  1. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 07:32 AM) I guess since the Repubs dropped the issue, it isn't an issue for the people here illegally anymore? i don't get it. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/c...ocalchicago-hed That's about right. Why protest when no one's going to pass anything through Congress this year, is what I assume most people figured. Also: I didn't hear of this new rally, and I live with a Mexican mother who watches the Mexican news. The fact that it wasn't advertised heavily probably hurt, too, as everyone and their disgusting Math teacher knew about it last Spring and went.
  2. I'm tempted to go to Vegas with sandwiches in protest.
  3. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 12:32 PM) I think when people do things like that, it just shows how much of a fan they are. Let's put it this way: would you rather have a fan that stops following the team and ignores all the bad when they are sucking? Or would you rather have a fan that can't get the team out of his head, good or bad, and might decide to get emotional when the team is sucking? I prefer the latter, because it shows that the person really cares for the team. We all are guilty every now and then of doing just that, but I think it just reaffirms our love for the team. Maybe you think I'm wrong, but thats just the way I feel. I prefer a fan who can worry without spiffting his pants. Some guys do it real well. Most? Not so much. I am surprised that Jose Contreras never had a thread of, "WHY DOES HE SUCK" "WHAT'S WRONG WITH HIM LOL!" "fish HIM, LOL!!" but everyone -- EVERYONE -- else has faced serious criticisms, and unwarranted criticisms. That's not entirely relevant, just something that came to my mind.
  4. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 10:55 AM) Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no! Dude!
  5. QUOTE(The Critic @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 12:01 PM) If you need help to calculate your GPA, that automatically drops it by a full point. Ha! I guess I'm screwed...
  6. All right. Here's the deal. All of the following numbers are grades from classes in the past. I am currently in the break between Junior and Senior. Each individual grade, as posted, is worth .5 credit. I've got a total of forty nine grades (24 classes, .5 each semester, two semesters each), and two summer classes each worth .25 that, together, are worth .5 credit. Here are the numbers: 4 1 3 3 4 3 5 5 5 6 6 4 2 1 2 1 2 1 3 1 2 3 3 1 4 4 3 3 4 1 1 2 0 3 3 2 2 4 4 4 4 1 3 4 3 3 4 4 4 Will someone who knows what they're doing please crunch them for me? Without adding in .25 of credit that I'm getting this summer, one of the fours was worth .25, and with that calculation, and forty eight courses, I had a 2.9901 weighted GPA; unweighted, I've got a 2.6931 GPA. Now, what is it with the numbers previously given?
  7. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 10:34 PM) I think he eats a bat before the next game and then spiffs it into his son's mouth. Paul Konerko will ask, "wow, that's really something, but whaduya call it?" And Ozzie will say, Los Aristicratos"
  8. No, actually, he doesn't do anything. Nothing at all.
  9. Jimminy Jillickers, radioactive man! If you stretch hard enough, you can find several seasons that "parallel" another team's. It's silly to go back and draw parallels like that until after the season is over, IMO, and even then, what the hell's it matter? I mean, I can't imagine that a lot of people in Washington asked, a few years ago, "Did the Seattle Mariners of 116 wins equal the Cubs of that many in 1906?" what's the point?
  10. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 10:15 PM) Thome has a .370 BA/RISP with a clutch rating of 8.5 Dye has a .346 BA/RISP with a clutch rating of 1.7. Both great yes, but why the hate on Thome after what he's done this season? Probably because Thome strikes out a lot more. I guess it all depends on what's more annoying to you. Thome's strikeouts. Paulie's knack for grounding into double plays. Dye...well, he doesn't have a consistent out like they do.
  11. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 10:37 AM) He's been givin' Mr. Bush lessons on how to sweet talk the ladies. It hasn't been going well. George isn't a very good learner. But he's starting to get the hang of it. Bill told me that Bush recently said to his Education Secretary, "Rarely is the Question asked: is our children fishing?" Clearly he's got a lot to learn.
  12. I can not believe that there are people who believe that Israel has a right to demolish Lebanon for what a terrorist group does. And the God damn of it is that these are the same people that will tell you how much they value human life, "human dignity" and things of that nature (unless it involves torture).
  13. Every single time that I witness ANYTHING WWECW related, I want to hit McMahon in the face and tell him how stupid a bastard he is. From his insistence that Joey Styles change style, to having the Undertaker and Rick Flair on ECW, he is a miserable SOB. Now, about him wanting to kill ECW: I don't think that's true, per se. He doesn't want it to be Real ECW; he wants it to be fake ECW, HIS ECW. He wants the ratings (and he's getting them), but not the legacy, the company, the Hardcore. Vince McMahon has a rapist's mentality.
  14. Anyone willing to bet on whether or not someone gets beaned this weekend? Too bad we're not in the NL, where Padilla could bat.
  15. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 03:19 PM) Congrats! That's a pretty big recognition. How many more hits has it translated to? If you don't want them to use that name, though, why do you introduce yrself that way on the site? That's a good point, and well made, about names. I should change it, and I think I will. I got quite a few more hits. A couple thousand. Huzzah!
  16. I believe I heard somewhere that we don't have the best home record anymore.
  17. Our defense has been down lately. Not just Mack, but everyone's favorite Gold Glover at third, too.
  18. In their Blogger's section. http://www.slate.com/id/2146188/ Office of the Independent Blogger, yay! I do have one small complaint: they say that my name is "Gregory Royal Pratt," and it IS, but before that they call me "Liberal Democrat" and then say I'm Gregory Royal Pratt, which sounds...snooty! My British friend, Emma, laughs whenever I email her because she reads, "Gregory Royal Pratt" and in English, well, yeah. You can figure it out. Anyway, I thought that was awesome, and that I'd share.
  19. Last year, I remember reading from a ton of people that Clifford was the luckiest pitcher in all of baseball, when you analyzed it. How unlucky has Javier been this year? From what I've seen, his bad innings are typically initiated by a poor defensive play either in Center by Mack, left by Pods, or shortstop/second if Cintron is playing. I think that one part of Javier's problem has been bad luck with the defense behind him, and the other part has been his lack of focus after errors. In fact, I was thinking about it earlier, and remembered that someone called Javy a Latin Buehrle. I think that might have some merit to it, when it comes to errors and defensive misplays, at least.
  20. Clearly the problem is that he sucks. Plain and simple.
  21. I met two nymphomaniacs today. They, after brief conversation, requested that I join them in bed sometime, at the same time, "preferably soon." I declined politely, but was flattered. And grossed out. I declined because I was and am uncomfortable with anyone willing to give themselves up that freely, even if they consider themselves nymphos. Besides, the thought of getting an STD terrifies me, and "HEY LET'S HAVE SEX LOL!!" reeks of it. We had what the Coach is dubbing "Summer Camp" today. We did warmups, then drills with the ball, and finally, they lined up and took shots at me, The Goalkeeper. One of the first ones took a bad hop and hit me in the groin. I pretended that it didn't, no one noticed, and played through the pain. I wound up doing a very good job, although I came home very sweaty. I was happy, though, that I was blocking everything that came my way, and I had thirty kids firing off at me one after another with two seconds between each shot. Come on now people, altogether: "Gregory Pratt is a keeper!" I exerted dominance over one of the upstarts on our team, though. Michael and I -- the only two seniors -- know that last year, we had no discipline. Players didn't work together as teammates, and there was a lack of focus. We maintained discipline, and everyone was working fine. We're going to be the guiding force of the team, with me being the bad cop and Mike being the good one. A boy began mouthing off to me while they were taking shots. He told me, "Catch the ball, don't knock it down and then catch it!" and I said, "Shut the shoot up, kid, before I bust you down so fast that the Coach won't let you play anymore." (If this seems excessive, Hector and I've got a personal history, and he's a bit of a problem child, so all he understands is harshness, as he DID shut up.) (On anohter note, I'd been knocking them down, rather than catching them, because I wasn't wearing goalie gloves at the time, and thought it would be safer for my hands. Besides, I was knocking 'em down right in front of me and catching them instantly, so no harm, no foul.) Afterward, I sent Mike to tell him that about gloves, and that he had to defer to us Seniors. Hector got the message, loud and clear.
  22. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 08:56 PM) I have no idea, but I think DK mentioned that myspace pulled it which makes you think it may have been a hoax. WRONG ANSWER, JERK! I WAS ASKING ABOUT THE ORANGE SODA!!
