably the same idiot who voted for Michael Young as the MVP last year. I'm still wondering how David Price won. Verlander didn't have the 24 wins he had last year, but he was every bit as good this year and better than David Price according to a lot of metrics. More Ws and a better ERA...I think its justified.
  21. Fantasy basketball distracted me last week so I waited till the last minute to set my rosters(Its distracted me enough that I'm just now checking the scores.)...WELP as you all know that didn't work out for me. My last place team lost to the first place team by 5 points, I had 2 guys on bye weeks starting with S. Jackson and T. Youngs 28 points just chillin on the bench....FAIL
  22. I dont wanna have to look up to Drew Carey because I look like the guy. How bout that Joakim Noah guy, he looks pretty darn good this year.
  23. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 01:50 AM) Well your ex is a pretty terrible reliever. She was a beast softball player in HS, I guess that doesn't translate to the MLB. You'd think that underhand delivery would trick some guys. =p
  24. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 12:10 AM) This latest Loria fiasco should rejuvenate Ozzie's career. Loria is a disgrace to the game with this trade with Toronto. I just wish the Sox fleeced him like Toronto did. Anyway, Ozzie should be fine again with Loria the laughingstock of sports. Nobody can or should work for Loria. I wish Oz's contract would let him get another job, though. He shouldn't have to sit around collecting paychecks but doing nothing else. Loria's the one who fired him. I think when the Royals fire Yost next season in May, Oz would be perfect for KC. Loria still got him the talent last year and the team failed....I wish Loria would have kept the team around just to see if they could turn it around under new management like the Sox did after Ozzie.
  25. I remember this guy because Troncoso is my ex's last name is Troncoso...Way to bring up bad memories White Sox....
