  1. You can say RH is a bad GM, but the one thing you can't say is he is a mouthbreather. Mouthbreathers don't graduate from Michigan, get a law degree at Harvard and an MBA at NU.
  2. There is no doubt in my mind, he is one of a few on this board who would rather have the team suck so they can b**** and moan all day than actually be good. Although he does seem to have all the answers. Amazing he is posting on a message board and not collection Executive of the Year hardware every year.
  3. Which would make the Kimbrel trade more pitiful. And some haven't learned their lesson yet, and want the Sox to trade Vaughn. The Sox need a few cheap productive players or a new owner if you don't want the "windows to quickly close.
  4. He's 30 years old, 2021 might no have been a fluke.
  5. Its funny a guy with 245 minor league plate appearances in 2019 and a camp in 2020 is supposed to come to the major leagues in 2021 as a finished product, all the while playing out of position. The guy is going to be a great hitter. He showed it after a tough start. He ended poorly. It could have been an injury or it could be he hit a wall as he never played that many games in his life.
  6. Bears have 4 playoff victories the last 30 seasons. The only teams with less are Washington with 3 and Cincinnati and Detroit with 0.
  7. As some point though, it really doesn't matter if you're a billionaire, or you simply have enough money to do whatever you want the rest of your life. I know most want to leave their kids something, their grandchildren something., and many players if not most, will be able to do that even if they "retired" at 35. The fact is, we are the stooges. We throw money at both the owners and the players. We don't retire at 35. We don't complain we have to make a few lifetimes of what most who really fund this endeavor for 6 months of work. All to be enertained. And when they can't decide how to split the money we throw at them, the entertaining stops. Maybe it's time the fans looked at themselves in a mirror. Both parties suck in many ways.
  8. Here's what I don't understand. How do they know it is going to make them a ton of money when it's sold? It's a business. If it's almost impossible to make money until the business is sold, it's not going to keep increasing in value, especially not at the rate it is increasing. I will believe they are struggling financially when one team is actually forced to either sell or go out of business because business is so bad.
  9. Vaughn shouldn't be traded for a guy who has hit under .200 the last 2 seasons combined, with 2 years of control at more than $15 million per year. If Bellinger was a White Sox, you would hate him, and would be whining why didn't Hahn trade him when he was MVP.
  10. Coming soon to GRF, Wrigley ,Soldier Field and the United Center...............sportsbooks. Go to the game, Place your bets.
  11. The supposed reason JR was the only owner to vote against Manfred was that he believed he was too soft towards the players' union.
  12. Think about how excited everyone would have been if the Bears fired Nagy a year ago, and replaced him with Meyer. That's why, IMO, college coaches are a crapshoot. You may hit the jackpot, but you also may crap out. Was it really coaching or recruiting that made OSU so great?
  13. The Steelers have only had 3 head coaches since the end of the 1968 season.
  14. The funny thing is every team has multiple hitting and pitching coaches now, even LaRussa. Much like Einhorn with the PPV, Hawk’s thought was just too far ahead of its time. But it was a circus. Talking to Martin was fine, but it was pretty public. I remember they met with him at O’Hare, and there were TV crews there. This was before the Internet or it may have been even a bigger spectacle. I am not and never was a LaRussa guy, but publicly wooing Martin was so wrong.
  15. I heard it had to do with the state of the Sox farm system. They had a chance in 1985 but when someone got hurt, everyone they brought up didn't belong in the major leagues. I guess Hawk had a plan and JR bought it.
  16. I sat next to him at a spring training game against the Yankees back in the 80s. He was really nice and was telling me and my dad about failed trades etc. The Sox won and Roland said at the end it was always nice to beat George even in spring training. Every nice thing thar was said about him is probably true based on 3 hours around him. RIP.
  17. Next 2 games ppd. Finally common sense.
  18. It's ridiculous. There is a pretty decent chance at least a couple of the remaining 8 are going to be positive soon. Having them play another team and exposing them isn't going to help .
  19. I am not too concerned with his throwing. It should get better when he is more comfortable and gets more protection. I am worried he is a guy who could be injured a lot. He goes down awkwardly a lot. Eventually, he is going to pay for it. He also fumbles a ton. He needs to clean that up a bit, but I think all things considered, he looks pretty good. There is definitely some hope. Hopefully they will bring someone in who can help him.
  20. Since he took over as Chairman 11 seasons ago the Bears have had 1 winning season and 0 playoff wins. George needs to letsomone else have a shot. He makes his late brother look like a football genius.
  21. Nagy is obviously getting fired, but the Bears are 46-63 under Ryan Pace with 2 coaching hires. Why is it even a question he gets to hire a third? Deactivate his key card and his computer password immediately.
  22. If this goes right near the beginning of spring training, the middle class is going to be squeezed big time with signing frenzies usually geared toward big names and cheap signings. If I am a player, I would want this finished with ample time to get players signed before spring training begins.
  23. The Astros farm is currently ranked right with the Sox. So their window must be closed. I just looked at a 2017 farm ranking list. The Orioles were one spot higher than the Blue Jay's. Go figure. All it takes is one or two guys breaking out and the farm is in good shape. The Sox don't have a lot of holes. One thing that would help is if they could develop some reliable relievers. Everyone frets how Cleveland develops pitchers. They haven't had a 1st round pitcher make the majors since the 2000s.
  24. Yes, but you can't play that game anymore. I will give you there is no reason the Sox didn't spend their international allotment especially during a rebuild. But the bonus pools were music to JRs ears, and it isn't as easy building that way anymore. And the other thing is that team has won once. And it was under a huge cloud . There is no guaranteed way. I am not holding water for JR. 41 seasons and has only won a playoff series in 1 of those 41.
  25. If every team had their first round pick from 2016-2020 graduate, would they still be one of the worst? I personally really don’t care where their farm system is ranked, just as long as the team in Chicago wins games.
