He has everything working against him. Very inexperienced. Learning a new position. Sporadic playing time. That isn't helping. I know eventually he is going to be one of the better, if not the best, hitters on the team.

4-18 GT: Sox @ Boston - Game 1 (12:10pm)
Dick Allen replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in 2021 Season in Review
White Sox have swept their last 2 DHs at Fenway. Also 30 years ago today Comiskey Park II opened. I was there for the 16-0 loss to the Tigers. -
I think so, but for a team that supposedly has either the best or one of the best bullpens in baseball, and the greatest user of the bullpen ever managing, they are getting beat late and out bullpened at an alarming rate. It still was a 1 run game yesterday when Tony decided to waive the white flag and insert Ruiz.

Vaughn is uncharacteristically swinging at bad pitches. I think he sees his average on the scoreboard and it is messing with him.
-
He hit one about 420 today. Anywhere else that was 4 RBI.
-
So Cease sucks so bad he struck out 4 in a row.
-
Maybe he still has an issue with his knee. 4 games in 43 hours probably meant he would only catch 2 of them anyway. But Collins has been pretty good.
-
So I imagine Sunday's games become 7 inning affairs, and that is 3 games in a 22 hour period.

I was a lttle kid at a game vs. Minnesota in September of that year. The Twins had a couple of September call ups in their line up, and they didn't have their names on the back of their uniforms. Doby protested the game. I remember the crowd laughing at the announcement.

So far, Joc Pederson not taking the White Sox money is working out for the Sox. Although, it probably costs them a couple of spring training wins.
-
We need Ron to make some Jose Abreu sucks threads to get him hot again.
-
Will the Cubs release him?

Phil Humber pitched a perfect game. I always liked Rodon more than most, but it was time to non tender him when he was non tendered. His current form is extremely encouraging, but he has a history of things falling apart one way or another. Hopefully this time is different, and his career takes off, but I wouldn't bet on it.

The Atlantic league will be experimenting with a pitching rubber 1 foot farther back and a double hook DH, where you lose your DH once you yank your starter. So if your starter gets lit up and you fall behind, you lose your DH, more reason for people to go home because they think the game is over.

Sox vs Indians - Tuesday, April 13th, 710pm
Dick Allen replied to smalls2598's topic in 2021 Season in Review
That’s a good point. It’s not like anyone needs a rest. But this isn’t new for Tony. He always falls in love with some crappy player. Nick Williams now. You can question him playing Leury so much vs. RHP, his weakness. He has also had him play 4 positions already, so not making it easier on him. Hopefully the Sox line up gets going soon and going so well Tony can’t fuck around. It’s kind of like Ryan Pace and draft picks, he often doesn’t do the obvious in an attempt to be the smartest guy in the room. -

Tony has always loved his end of the bench. -

I’m sure Yermin doesn’t mind his day off is against Bieber. Although you would kind of like your hottest bats facing him. -
Hendriks will be fine because Magick

Whatever gets his mind in the right place, thinking the right things is fine by me. -
Cowboy Joe West awarded $500k in a defamation suit against Paul LoDuca. LoDuca claimed Billy Wagner told him Joe was giving him an extra 3 to 4 inches because Wagner let Joe use his car. Turns out Cowboy Joe never umpired a game with LoDuca catching and Billy Wagner pitching. LoDuca told this lie on a radio show. What an idiot.
-
You do realize if Eloy doesn't get hurt, Vaughn is on the team, and Yermin is enjoying what Schaumburg has to offer. The point is, if the Sox don't feel Vaughn is ready to play every day, it made zero sense having him on the roster and starting his clock. Either play him or send him down.

White Sox supplant Cubs on QC radio, bit of a shocker
Dick Allen replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
They got rid of Wayne Hagin because they thought he and Rooney sounded too much alike. And when you think about it , it shows how delicate a broadcasting career is. He sounds just like John Rooney, yet he goes on and has a nomadic , journeyman type of career, where Rooney picks his job, and may win a Frick award. -
Rodon indeed scratched. Foodies Know All.

I think she gets points responding to Drunk LaRussa. -
You would have to leave. Splits require tickets to both games.

I am thinking Rodon is on for tonight, -
One thing they could do to save time is make managers signal to the bullpen before they get inside the baseline. The bullpen knows what is going to happen, give them walkie talkies if you have to. Quit wasting time letting the guy walk to the mound, have a long conversation and then go to the bullpen. You can probably save 5 minutes a game streamlining that particular act, and moving it into the 21st century.
