There is a better chance the pitcher you trade him for gets hurt or busts . Paul Konerko is supposedly the poor man’s Andrew Vaughn.

Hector probably has some inside info, but like the fast food guys, it is limited and when you are being hounded 24 hours a day on twitter, some crave the attention and expand with their limited info. I think he does the same. While he probably does have access to certain information, he wants to give the illusion he actually has more than he really does.
-
Why would he even be retweeting Heyman if Cruz is signing with the Sox soon? He totally contradicted himself. It's all BS. It didn't make sense.
-
RIP. I just saw him the other day getting his Covid shot. He seemed healthy.

If anyone knows how to handle steroid aided sluggers, it's Tony LaRussa.

I actually don't mind Eaton. If he gives you what he did in 2019 we will all be OK with it. His offense was about the same as it was with the White Sox. I know it was closer to league average, but RF has some studs. I would imagine the mean is lower than average and since the Sox weren't shopping at the top of the market, he is a decent gamble. But the fact is he is still a reclamation project and most teams in the White Sox situation would have been all over Springer, and/or Bauer and Hendriks. 1-3 for the Sox. Cruz is also looking for a 2 year contract.
-
If the White Sox don't play a lot of playoff baseball in 2021, and Lynn leaves, it was a bad trade. Hector is the only guy who has this Cruz stuff so I am not buying it. They need to spend their money on pitchers. They are short a starter or two. Everyone is going to be on an innings watch in 2021, If they sign Cruz in lieu of a good pitcher, they are setting themselves up for disappointment. They tried that in 1997. It led to the White Flag trade. You can't overcome a lack of pitching.
-
Or you can look at it for a team preaching sustained success and multiple championships, they swapped an up and comer young pitcher for an older 1 year guy, they signed an 80 year old with a history of DUIs to be the manager, they went for a reclamation project in RF, bought a 40 year old DH ( I still don't think this is true), and did get the best closer on the market.
-
I'm not buying it. If the Sox have that money to spend, they should spend it on pitching.
-
As far as I'm concerned, if the Sox sign Cruz he is a 40 year old just hitting his prime. Anyone else signs him, he is an obvious raging roider.

the old Corbin Burnes thread, we have a new Burnes thread

I read that, it was Callis i believe who said that. But, if he pitched 5 innings and had to depart in college, there's a good chance the White Sox pick someone else. He is obviously talented far more than most. I just hope he can stay healthy enough to enjoy a lucrative career. -

Maybe, but it's 5 innings. And an injury. The injury part was one reason he was still on the board. -

Yes. There is always going to be turnover. Some guys will get hurt. Some guys will eventually suck. Some guys may become disenchanted. The Cubs are a cautionary tale. They didn't have cheap guys that could come it when all of their other guys got expensive at the same time. And they are very different than the White Sox. If the White Sox roster was at Clark and Addison, they would have gone for Springer and/or Bauer, and Theo wouldn't have left. So if they can't afford it, the Sox can't. -

Several teams passed on him in June for other lottery picks, so I would say they are out there. -

But that is all part of it. If you are trading your cheap guys now, the guys that might be on team friendly deals when it is time to retool again, you are screwed. What if the Sox didn't have Eaton and Sale and Q to trade? They would suck ass. It can be avoided if you are willing to go at least close to luxury tax territory. But that isn't ever going to happen. -

We are basing all of our love on 5 IP. The concerning thing is he was held out in college, and he wound up hurt with the Sox. Crazier things have happened. I would never have thought Sale would make it as long as he did before the doctor came calling. Can the Sox do it again? -

I think they could have traded for another closer with a smaller price tag and still won the WS. Chapman wasn't exactly nails in the playoffs. -

Burnes is 50 inning removed from a season his ERA approached 9.00. The Brewers would be selling hign, and if they are selling, considering they are in a position to win, they may know something. -

The Sox bounty for sucking is Burger, Collins, Madrigal, Vaughn, and Crochet. Everything else came via trade or signing or draft pick they would have had if they had won 100 games. These guys all signed for around slot, so the extra pool means nothing either. You are going to need a couple of these guys if you want this to be sustained, because every year of success, the paychecks get bigger and you know Uncle Jer right now is shitting his pants at a league average payroll. Replacements cost a lot, especially when you are trying to win. The Cubs couldn't even do it. I bet they wish they just signed a 4th starter instead of paying up for Q. I bet they wish they went a tier lower for a closer when the traded for Chapman and still had Gleyber. Trading away your top guys when they seem to have very nice futures makes the window close quick. -
Jose Quintana...Signs with Angels (1YR 8M)
Dick Allen replied to ChiSoxFanMike's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Q might really like playing for Maddon. CA has something like a 13% state income tax on a salary that high. Of course he would only pay tax on half, but it's a decent chunk of money. It tells me the Sox weren't too interested in a reunion. -
Not only that, Trump denied Biden a government aircraft to get to DC. First time that has ever happened. Trump was given one by Obama. Can a person really be this petty? Good riddance.

It must be nice to be projected to suck at your job but still command $5 million.

As of now the Sox have 3 starters you would say are reliable. Giolito, Kuechel and Lynn. Cease, Lopez, Kopech all have issues. Katz might make Cease and Lopez reliable, Kopech, because you know he likes to be in shape, and ready to pitch so he probably didn't blow his routine off when he was out, might be just about ready to go. Or not for all. Obviously, top of the rotation would be better, but the Sox need innings. Just pick a guy that can give you back of the rotatiion innings. -
I would say the saddest part about this was the woman didn't want the story out because she thought this sicko sending her a dick pick being made public would ruin HER career, and she was probably correct.

I wonder what the percentage is of women who ever get one who look at it and think OMG I have to have it. I'm guessing zero. I do think this guy saw this was a woman new to the industry, from a foreign land, and he figured he could take advantage. I doubt he would have even tried sending one to a more established writer or reporter. He's basically a predator.
