  1. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 19, 2013 -> 09:45 AM) Who cares? Nobody is the good guy here, I have no pity for either party. And it is no secret that the Yankees want this contract voided, so lets not pretend like Arods fib is completely unfounded. And it's not like the Yankees don't have a history of messing with players. See Winfield, Dave and Steinnbrenner, George. I'm sure ARod is nowhere near as innocent as he and his lawyers claim. I'm also sure Levine isn't as innocent as he claims. The truth, as is the case most of the time, is somewhere in the middle. I also agree with those that say Braun is much worse. What he did to that sample taker is about as low as it goes. Apologizing now is just spin and doesn't cut it IMO. The only thing he is sorry for is being caught.
  2. Some Canadian journalist spoke to Dempster a while back and Dempster told him he would drill ARod the first chance he got. The funny thing is he drilled him not because of ARod's situation, but because ARod snubbed him at some event.
  3. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 18, 2013 -> 04:03 PM) Reed has a 3.36 era. His era would be in the high 1s if it weren't for the Mariners 5 run outing Yeah, but for some reason some people think he sucks.
  4. I always hate when hitters swing and then ask the umpire if it was a strike. You are just admitting you don't know what a strike is and probably won't get the call on close pitches even if they are slightly out of the zone.
  5. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Aug 18, 2013 -> 03:24 PM) Logan Morrison is one of the most average replaceable players in baseball. Considering his last idea was Ethier, and Josh Hamilton before that, he is at least moving in the right direction.
  6. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 17, 2013 -> 11:43 AM) Danks will be shopped, I'm sure. There's no way that they keep 4 of 5 starters as lefties next year. Especially if they want to try Johnson in the rotation. Why is there no second thought if a team has an all right handed rotation, yet 4 or more lefties im a rotation is taboo? As far as I am concerned the Sox should worry about quality, not from which side they throw.
  7. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Aug 17, 2013 -> 11:46 AM) You mean there's no honor among thieves? It just seems odd MLB is patting itself on the back "busting" these guys, yet are trying to make ARod PNG among his peers by leaking he is basically a snitch, and they previously said he tried to withhold imformation, and that is a reason he got 211 games. Did he withhold info or provide info to bust others? Seems MLB wants it both ways and wants it all out there so every hates ARod. I am just for equal treatment. I really don't think if Jordan Danks did the exact same thingsas ARod he would get more than a 50 game suspension. I really think ARod's suspension will ultimately be reduced significantly.
  8. Did MLB leak that information, and if they did, why did they use imformation from a guy they then suspend 4 times more than anyone else and say LYING is part of the stiffer penalty. No doubt ARod is a chooch, and I used to stick up for him, but what MLB is doimg here is so wrong.
  9. What I find puzzling is why whatever issue this is would bother him in the field but not on the bases or at the plate.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 15, 2013 -> 11:37 PM) Chris Singleton was a godawful fit with Hawk. The thing is most people are an awful fit with Hawk. The only guy in the last twenty years who wasn't was Wimpy. He actually brings out the good in Hawk. He was so godawful with Hawk, he never was teamed with him. He was with Farmio.
  11. The guy knows Singleton. He tweeted him to give him a heads up when he is comimg in and Singleton said he would.
  12. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Aug 14, 2013 -> 03:16 PM) Stone - "Miguel Cabrera is giving every effort he has on every play regardless of how he is feeling" Are you kidding me stoney? He doesn't run to 1B....on anything. You telling me if is maxing out his effort running to 1st? Hell no. He is taking it easy, which is fine, but no reason to pretend he is putting his health in danger by overexerting himself out there every play. I agree. That force out at 3B last night, Paulie would have beat, and his lack of effort on the ball lobbed his way for an error let Garcia score on his triple. BTW, there used to be a saying mocking guys who "couldn't hit their weight". I wonder if Flowers will hit his freshman in high school weight this year.
  13. I think Stone gets a series off during each half, but I can't help but wonder if they are in some way working Wimpy back into the mix. .
  14. According to KW the Sox are determining right now who "deserves" to get asked back next season. If they haven't determined that yet, I really wonder why?
  15. Dick Allen replied to fathom's topic in FutureSox Board
It is very possible Hawkins, Mitchell and Walker all wind up below .200 this season.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 13, 2013 -> 07:27 PM) Viciedo has 2 homers in 17 career ab's vs. Scherzer. Don't get it. Do we really need to find out what DeAza and Danks can do...? At this point? I get playing Garcia everyday, but it doesn't make much sense to play Jordan Danks so much/Tekotte. At least Adam Dunn is looking as good as he has in a White Sox uniform... Viciedo is hurt. His thumb is bothering him.
  17. If someone claimed Konerko, would they have to pick up the $1 million a year for the next 6-7 years on his contract? No ome will claim him probably either way, but if he wants to go somewhere, this will free the Sox to make a deal. I doubt he wants to go anywhere, but if there's an injury, and Paulie is feeling OK,you never know.
  18. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Aug 13, 2013 -> 03:11 PM) In an era where strikeouts are, overwhelmingly, at an all-time high across both leagues. Everyone above him has played at least 5 seasons more than him. He can make a mockery of the records. Jackson 2597 k 11,418 plate appearances Thome 2548 k 10,313 plate appearances Sosa 2306 k 9,896 plate appearances Dunn 2159 k 7,668 plate appearances
  19. Even if Dunn hits 600 homers, unless he has some crazy unheard of seasons, I pin his chances of the HOF at about 0%.
  20. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 13, 2013 -> 03:02 PM) I don't understand how "the shift" can be used as an excuse for decreased productivity. Isn't the name of the game to hit the ball where the defense isn't? When he steps in the batters box, the defense is already lined up in the shift. I don't buy that it's bad luck for him, it is up to him to adjust. They shift for David Ortiz and he seems to be doing fine. Exactly. There is a shift for every hitter. It's just not as extreme, except for Ted Williams. Check out his numbers. Dunn is only 438 ks away from being the all time leader.
  21. One thing that might keep his price a little lower is the Dodgers have no place for him.
  22. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Aug 12, 2013 -> 11:09 PM) Any chance Torres used the sox history to inform them abreu could be an option. If Torres represents him the sox should be in play. Doesn't Torres represent a lot more guys who don't play for the White Sox than actually do? I don't think he would steer this guy towards the team for a lesser deal. It's all about the money. He will probably wind up in Boston.
  23. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 12, 2013 -> 10:44 AM) I wouldnt cross anyone off. Who really saw the A's winning the Cespedes bidding? Sometimes small market teams do surprising things Minnesota's owner mentioned spending a lot of money this winter.
  24. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Aug 12, 2013 -> 10:46 AM) Well, I think he means the fact that organization has been successful in acclimating Cuban defectors into the league before. It implies that the White Sox are aware of the challenges facing defectors and that they've been willing and able to support them. I think he means their being here would make him more comfortable. It really doesn't matter. In the end, what really will matter is cash money.
  25. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Aug 12, 2013 -> 09:51 AM) Dayan and Alexei are kind of a selling point for guys like this Which is kind of funny considering this board's sentiment towards getting rid of both.
