AJ Did Not Test Positive; No Story Here
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 6, 2012 -> 08:56 AM) Thanks for posting, but that makes Mully's source seem even more legit/accurate then. And it makes all the others seem like total lies.

AJ Did Not Test Positive; No Story Here
QUOTE (Real @ Sep 6, 2012 -> 08:33 AM) Coop on the score now, says he hasn't heard anything about this and isn't even worth talking about since it's just a rumor Mully clarified the MLB response. Sox front office heard the rumors, and contacted MLB yesterday/last night about this situation and were told there's nothing to it Amazing the Sox didn't know about it, but workers at the Cell did and knew all about a press conference.

AJ Did Not Test Positive; No Story Here
Considering the origin of this entire thread was from what someone heard from a friend who works at the Score and now the Score says it's false, I would think any more speculation is moot.

AJ Did Not Test Positive; No Story Here
QUOTE (Real @ Sep 6, 2012 -> 06:10 AM) according to mully and hanley this morning, MLB has flat out denied that this story has any truth to it they did not issue a "no comment" or "can't confirm/deny" statement, Mike Mulligan said they flat out called it false FWIW Does this mean the press conference in which the White Sox forgot to invite the press is cancelled? A lot of people around the country are going to be pissed. A few on this board as well.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 07:20 PM) Who thinks he still may get $10M a year? No shock that the Giants went from trying to sign Melky to breaking off talks and trading for another OF after the ASB. It's only September and FA signings usually dont start happening until the winter meetings. You really think lawyers would be able to stretch this out for another 3-4 months at the very minimum? They have to stretch it out about 4 weeks.

AJ Did Not Test Positive; No Story Here
QUOTE (zenryan @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 06:59 PM) If lawyers could stretch this out, you'd think Melky would have done so. I'd be more shocked if he wasn't on something. Or maybe he's just lucky to be having a career year at 35 during a contract season. They did stretch it out, and it ran to where it will be over 5 games after the regular season. Melky was also making $6 million, is 28 and people still think he may be able to get $10 million a year, so it would be more advantageous financially for Melky to serve his suspension this season. For AJ, if there is any truth to it, it would be the opposite.

AJ Did Not Test Positive; No Story Here
One thing halfway decent lawyers are good it is dragging things out. AJ is making $6 million this year. If he had a positive PED test, there is no way at his age he will get anything close to that rate during his next contract. If he tested positive 2 weeks ago like what is being claimed, his people could stretch this out until the offseason and he'll get paid plus perhaps make some playoff money.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 06:49 PM) Say they were to have a press conference tomorrow at the Cell (I know they're not typically announced at a press conference, but it doesn't mean KW can't hold one). If there was a press conference, maybe it's workers there trying to connect the dots?? If there was a press conference scheduled at USCF tomorrow, wouldn't the press know about it?

2012 White Sox Catch-All thread
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 05:55 PM) Quentin: .262/.371/.502 in 77 games Viciedo: .239/.282/.371 in his last 77 games So an .873 OPS for Quentin in the toughest hitters park in MLB versus a .653 for Viciedo over that same time. Huge difference. Quentin's a good player, but you have to account for the time he's not available when evaluating his overall worth.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 06:39 PM) Maybe hes not appealing If he's not appealing and he failed the drug test 2 weeks ago, it doesn't make much sense he's been playing. They wouldn't say, "oh you have an off day on Sept. 6th, that will be a convenient time to start your suspension".

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 06:00 PM) I don't know what all goes into such an appeal process but it probably shouldn't take 2 weeks IMO. I would imagine it takes longer than 2 weeks. I had to take a drug test for work and that took 2 weeks. With a gathering of information and probably a re-test on some of the sample, plus the lawyers getting involved, it would seem to me it would take at least 4 weeks and probably more on an appeal.

Is the press conference before or after the Bulls press conference announcing Lebron is coming to town. Wasn't he looking at property on the North Shore? Do teams have press conferences with PED suspensions? Isn't usually a statement "by" the offender written by his agent? BTW, Mark Gonzalez hears a lot of rumors that aren't true.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 02:56 PM) After what happened in SF, no reporter in Chicago is going to risk his relationship in Chicago without someone to blame. There is nothing to risk if its true. The risk is if its a BS rumor.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 02:56 PM) Or he dances in a ring of fire...(Jim Morrison) Either way, we'll take it. You're ripping Hawk for talking about Ted Williams during a baseball game, and you work in Jim Morrison? Keshawn Johnson says, c'mon, man.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 02:50 PM) If it was a Red Sox broadcast, lol. I'd rather hear what Shoeless Joe Jackson, Aparicio, Fox or Luke Appling had to say had to say. Maybe Hawk can get a Harold Baines quote to use occasionally? Or Big Hurt/Ventura. I don't think Harold's wife could get a Harold quote.

AJ Did Not Test Positive; No Story Here
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 02:46 PM) He can't print it unless he can get someone to go on record. In a case like this, rumor isn't good enough. In this case, how many guys are there who have knowledge of the situation will speak up? The only reason someone spoke up in the Braun case is because of the extraordinary nature of the appeal. So you saying are everyone needs someone to go on record, and if no one will go on record, how is it that this rumor is out there? A Score guy knows supposedly, so they tell their staff, but tell them only to tell their friends? Why would someone with credibility not be an anonymous source, especially if everyone supposedly hates AJ? Just because some don't like AJ I get is reason to believe this rumor is true, just like when DRose tore his ACL again rehabbing. I guess a lot of people buy the National Equirer and believe everything they read, although that's more credible than this source at this time. Maybe its true, but I would really doubt it, and if it was, how could Terry Boers and Dan Bernstein not at least vaguely reference it?

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 02:37 PM) If Mark Gonzalez is hearing rumors of it then it has more substance. There are just so many things going against AJ, including the current MLB environment where players are still getting busted too frequently. He heard the rumor but couldn't confirm it. Just like you heard the rumor. He hears a lot of things that aren't true. There's a good chance if it were true, someone would have put it in ink by now.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 02:35 PM) Made it through nearly 1 1/2 hours of a game before the first Ted Williams quote. I'd love to hear what a guy who missed 3 prime seasons in military service but still with a lifetime .344 avg. .482 OBP and 1.116 OPS had to say about hitting.

QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 02:23 PM) Because sometimes where there's smoke, there's fire. All it takes is for one person to talk. And if something is under appeal, it could take weeks to come to a conclusion. There's plenty of time for rumors to go around. But hopefully there is nothing legit here. Time will tell, or not. Ok, I'm done talking about this. Its a rumor, most rumors are false. In that sense, since no one is reporting it, its "looking good".

QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 02:22 PM) And this right handed lineup not surprisingly sucks. If they had an all lefty line up and had a 4-1 lead after 4, I'd think you would be happy.

Kenny questions team strategy in Detroit this past weekend.
According to the Sun Times, the players were encouraged repeatedly to bunt on Cabrera. KW does need to be careful about ever publicly dissing Robin. Ozzie, people could see how he could aggrevate you, but if KW ever gave Robin too much crap he decided to walk away, the Sox would have a tough time attracting top candidates for the job. If you can't get along with Robin, chances are you aren't going to be getting along with many people.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 02:02 PM) Let's just say if AJ was on another team and this leaked out I'd pretty much believe it was true at this point. Of course we'll see in the next few days/weeks more about it but it's not looking good. Why is it "not looking good"?

Ben Duronio on Sale's Slider
It was interesting to hear the ESPN crew talk about Sale and his slider in particular. They claimed KW thought Sale was throwing too many sliders and that is why he was moved to the bullpen earlier this year. KW doesn't think his arm could handle it.
