  1. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 11:44 AM) So pretty much every team says they are "out" on Peavy. Probably doesn't mean anything, but interesting....Hahn must be being a real pain in the ass. Bob Nightengale, who really is one of the better ones with White Sox info, says the Cardinals are still very interested in Peavy.
  2. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 11:41 AM) So Beane probably offered less than they could get for him this winter, hoping to rent him for free, and perhaps a little profit, the last 2/3 months. Exactly, while asking for money. Peavy for free. Moneyball.
  3. I just hope the Sox don't send Tekotte as a kicker for any deal. He is outstanding at getting thrown out on the bases. I think he can even get better at it once father time kicks in a little bit, and he loses a step.
  4. Supposedly Oakland's plan if they got Peavy, was to trade him this winter.
  5. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 10:47 AM) If you have to resort to using all that misinformation that's out there to build your case then you have lost already. Quoting a misquote , none quote, or crap that was made up and then using it to try and find some consistency in Hahns actions does not compute. The White Sox and just about every other team throw misinformation out there. Things are leaked that they want leaked. Very little legitimate trade talk has ever been out there about the White Sox the last several years. Hahn is a new GM. He has an opportunity to make a reputation. Like has been stated, this is like a card game. Having a reputation as a guy who doesn't bluff can make you a big winner, and it doesn't necessarily mean you don't bluff.
  6. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 10:41 AM) Ther's an old saying that applies here and that is if Hahn started him he would be " cutting off his nose to spite his face ." Can't see the forest for the trees would also apply. The big picture is right in front you .You you cannot risk PV getting hurt under any circumstances . None , zip, nada !! All your hard work will be worth nothing if by "playin" the f*** you I'll show you I mean business card, it blows up in your face. If Peavy gets injured his first start with another team, there will be adjustments to the trade. They will claim he was damaged goods. So really worrying about him getting hurt is moot. If he's that close to something going really wrong, any trade will be adjusted. There simply is not enough time for a complete physical.
  7. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 10:40 AM) I think Olney misquoted what was being said. Jon Heyman said that the White Sox "aren't afraid to keep Peavy" and build around him, which is more likely what we have been saying. You are showing you are afraid to keep him. Unless Jake mentally can't be 100%, which is very possible, if he is still on the roster, I think you start him.
  8. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 10:31 AM) I think there isa fine line between a tough negotiator and being unreasonable. Keeping PV out is a courtesy. If you get known as unreasonable, I think it hurts your abilityto trade in the future because others will stay away. This is his first year so he needs to be tough as he's shown but also willing to work things out. That's a good point, but don't say one day "we will keep him and build around him" or have it floated out there, and the next, hold him from his start because you may trade him. I understand all of the misinformation that is out there, and realize most GMs know what is real and what is not, but if you are going to say it, make it at least appear as real as possible. If you get a reputation as someone who won't bluff, other teams have to act accordingly, and then when you bluff, you get away with it a little more.
  9. QUOTE (QuickJones81 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 10:32 AM) According to Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun the Orioles are out on Peavy and covet Bud Norris and Sale. One in the hand is worth two in the bush, so to me the conversation starts with Bundy AND Gausman plus 2 to 3 lottery ticket prospects. Thoughts? You can get a current TJ patient for a future patient. It could come down to the battle of the surgeons.
  10. So will Rienzo be an epic bust or future HOF 12 hours from now?
  11. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 09:58 AM) I think you over think things Starting him is like kicking sand in your trade partners face. You want the team that trades for him to be able to start him ASAP. It's a gesture of good will. OH yeah starting him means you risk injury DUH. PV gets injured you get NOTHING ! SIMPLE FREAKIN CONCEPT. I'd start him. It would be Hahn sending a message that if you want to screw around, you pay the consequences. It cost you at least one Peavy start. It's a message for this deal and future deals. I fully expect him to be an ex-White Sox by gametime however. Don't they have to make a move for Rienzo?
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 09:05 AM) Where is Paul Sullivan going? Munchkinland. He's going to represent the Lollipop Guild.
  13. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 08:33 PM) False alarm. Dudes really taking a poop. When he was MIA at USCF i thought he was just waiting in line at a concession stand.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 08:31 PM) How the heck do you know what Andre Reinzo looks like well enough to recognize him from a shot in the dugout? It was someone I didn't recognize so I hit the google.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 08:26 PM) The Sox dugout or the Knights dugout? Sox dugout. When they showed Danks after he was lifted sitting in the dugout, Rienzo or at least a really good double was sitting right next to him.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 08:20 PM) Prospects don't have a risk of injury? Really the Sox should build some glass cases on the concourse and put their best players in there for the fans to look at during games, and just sign a bunch of recently released guys to play, because who cares if they get hurt?
  17. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 06:37 PM) What the f*** does that mean? Ozzie hijacked his twitter account.
  18. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 06:25 PM) Rienzo called up? People saying this on Twitter. He might be flying to Cleveland just in case. It could be a deal is done. It could be more gamesmanship.
  19. What mixed signals? You either pay a fair price or you don't get the player. The White Sox don't have to trade Peavy. If the offers aren't there you can trade him in the winter or keep him and try to win next year. I don't understand why a price being considered too high is being called mixed signals. I think it is a pretty clear signal.
  20. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 03:28 PM) https://twitter.com/MDGonzales/status/361945049682022400 Of course he's gone. It makes zero sense to keep him unless he wants to agree to a team friendly extension today.
  21. They do it all the time. They have weekly deals on their website.
  22. QUOTE (Jillian Michaels' Abs @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 02:33 PM) 2013 and 2014 will likely have the same outcome as 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. The White Sox are stuck with Alex Rios, whether the Sox and Sox fans like it or not. What value does he have on the trade market? Sure, he isn't a defensive liability, he runs well and can steal bases, he hits for a decent average and can hit a homer every once in a while. But - he doesnt do anything exceedingly well, has a perceived lax attitude and makes a lot of money this season AND next. There are plenty of fringy replacement-level guys that can be had. Ales Rios isnt a difference-maker and at his salary and the Sox reported trade demands, he needs to be. But, he isn't. We're stuck with him. That's what I don't get posters thinking teams would like to have him. Right now, offensively he is 13th in baseball as a RF. Average. Since June 1 he has a .665 OPS. That is what Paul Konerko has put up this year. Plus with perceived motivational issues, why would anyone pick up that contract, let alone give you anything of significance for that opportunity?
  23. QUOTE (whitesox901 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 02:27 PM) Why didn't they just replace the Cubs guy with the Gonzo's Sox replacement? You would have to ask them, but probably because they want their senior person on the team more people are interested in.
  24. Confirmed he's going to the Cubs. http://www.chicagonow.com/chicago-sports-m...-white-sox-834/
