QUOTE (onedude @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 06:06 PM) Have the red Sox connections been the only ones to say this? What the heck is a sense the price has come down? It either has or has not. What these guys tweet to make it seem like they know anything is amazing. -

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 05:58 PM) I would laugh so hard if it was Holmberg. After reading years of posts from people with Holmberg's nuts planted deeply in their mouths as a way to talk s*** about KW. It certainly does seem Holberg got a heck of a lot worse when there is talk of him being acquired vs when the Jackson trade is ever mentioned. -

I would love if Peavy pitched the wild card game against a team that is lowballing the Sox and he beat their ass. -

QUOTE (GoGoSox2k2 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 03:28 PM) John Gambadoro @Gambo620 7m Again hearing its extremely unlikely the Dbacks will trade for Jake Peavy. not sure how reliable this guy is but he does have 13.4K followers on twitter Until the deal is done, I would imagine not many are reliable. -

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 03:22 PM) Can't give specifics, too many moving parts. I can say that they Sox are looking for young pitching or hitting, possibly both. Also, a few of the names being discussed are players you've heard of before or maybe not, depends. I see. It's probably really fluid, different names being discussed. I just hope they get rid of Peavy, Rios, Dunn, Ramirez, Flowers, De Aza, Viciedo,Dunn,Beckham, Gillaspie, Keppinger,Danks,Lindstrom,Jones, Reed, Axelrod, Tekotte, Wells, Konerko, Troncoso, Purcey, Veal. It doesn't matter what they get back. If Hahn can't get rid of them, and if JR screws this up by not sending teams almost their entire salary....FAIL. -

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 03:17 PM) Just talked to my source, he confirmed that the Sox are engaged in talks with multiple teams about several players, Sox would receive minor leaguers and/or young major leaguers in return, money could also be involved. Deal could be announced in the next half hour or some time tomorrow. Heard it here first. This has me so excited. I hope it happens soon or I won't be able to sleep or work. I understand if your source can't give you the info, but did they give you any names? -

QUOTE (GoGoSox2k2 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 03:11 PM) Joel Sherman @Joelsherman1 can confirm what others have reported #Diamondbacks have indeed returned to serious Peavy talks (Towers has history with RH from #Padres) Wow Joel, great info, something the rest of twitterworld could never have come up with. -
QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 02:51 PM) Tekotte got sent down to make room for Rienzo. Now who is going to pinch run and get thrown out stealing or trying to score?

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 02:50 PM) Previous reports were Sox were not interested in including any $$ in deals. And all the teams that were out because of $$ issues seem to have jumped back in. And how do we know the Sox will throw in money? It seems Rios to Pittsburgh is held up by money. I think the posturing may have just ended, and the teams that want Jake Peavy now realize it's time to be serious. -

QUOTE (Wanne @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 02:49 PM) I really don't want to have anything to do with dealing with the A's...eff Beane. Beane wants to send a couple of prospects to the Sox for Peavy and have them eat money. Then he will trade Peavy this winter for prospects, thus getting him for almost free or even come out ahead. That is the plan. -

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 02:48 PM) Maybe Sox are now indicating that they are willing to include some $$ to facilitate a deal. The landscape sure has changed in the last 5 hours. How has it changed? -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 02:39 PM) Rios and Ramirez for Taillon If Hahn could do that, he could be the GM for life for any franchise in any sport. -

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 02:34 PM) For the record: I'm not a fan of Holmberg's but I definitely feel he would be included in a Peavy trade because that's just the way the Sox work, dammit. Then they would have to trade him again. -
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 02:22 PM) Holmberg would be a disappointing centerpiece. He's destined for Cooperstown if he's mentioned with Edwin Jackson.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:39 PM) Then how do you explain Francisco Liriano being the ace of the 2nd best team in MLB (by 1/2 game)? Coop fixed him.

QUOTE (Mr. Showtime @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:26 PM) He's floated that a million times this year it seems. Kuble is 31 and has 5 homers this year in 70 games. He had 30 last year in 141 games. Either way, why would you trade Peavy for a going on 32 year old outfielder? This team needs young, cost controlled players. It would be a way for the Sox to eat money without technically eating money. Rogers floated this as Kubel could take Rios' spot for the rest of the year. Kubel however has been awful this year and the second half of last. But if it means the Sox get better prospects, what's the harm? -
QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 12:32 PM) IIRC, Kap was pretty much spot on when it came to the Garza deal when it broke. He's usually not a source of rumors, though But that was a little more specific. If money were no object, the Sox could trade Rios to just about any team. But apparently it is a huge object, and he really doesn't define close. He throws out it may not happen which indicates to me there is a pretty big divide as far as the money is concerned. I do know Rios has been far from JR's favorite, so he may be willing to eat a lot of cash to see him somewhere else. I don't think he endeared himself to the organzation with his take on his benching.

The Sox are close to trading Peavy to Boston, players being worked on, but they may not find a middle ground. They also are close to sending him to St. Louis, players being worked on, but may not find a middle ground. Oakland, as well.

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 12:19 PM) Yes. I doubt it assuming he stays healthy. If he didn't break his rib, which was a fluke this year, he would have an ERA right about 3.00. Considering he brings back a #1 pick after next year if you give him a qualifying offer, a team should give you at least that kind of package. I really think if he had a 3.00 ERA next year at this time, they could get that package even if the #1 was off the table. His value is being penalized by 2 starts he made injured, and not to his arm. -

QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 12:11 PM) Question for discussion: If Peavy is traded, which do you expect? a-more impressive return than expected b-less impressive return than expected If Sherman is accurate, one top 50 guy in a 3 or 4 player package would be less impressive to me. I know of a lot of top 50 guys who didn't have much better MLB stats than me. -

QUOTE (Jillian Michaels' Abs @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 12:04 PM) I really hope that Rick Hahn doesn't trade Peavy if the right value isn't presented in return. If the Sox do not receive the offer that they like, why not just wait until the off-season to trade him? While a few people will be up in arms, they are also the people who would be complaining about the return if it was short anyway. Unless they trade Sale or maybe Quintana, this is the one player the Sox have that can net them good prospects, not the guys we are used to seeing. If the offers are short, you still have time to move him. Maybe in the winter there will be more teams able to take on his contract and/or more teams that think adding Peavy gives them a legit shot at the playoffs. -

QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 11:55 AM) Cardinals and Red Sox according to Bob, and Dicks right Nightengale always seems to be on top of Sox rumors and is hardly wrong. Barley tweets and when he does he doesn't blow smoke. He actually was the guy that broke the Hahn GM story last summer. A month or so before it was announced. I don't understand the DBacks. They are no longer interested in Peavy because BMac and Cahill will be back soon. Did they not realize this yesterday? -

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 11:45 AM) You didn't even respond to what i said. You said " don't say one day "we will keep him and build around him" or have it floated out there, and the next, hold him from his start because you may trade him. I understand all of the misinformation that is out there, and realize most GMs know what is real and what is not, but if you are going to say it, make it at least appear as real as possible. Which means you took something someone said about what Hahn supposedly said and applied it to Hahns actions of keeping PV from starting. That means you beleive Hahn is directly responsible for that piece of misinformation and he contradicts himself by starting PV. That just shows me you don't "understand all of the misinformation that is out there." Hahn was responsible for that information. If you are going to bluff, play it out. Pulling him from his start if he hasn't been traded shows he was bluffing, and backed down. He wants to get rid of him, and if it ever said it was precautionary because he was afraid he might get hurt, he would be legitimizing any team's concern about his health as a reason for a reduced package. Many GMs have a reputation of being almost ridiculous with their trade demands, yet they still make trades. This is the White Sox one big chip. He will still be a big chip at the Winter Meetings. No need to settle right now.
