  1. Using catcher ERA when 1 bad start makes all the difference is ridiculous. Are you saying Gio would have not had a bad start if Collins caught him vs Boston? And I personally feel a CERA of 0.90 is pretty good. It would indicate to me the pitcher is pretty comfortable with the catcher. Since Grandal has been on base 13 times his last 4 games the haters have to find something I guess, no matter how ridiculous it is.
  2. This is ridiculous. Giolito's is one bad start. That was on Grandal? And Rodons ERA is below 1.00 with Grandal and he is more comfortable with someone else? The Grandal is so bad train is off the rails.
  3. So moving forward, everyone agrees Grandal is no more than a .120 hitter. I don’t understand the love for Collins. I read here lots of times he was a waste, and the first time he shows enough where some team would give anything for him, the Sox need to dump him. Now, after a few good games , he is clearly the catcher of the future.

    Rodon

He’s pitched 30 innings. He has had terrific 30 inning stretches before. Not as terrific as this stretch. I just wonder with his limited use in recent years how many innings he has in him this season, and whether or not he will hold up. I am guessing the Sox ride him as far as they can and see where everything ends up. If he wins the Cy Young, Boras will get him ridiculous money and he will be gone. So the better he goes, the less likely he come back.
  5. Albert's a HOFer so he's legit. Yermin is late so he is not. There is no way the Sox sign Pujols, but if they do, there should be a fan revolt.
  6. Remember when Tony thought it was 2008 and put Pujols on? That was awesome.
  7. Maybe, but most wanted the Sox to pay up for Joc Pederson. How has he been over that same timeframe? Springer was the guy or Harper or Machado. If they signed Manny, Moncada is probably a RF, maybe a CF now. Going cheap rarely pays off. The Sox have really sucked at signing the middle guys. They have done well with a couple of bargain guys, but once you get into the middle class, JR, KW and RH are lost.
  8. I would venture to guess that 99.99999% of the posters who don't think TLR should necessarily have to know the rules since the announcers didn't and Frank and Ozzie didn't, would have fully held Ricky Renteria accountable for not knowing the rules if he was in the dugout. LaRussa is a hack. IMO, he always was, but give him his Oakland and St. Louis days. At the very least, it is rather obvious this isn't a guy who is 3 or 4 steps ahead of everyone else. Yesterday and a few other examples have shown he is at least one step behind.
  9. It's kind of hard to tell your 84 year old boss, the 76 year old manager he handpicked doesn't have it anymore. I really think, at least I hope, that the reason KW and RH provided no blow back when JR mentioned his horrific idea, was they thought there was zero chance Tony would say yes .
  10. I doubt it. The one thing that might have happened if a non pitcher was on 3rd is they might not have thrown through on Leury's steal attempt.
  11. Bevington did some weird crap and the players hated him. He will always be known for signaling to the bullpen with no one warming up, but no one mentions the time when a bad call went the Sox way and he went out to argue anyway. Both managers were screaming at the same umpire. Oddly enough, Tony's run in Oakland ended while Bevington was still around and JR wanted to bring him back, but Schueler didn't want him,and he wasn't hired. That was a sharper 50 year old version of Tony. One thing this not knowing the rules proves is Tony isn't this mad baseball genius spending his days looking for an edge. That wouldn't be sincere. Wouldn't be legit. .
  12. Tony is the manager. He should know the rules. We would expect Renteria to know the rules. Fans expect Matt Nagy to know the rules. Whether that cost the Sox the game, we will never know but why is no one questioning Tony's covering for Hendiks, saying he is a closer and since he wasn't closing it was not a good spot for him. Then why the fuck is he pitching? Nothing the guy says makes ay sense like his Yermin being scratched story. Maybe he has had too much to drink over the years and is getting pickled.
  13. One thing JR won't do is admit he was wrong. We are stuck with Tony until Tony realizes he has lost whatever he had. I think, especially if they miss the playoffs, he will call it a day after one season.
  14. Ozzie questioning why Billy Hamilton was hitting. Second time they counted on him late, second time he struck out.
  15. Ozzie doesn't blame LaRussa for not knowing the rules. Why should have to know the rules?
  16. Tony didn't have to use Hendriks as the runner. He didn't know. He also said Hendriks is a closer so the 10th inning wasn't his thing, but for some reason he had him out there. God he is bad.
  17. Even Our Chuck just said there was some questionable coaching decisions. I hope Phil Rogers wasn't watching his spoiled White Sox fan ass.
  18. White Sox fans were calling for Tony's firing from 1980 through when he was fired, except for the second half of 1983. This isn't ageism. It's not liking how a guy runs a team. When you are stacked, it doesn't matter. Tony has had the great fortune of managing teams with great players. Once those great players left or got hurt, his teams were bad.
  19. I told you before all the injuries you will be seeing guys play in places they never played under Tony. But Lamb and Vaughn trying LF does at least make some sense.
  20. And he is now out for supposedly an extended period. That was a nice non signing.
  21. Madrigal is having a better season than Tommy LaStella. Go figure.
