  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 02:10 PM) Next time a Sox hitter strikes out with the tying run on 3rd and one out, remind me of this position. Dunn's OBP for which you seem to be touting, wasn't all that high. Even with leading the league in walks, it was 4th among Sox regulars. Runner on 3rd less than 2 outs Adam Dunn hit .478 with an OPS of 1.499. So ya, theres that.
  2. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 12:40 AM) People are really underestimating the loss of AJ. You're taking a .280 hitter with 27 dingers out of the lineup, where the hell are we going to get that production from? Hopefully from the 3B position. I also somewhat expect AJ to be back unless the Sox can grab a LH 3B. I can't imagine they go into the season with De Aza and Dunn as the only LH hitters. In a perfect world they get AJ and a LH 3B to really balance out that lineup.
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 12:14 AM) Well I expected us to compete and expected many of the turnarounds...the fact that it wasn't enough, coupled with the Tigers relatively mediocre performance in the regular season is somewhat frightening to me. I certainly hope that we can get the same kind of performances we did out of key components like we did last season, but I don't know that you can expect it. The question is not how did or does everyone "feel" about the White Sox going into the season. It is absolutely irrelevant what the performance of the team is compared to expectations by the mass media or fanbase. What is relevant is what is the talent level of the team, the performances we can get out of players at this stage of their careers, the resources available (including $ and players to move), etc., as opposed to our likely competition. I certainly hope I am wrong, but I fear the 2013 season may end up being the one many fans expected they would get in 2012. I believe, like last year, and really the year before too, this teams success will be measured by the success of Adam Dunn and Paul Konerko. If they're healthy and mashing the team will compete. If Rios stays consistent, Dayan takes a step another step forward, and they add a solid 3B they should be able to compete with that offense.
  4. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 5, 2012 -> 05:12 PM) Wow...I wish I could agree with him... Why not?
  5. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 5, 2012 -> 04:36 PM) My biggest worry is that if the Sox sign McCarthy, teams will KNOW that we need to unload Gavin and will lowball offers. Would be nice to be able to get both deals worked out at the exact same time though I realize that's difficult to pull off. Me thinks there may already be something in the works if they get BMac
  6. I'd certainly love to have Hamilton. If they trade Rios , Floyd, and don't resign AJ wouldn't that be around the 25 mill Hamilton wants? Lets say they trade Rios for some good prospects that they can package with some of our guys for Chase Headley. Trade Floyd for a C. Could you imagine the lineup??? De Aza Ramirez Hamilton PK Headley Dunn Tank Flowers/? Beckham
  7. QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 5, 2012 -> 02:35 PM) The Bears' problem with the Packers is their pass rush. The inability to deal with the pass rush from an OL, QB, and scheme standpoint make it more or less impossible to really say whether the other aspects of those teams really matter. Hopefully by the next GB game Mike Tice learns things like the three step drop, the run play on first down, etc. Or use some 2 TE sets to help the OL out. Whens Rodriguez coming back?? Line him up in the backfield and use him as a "spy" on Clay Matthews.
  8. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Nov 5, 2012 -> 01:07 AM) no way. In 2009 the Titans lost to the Patriots 59-0 That game was in New England.
  9. HoopsHype rumoring Q-Rich might be on the Bulls radar. Haven't really followed him in recent years but I assume he can still stretch the floor.
  10. QUOTE (spiderman @ Nov 4, 2012 -> 09:51 PM) I'm not buying the Sox, in need of some help on offense, and maybe the bullpen are going to be trying to sign McCarthy. Sure, they could sign him and move Floyd, but I think Floyd is going to be moved anyways. IMO it'd be a wise move since 3B is so thin in FA. Add to the rotation and sell off the excess for a 3B.
  11. QUOTE (oldsox @ Nov 4, 2012 -> 12:10 PM) Not a joke, just a simple statement. Actually he is 27, but his last three years were at AAA level where he hit in the .260 range with power and defense. That makes him a legitimate albeit journeyman minor league player. KW, Jr has never got out of the .250's at any level, has little power, never played above AA (for good reason), and is a year younger than Tracy. Sorry if I struck a nerve. You got the wrong guy...He's 24 and has played 3 years in A ball.
  12. QUOTE (oldsox @ Nov 4, 2012 -> 12:54 PM) Sox need hitters more than anything. Speed would not hurt. If the team we have now is the team we will have next summer, it will be one of the worst offensive teams in the majors. They're obviously not done making moves, regardless they wouldn't be one of the worst out there, thats just a troll statement.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 3, 2012 -> 07:59 PM) I love Brandon and all, but why? The guy can't throw a full season. While I agree I guess thats what Hector Santiago is for. If Hectors not in the rotation I want him starting in AAA.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 3, 2012 -> 06:23 PM) He will get non tendered. Lame, they could get a good piece for him.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 3, 2012 -> 05:37 PM) Isn't he a free agent. JR would never let that beard stay as is. No, but Romo took the closers role and Casilla is their RH setup man so I venture to believe he's available....Has there ever been a rule against a big beard in the past??
  16. I wouldn't mind trading for Brian Wilson though. He'd bring more fans IMO and would solidify the closer spot encase Reed isn't what we thought he was. If you get Wilson you can include Reed or Jones in a deal for a 3B.
  17. Since trading for Jamaal Charles 2 weeks ago he's managed a grand total of 7 points...smh I give up in that league...anyone in the talkbears league the Cal City Crack Babys are open for business.
  18. There aren't many LH power bats you can replace Dunn with, thats the main reason why I wouldn't trade him and I suspect neither would Kahn. Sans his historically turrable year he's been highly productive his whole career, which is what the Sox need. The Sox are already short on LH bats.
  19. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 3, 2012 -> 12:38 AM) This took long. Que?
  20. Ouch...That reminds me of this. Saw it live, didn't know what the hell just happened. He had a bright future, was best friends/partners with Tyler Black who is now Seth Rollins in NXT....After that he just became a joke. Kinda sad, he was entertaining.
  21. Pretty impressive showing for the Bulls. I love the energy "Mr. Excitement" brings...If Derrick is somewhat healthy and playing come playoff time this team is gonna make some noise.
  22. When your bullpen is basically all rookies you have to expect some bumps in the road. Next year with some experience under their belt they should be better. If Reed can improve I really like the pen. Jones and Veal look like they can be dynamite set up men and you throw in old reliable Jesse Crain and the underrated Thornton and the pen looks fine to me.
  23. Jed Lowrie?? He'd be a good fit if he can stay healthy and has the kind of year he was having in Houston.
