  1. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 01:31 PM) I just want to laugh at this really quick: PG - Norris Cole SG - Wade SF - Granger PF - McBob C - Haslem But if they retain Beasley and Oden,............
  2. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 01:19 PM) Taking Boozer in a deal you get the full value of his cap number when it expires. If you sign him after he is cut you only get the number he signed for with whatever team he chooses big difference. To me the only motivation picking up Boozer at full price is what comes back with him. You have to figure he is at least $10 million overpriced at this point, if not more.
  3. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 01:18 PM) Stein said Bulls are trying to get Wade and Anthony! Oh, the guy who said the Bulls had no chance with Carmelo, and never did, and they knew it. These guys are pretty good. When they are right, they let everyone know, when they couldn't be more wrong, they just let it slide off their backs like it never happened.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 01:08 PM) If Boozer is Amnesthetized, his contract does not count at all against the salary cap for this year. He could not be used in a sign and trade at all. The Bulls would pay him whatever on his contract is not picked up by another team and that would be the end of it. There is no way to do both an amnesty and a sign and trade. That's not my question. My question is why pick up Boozer in a sign and trade with pretty worthless draft picks and other crappy pieces , allowing the Bulls to give Melo more money and use an exception for a guy like Mirotic, when you can still get Boozer's expiring contract at the amnesty auction if that is some attraction, and you force Melo to accept less money and one of your rivals won't be able to make other moves? IMO, the only motivation Phil should have accepting Boozer is if you give him something really good to go along with it. Not something mediocre. And I think draft picks at the bottom of round 1 are mediocre.
  5. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 12:58 PM) Agree Wiggins has to be included. I think Cleveland has Miamis pick next year if they want from the lebron trade circa 2010. That'll be worth something now. Wow. I didn't know that. The double whammy. Not only does he leave and make you suck, but he gets your draft pick as well. Well played LeBron.
  6. As far as using Boozer for a sign and trade. How does it work if Boozer is amnestied and another team picks him up at a reduced rate? If it still is counted as an expiring contract, Phil really doesn't have much motivation other than to do the Bulls and Melo a solid, which makes no competitive sense, if he can just pay Boozer a good sum at the amnesty auction, still have it expiring on his books but Melo would have to take less, and the Bulls would have fewer tools to work with. It's not like the Bulls adding Melo is going to make future draft picks very attractive. So unless they are including pieces like Mirotic or McBuckets, why do it? When is Butler's contract up? He's going to get paid. I don't know if Phil would really want that either.
  7. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 12:50 PM) FWIW he did say he'd sign long term if Lebron was there. Don't think I'd do that if I was the Wolves....They have to demand Wiggins. No way. The first round pick is weak sauce and the other 2 are a #1 overall bust and a guy they wanted to get rid of before LeBron became a real possibility. I agree. Wiggins gets it done if I am Minnesota. The Cavs can keep their crap.
  8. Wade's wife had some issues herself. I wouldn't buy everything she says a 100% truth. Besides, if how a guy treats his wife is a big deal in your opinion whether or not you like a professional athlete, there are very few you will be able to like. Wife beater--I can see the hate. Wife cheater--that eliminates about 90% of the players if not more. Wade divorced his wife, she didn't file to divorce him. She did say Wade paid off her attorney to agree to the settlement. I think she may be a wackadoo.
  9. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 12:02 PM) I bet Riley has their back. That's the only explanation. Wade will make less per year, but the Heat will take care of him with some extra years and probably a lifetime position. Bosh will get his cash.
  10. If he can write right handed, maybe he can throw right handed and take up 2 spots in the rotation. Rotation issues...........solved.
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 10:48 AM) I don't disagree with you. Only way it could be done is if both Melo / Lebron take some discounts. I've always discounted it because of the moves they made but now I really do wonder if LBJ is just waiting Bosh out so he has to eventually sign with the Rockets. That would be cold.
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 09:12 AM) you have to think losing Melo for absolutely nothing is a impossibility for Phil. Either he stays or S&T I agree with an earlier post, I don't think Phil necessarily wants Melo at the max. I just think the crap he could get back for him is just so unattractive, so he has to keep Melo as an asset. If the Bulls added Melo, their draft picks won't be any good, and remember Phil really had no use for guys picked in the 20s when he was coaching. The reality is unless they beat the odds and land LeBron or Durant in the next couple of years, the Knicks aren't contending for a title until Melo is way past his prime.
  13. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 06:59 AM) The reality is that left-handed people are amazingly awesome and all you right-handed people are just jealous that you aren't. If you were so awesome you would be a catcher, but lefties are too scurred. You won't catch, you won't play 3B or SS or 2B.
  14. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 12:38 AM) NCAA lightened up on the baseball kids when it became apparent how anti-player their definition of amateurism was. Asking the kids to negotiate multi-million dollar contracts with industry experts with only the help of their parents is just a recipe for disaster. They could hardly access the regulations that governed their interactions with an agent without an agent to tell them what the rules were It is pretty unfair, but they did nail someone last year for having an "advisor" get a little too involved when he returned to college. I think he got a suspension. And an article I read said the White Sox turned someone in for the same thing a few years ago. If Rodon didn't sign and Boras was significantly involved, I would imagine there would have been some sort of issue. But that means nothing now.
  15. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 08:06 AM) I don't remember him saying that and I checked his twitter and didn't see it but he does have a lot of tweets so may have missed it. He just said it would be on the site at some point from the one I saw. But yeah hard to think he would be the only guy to know something if he did. At one point it was on his website. I think he removed it. He backed off of that "fact" when it was obvious it was not one.
  16. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 07:34 AM) He did. He still is actually. He still could be right though too. He did say the announcement would be on the lebronjames.com website Wednesday evening. That doesn't seem like a fact or at least a true fact.
  17. Why is it OK to have 4 or 5 RHP in a rotation, but not LHP? Just get 5 good pitchers. Who cares what hand they throw with?
  18. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 07:12 PM) Pitching to Ortiz with an open base and 2 outs, and then also on a 3-1 count in that at bat...absolutely mindless. Even Stone and Hawk called him out on it, it was that stupid. He fanned Him twice preciously and Papi hadn't had a hit the entire series. Load em up for Napoli when he is having problems throwing strikes isn't a good option.
  19. Aggrey Sam just said on CSN he believes the Bulls have moved on from Carmelo, and are on to plan B.
  20. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 06:39 PM) Why does Ace Ventura intentionally walk Drew, who was hitting about .150? Sets up a DP.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 06:28 PM) Ventura is going to be second-guessed on this one, too... Isn't it funny how the Red Sox can bring up an inexperienced rookie and he manages to get a bunt down successfully when we always struggle in that area with young players? Usually baseball players learn to bunt before they hit the major leagues.
  22. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 06:16 PM) How does that take away our DH if De Aza is PH for Flowers or Garcia?? I thought they wanted DeAza to hit for Konerko.
  23. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 06:11 PM) Wait what? How would we lose our DH when Konerko is the DH and hit in the inning? If you used De Aza and put him in the OF.
  24. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 05:58 PM) Way better option then Flowers and Garcia Then you lose your DH, and if the game goes extra innings and a pitcher has to hit, you would slam him for that.
  25. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 02:50 PM) Did Sheridan ever give a time? I just remember him saying it'd be on the website before he goes to Brazil. It was either 5 or 6 yesterday, which was right in the middle of his meeting with Riley. Today he said he told Riley he was out of there last night and Riley tried to tell him the Cavs weren't a stable franchise, had a meddling owner and change coaches and GMs frequently. So he was given at least some lies.
