  1. Speaking of catchers, 40 years ago today, the White Sox announced they had agreed to terms with Carlton Fisk. It took another 9 days for it to be official.
  2. Especially if people are willing to pay the current prices on Stubhub.
  3. I wish Kyle Long well, but I think we know how it is going to end.
  4. With the guidance of Mayor Lori Lightfoot and the City of Chicago, the White Sox are excited to welcome fans back to Guaranteed Rate Field at 20% capacity to start the 2021 regular season. In accordance with city and state physical distancing measures, seats will be distributed in pods ranging in size from 1-6. Season Ticket Holders will receive priority access to tickets based on their tenure and ticket package type. Single game tickets for the general public will not be available immediately. "White Sox baseball has always been about the fans and their connection to our team," said Brooks Boyer, White Sox chief revenue and marketing officer. "While the gameday experience will look different as we all adjust to protocols, we have worked tirelessly to put forth the best and safest way to welcome White Sox fans home to Guaranteed Rate Field. I am thrilled to be able to say today that White Sox baseball will be back in front of our fans at Guaranteed Rate Field!" Following the guidelines established by city and state public health officials, several new measures will be put in place to ensure the safest gameday experience possible, including: Mandatory masks worn properly by everyone ages two and up No congregating around and throughout the ballpark property Numerous hand sanitizer stations Mobile ticketing for contactless entry Physical distancing Contact tracing for all attendees No bags (except for small clutch purses, medical bags or diaper bags when infant is present) Enhanced cleaning protocols implementing frequent disinfecting using hospital-grade supplies on high-touch areas These guidelines are subject to change. 5. Yes. We knew he wasn't going to make the team. Who cares if he gets blasted? Now Burdi, different story, but it is March 8th.
  6. Just got an email from the White Sox. They will have pods of tickets available per homestand. Season ticketholders have priority based on tenure and type of package. He said package. They said capacity will be determined homestand by homestand. Masks will be required.
  7. He needs to let Eloy catch the ball. I love that he is aggressive and covers a lot of ground, but this happened a couple of times last year, and they are going to make a routine fly to LF a disaster with the ball flying out of his glove some day, and one or both guys getting hurt.
  8. I get Robert covers a lot of ground and is the better fielder, but with a routine flyball to LF, just let Eloy catch it before they both get hurt.
  9. A ticket is one thing, matching up a vaccine card with an ID is another. They can't just scan the code.
  10. If you had to show proof you were vaccinated, it would take hours to get in. And there is no way the city or county or state is going to leave it up to minimum wage employees to determine if your info is correct. The capacity will be determined by the number of people vaccinated and the rate of infection.
  11. It is going to be interesting how they spread everyone out. They are going to have to make some financial adjustments to some of the people in your situation. Someone is getting screwed.
  12. Whatever happened to a bullpen is a crapshoot? I guess if you have a good one, that is thrown away.
  13. It's 8,122 per game. Probably will start out season ticketholder only for a while. Even a few season ticketholders will be shutout at least a little bit. As a long time season ticketholder, I can say I have been to a lot of games there were nowhere near 8,122 in attendance.
  14. He shit his pants thinking the starter could not give up a run. Then he wound up screwed later on. He was bent over with his hands on his knees the entire series. Seems like a good guy, but clearly not a MLB playoff manager.
  15. Unless someone like Madrigal performs very poorly or someone gets hurt, Leuri isn't going to get much of a shot except for pinch running and maybe going in occasionally to LF late in a game.
  16. What will be interesting to me about the Cubs is their starting rotation. It will probably be by far the softest tossing in baseball. Can that still work? Will it be a huge disadvantage or perhaps an advantage because of uniqueness.
  17. Odorizzi to Houston.
  18. I don’t think this survey is very scientific. One factor is it’s easier to get a beer at a Sox game with smaller crowds, and lines, and a lot more access to vendors. If they were drawing 35k a night, it would be a little tougher to get a lot of beers.
  19. Ruiz has no options left. I can’t believe the Sox were so scared of losing him, they wouldn’t add another real pitcher who would have needed a spot on the 40.
  20. He was a bad signing because when you say you are going to spend money, you almost have to, and the Bulls usually lose the musical chairs game with the other teams that have room for max contracts, and all that usually gets you is Boozer or Eddie Robinson or Ron Mercer. 2 of them who JR paid to go home.
  21. Yes but it was well known he wasn’t the pick of the litter. When it comes to NBA free agency the Bulls almost always get to choice C or worse. Pau Gasol was a pretty good one. But he played cheap, and was past his prime. Boozer was one of the most empty 20/10 performers in league history. No D at all. But he did have that spray on hair line. I also think his teammates liked him. But he wasn’t a guy that would win you games.
  22. Boozer was a sign and trade, and he pretty much sucked.
