  1. People do realize Dave Martinez makes Robin seem as loud as Ozzie don't they?
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 04:20 PM) It is going to be Jake's last start in Chicago as a White Sox and he wanted to give him some love from the fans, and give the fans a chance to give him a standing O. I get it. It is a classy move from a true players manager to recognize Jake and his impact on the team, players, and fans. I've got no problem with it. That is what it was. If they still were playing by the old rules he could have pulled him after he warmed up, but you have to face a batter now . Why so many are enraged is beyond me. Just like the poster who thinks Ventura is "losing the team" based on the Rios and Sale incidents. Letting Rios get away with that could lose the clubhouse. Rios' head is so far up his ass, he has been pulled before for the same thing and still thinks Ventura embarrassed him by pulling him from the game after the next half inning. No Alex, you embarrassed yourself and your team by loafing again, behavior he even said was unacceptable. As for Sale, the first thing he did after the game was talk to Robin and apologize. He understood he was wrong. Players know Robin will treat them like grown men and he has their back.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 08:15 PM) Turn it the other way. What possible benefit is there from running him out there? Give me a cost/benefit analysis here. Maybe the cost hasn't gone up much, but what's the reward? Are you going to run him out there the whole inning and throw him 135 pitches? They weren't just leaving him out there for a righty to bring in a lefty for the next batter since a righty came in anyway. The bullpen didn't need a 1 batter shorter outing, they're not that tired? What on Earth was the goal? He had been dealing. As far as I know Jake didn't get hurt so all the complaining is about nothing. What if Hahn doesn't trade him before his next start? Should he be skipped? Everyone is always so worried about guys playing and the potential to get hurt. Thibs was criticized for having Rose in the game when he got hurt, when as the people who complained said, the game was pretty much decided. Now those same people complained when they knew the Bulls had less of a chance of winnng a championship as they had in losing the game when Rose blew out his knee, for Rose NOT playing this past season. Everyone up in arms over Peavy coming out in the 8th would be a lot more effective if, you know, he actually did get hurt,.
  4. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 03:28 PM) That is not the point. He finished with a K and several pitches over 100 to end the 7th. So what is the point? If he is done with the White Sox and winning doesn't matter this year, and his value isn't affected, exactly what is the point?
  5. Take a breath and ask yourself, does that one AB do anything to damage Peavy's trade value?
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 03:21 PM) Those two starts against Minnesota, awesome. Way to earn that $14.5 million I think Sale was worse against DET than Peavy last year.
  7. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 03:04 PM) Tigs fans on MotownTigers freaking out about Verlander. That contract looks horrible, but they're saying s*** like he's their 6th best starter, shouldn't be in their playoff rotation, etc So it's a lot like Soxtalk. It's every board actually. I was reading some board when Toews was having that horrid game in the playoffs against Detroit. They were saying Q should be fired for putting up with it. One guy said if Q was anything but worthless he would take the trainer with scissors with him to the penalty box and cut the C off Toews jersey (sweater)
  8. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 03:03 PM) Verlander horrible. Trade him, Tigers. He either should retire or the Tigers should just swallow hard and release him.
  9. Flowers IS responsible for that home run. Good for him. He is a lousy #1 catcher, but a good back up.
  10. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 02:54 PM) It was broken in the Cub game, too. His velocity was sub-90 the entire game So without the broken rib, his ERA is below 3.00 this year.
  11. People talk about his ERA being high, you throw out the game he tried to pitch with a broken rib and its about 3.50. You throw out the game before that when the Cubs lit him up and he may have been injured, it's under 3.00.
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 01:05 PM) So there are more scouts in attendance than there are Sox fans? Don't say that at WSI. One of their mods responded to a David Shuester tweet saying the same thing ripping about his career. Shuester told him to go scratch using some profane words. The mod then took it to Shuester's boss trying to get him in trouble.
  13. Yeah. Buehrle never shook off AJ (although he has been having problems with the Toronto catchers), but ultimately, pitch selection is on the pitcher.
  14. It is a day game after a night game, but I think Peavy is the real reason Flowers is playing.
  15. Well you would be crazy to think Flowers has much of a chance vs. Verlander especially when he only now bats sporatically.
  16. Maybe the Tigers bag this game to try to facilitate Peavy leaving the divison.
  17. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 01:38 PM) If Peavy pitches well get him out after 5 or 6 innings max. The way this season is going, he'll probably have a 2 hitter with 2 outs in the 6th, someone will hit a weak chopper to first and Peavy will sprain his ankle covering first. Although, if they are intending to compete next year, I'd rather they keep him. It does seem like they are going to trade him so maximize that value.
  18. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 12:13 PM) I see your point. What teams in the NL though? Braves? Dodgers? Dbacks? Rogers did say if he was healthy the Braves was a done deal. Maybe they do it anyway. If they think it's reasonable he will be healthy a week after the deadline, I would assume his price tag shouldn't drop too much. You can think of it as he had another week of rest. I don't think he was going to bring back much more than a lottery ticket anyway. I think he still might, before the deadline.
  19. Actually, this really isn't all that bad assuming he doesn't have anything that will keep him out the rest of the season. NL teams know he will not be available to them after the deadline because he won't clear so they may give up something useful. And the teams that are on top in the AL may as well knowing that someone below them could claim him, he could be totally healthy and the White Sox would have zero reason not to just let him go as a salary dump for nothing at that point.
  20. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 11:49 AM) Maybe it was just a black guy in a suit It may explain the Sox lack of success with prospects.
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 11:02 AM) People on Twitter are saying Kenny Williams has been spotted in Altoona, PA. Too bad the Altoona Curve are in the middle of a 10-day road trip. Maybe Altoona is nice this time of year.
  22. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 11:04 AM) He would have to pass a physical, right? Not always. I'm sure if someone is trading for him, they will want to see the latest the Sox have, and it obviously is pretty recent, but he was touching 94 on Sunday which I doubt he could do if his rib was still broken.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 03:49 PM) How are you defining "Marquee"? Carlton Fisk Albert Belle Adam Dunn That's 3 big money guys right there. Do we go down the list to Dye as well? Fisk was 32 years ago. Belle was 16 years ago.
  24. Hawk talking about the Sox messing with Cameron. Bevington was the manager. Hriniak the hitting coach.
  25. I don't know if Phegley ultimately pans out, but at the very least, we don't have to watch Tyler Flowers try to hit on a daily basis anymore.
