  1. Womp womp....As a guy who thinks he'll still be good for for a few more years I don't really find joy in the Tigers signing him.
  2. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 12, 2014 -> 03:36 PM) This is true. What scares me is how many innings that skinny 6' 154 pound frame of his has thrown. His innings pitched and skinny frame makes me question his long term durability. Plus, his body will have to try and adapt to pitching every fifth start. Just not willing to to take the chance. Have to wonder when that weight was taken. He doesn't look THAT thin in the video in the OP.
  3. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 12, 2014 -> 03:23 PM) yeah you are right, however the Japanese pitchers throw a lot on innings and sometime back to back games. I mean you can point to Tanaka as a negative, but I can also point to Darvish who's thrown the 8th most innings since coming over. Hisashi Iwakuma, who came over the same year, ranked 35th in innings and he was a reliever for the first half of his first year. Or Hiroki Kuroda who in all but 1 season recorded 30+ starts
  4. I've been interested since first reading about him months ago. He's not gonna get Tanaka type money, and I think being scared off completely by what happened to Tanaka is a little silly.
  5. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 11, 2014 -> 09:37 PM) Think you missed my point there. Whoops, sure did. Carry on. Jose Abreu is the one I should have replied to with those numbers. He's much more than a loogy.
  6. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 11, 2014 -> 07:31 PM) No one is going to spend 8-10 mill on a loogy. He wouldn't have to be the closer but he'd certainly be used for more than just tough lefties. C'mon now. Last 3 years... vs LHH .186/.253/.263 238 ABs vs RHH .176/.294/.264 239 ABs Dude is a legit.
  7. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 11, 2014 -> 09:17 PM) If Andrew Miller was the only missing piece I'd be all in for him. Having holes at DH, LF (maybe RF since we don't really know what Avi is yet) and having to find a starter or two, he's not the missing piece. He might not be THE missing piece but a guy like him certainly is A missing piece. I can't believe after watching that s*** show of a bullpen we put out there last year some of you guys don't wanna significantly upgrade it.
  8. If they refuse to give up one Wheeler/Syndergaard what would you guys think about Niese and Lagares? Is that even "less"? Niese is still youngish at 28 and would be a solid #3. Lagares is one of the best defensive outfielders in the league.
  9. When talking about taking advantage of the cheap starting rotation we have I think the bullpen is where it makes the most sense to allocate the "big money" and Andrew Miller makes the most sense of anyone available. Sign me up.
  10. Survivor Series is typically a clusterf*** of guys put together...And with a lot of the "top guys" hurt I'm not surprised by this card hurting at all.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 11, 2014 -> 04:24 PM) I'm not quite confident enough in Bassitt to set up a rotation competition between him and Rodon out of the spring. Maybe the team is willing to do it, but he's a guy who has 1/2 a season above A ball and a lot of injury issues last year. Maybe the team really loves what he's done this year, maybe they also have more confidence in someone like Beck contributing this year, and that would leave them willing to do it, but that rotation as written really does look like it has a role for a guy on a 1 year, value rebuilding contract. Masterson, Johnson, the guy from Oakland, someone to fill that gap out of the spring and give some innings until Rodon is ready seems like such a good fit. I know it's only one comparison, but the Sox have shown with Q (who had 48 innings above A vs Bassitts 82) that they're not afraid to do something like that.
  12. At some point I really think the Sox need to take advantage of the fact that their #1 and #2 are being paid like a #4 and #5 Then you eventually throw in Rodon to the mix and Noesi as a cheap 5 (assuming Danks is traded) and that rotation is not expensive at all. After thinking more, I'm against it if Danks is still here, but I'm for it if he's gone. Sale- 6M Max- 25M Q- 3.4M Noesi- 1.9 Bassitt/Rodon- 500K Total- 36.8M Conversely the top 5... Dodgers rotation- 78M Phillies- 74M Yankees-74M Tigers- 73M Giants- 65M
  13. IF they can trade Danks, which I think is possible, adding the 25M Max would make would make the payroll ~60M plus whatever we take back in the Danks trade. If you're taking back another bad contract for Danks that fills another hole. Trading Danks would be the key in this making sense....Though I think it's plausible to do it with Danks still here
  14. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 11, 2014 -> 12:19 PM) I actually think his ego is what's going to keep him away for a while. I hope he comes back at some point but I don't think it's going to be for a while. I agree with the first line. I still have a feeling that he might soon rather start his own promotion/jump on with RoH/TNA before coming back to WWE. Speaking of new promotions. Good Ol JR will be announcing for Jarretts company. I'm not real sure what type of thing he's running but "their" first event will be a partner show(?) with New Japan Pro Wrestling in NWJPs wrestlemania Wrestle Kingdom 9.....Gonna be kinda cool to watch that show with JR announcing.
  15. Niese is young and cheap enough (Just turned 28 2 weeks ago, under team control till 2018 with 10.5M being where it max out) to be a little interesting. They would have to throw more on top of him though, whereas converesly I'd take Wheeler or Syndergaard straight up.
  16. I'd have zero problem with this, esp. if Danks is traded. Either way I'd have no issue with it. I firmly believe that within a couple years the salary will be back up around 120M so I'm fine with making this move that would put it up around 75 before anything else.
  17. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 10, 2014 -> 10:17 PM) I don't know man. Semien has not played much SS and he was not defensively impressive at third although he looked better at second. Actually, SS is the position Semien has played the most in the minors. SS- 256 games 2B- 106 games 3B- 90 games He hasn't played it a lot at the major league level because Lexi is a robot who rarely gets a day off.
  18. If they can snag Panda or trade for a LH middle of the order 3B/OFer then I'm game for TCQ as TDH
  19. I'm not necessarily a big fan, but I do love the energy the crowd brings when he's out there. It adds a lot to the show when there's that kind of energy.
  20. I'd just like to bring to light fake Jon Gruden on twitter. For those on twitter he is a must follow.... Jon Gruden @Faux_Gruden · 20h 20 hours ago Man, if darts were played with footballs instead of darts, Aaron Rodgers would be the best darts player of all time. That guy's accurate man Jon Gruden @Faux_Gruden · 21h 21 hours ago Man, give Randall Cobb some butter because he is on a roll. Or because his name is like corn on the cob. Either way man, this guy's good Jon Gruden @Faux_Gruden · 21h 21 hours ago The Bears have no answer for Paper Clip 2 X Lamb Chop man. The Packers could run play all night long if they wanted Jon Gruden @Faux_Gruden · 22h 22 hours ago I like to call Jordy Nelson "The Circle." Because once he runs his route, there's no corners around him man. Circles don't have any corners Jon Gruden @Faux_Gruden · 22h 22 hours ago I love the Bears man. Mostly because I really like actual bears. Polar bears are probably my favorite. I'd have one as a pet if I could man
  21. I typically try to avoid spoilers but for whatever reason WWE decided to post unavoidable pictures on twitter that pretty much gave a lot away. This saddens me. spoiler upcoming for those that haven't read or seen the pics.... Particularly Ryback joining the authority(At least I assume after seeing a pic of hm slamming Cena). He was getting so over as a face and they can use a strong face like him.
  22. This Jung-Ho Kang fellow sounds rather interesting as a replacement at SS. If the Mets offered up Wheeler I couldn't say no. A rotation at midseason and beyond that features Sale-Q-Wheeler-Rodon is young and exciting.
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 9, 2014 -> 11:01 PM) The big question is whether the Mets feel they're going to be ready to contend in 2015 or 2016, just like the White Sox. What's the rehab status of Matt Harvey at this point? If the Mets are also in a "make a move to improve the club but not all in yet" holding pattern similar to the White Sox 2015 season, then they're probably going to hold off on giving up talent on Ramirez, preferring to player their own youngster/s or acquiring the likes of a Lowrie/Stephen Drew/Scutaro type. Well they just signed Cuddyer so it would appear they're looking to compete.
  24. Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeymanCBS 4m4 minutes ago Mets announce they sign michael cuddyer to two-year deal. Sacrifice draft choice to get him. With Harvey, Wheeler, and DeGrom it appears the Mets are looking to contend.
