  1. I like him better than Joc to tell you the truth. If you read our Chuck's article on him, Howie Kendrick paints a different picture of Adam Eaton the teammate than is usually posted here. But until 2020 he was at least a .360 OBP guy who can give you a little pop, and can hold his own in RF, although not elite like he was. If you aren't willing to shop at Nieman Marcus, this is a good TJ Maxx deal. But unless there is some elite bullpen arm or something else I am missing coming, not netting one of Springer or Bauer, is a failure IMO.
  2. Verlander being out, Greinke a year older, it looks like they will need more than garbage cans to be elite in 2021.
  3. The Twins were better. Maybe they aren't now maybe they still are. Lynn is a good pitcher. Hopefully he doesn't regress or get hurt. The Sox are still one Giolito injury from being in a tough spot. Playing a regular length season is going to make starting pitching way more important.
  4. Until Cease, Kopech, Lopez, at least one can show they can get hitters out on a regular basis and answer the bell 30 times, there is no way they are top 2 in the AL with 3 reliable starters. If one or two of them do, you may be correct.
  5. Yeah, that's some messed up shit. As for O'Nora, unless they were advertising 13 year olds, this is just going to a hooker. Not my cup of tea, and I get the human trafficking aspect, but really not as serious as say a DUI, IMO.
  6. Then the White Sox are never going to have this sustained success everyone dreams about.
  7. They signed him right away. That worked out well. He didn't even have a year left. So they are hitting .250.
  8. How has trading for big inning guys with one year on their contract worked out for the Sox? Wells? Not so go, but they gave up basically nothing, Colon? Not so good, but they gave up basically nothing? Jeff S? Pretty bad. Lynn? TBD.
  9. SSk25 said it's about $30 million, but certainly that should be built in as part of the rebuild, correct? If you are going for it, you don't have the same or arb increased salary as you did when you first began. If the White Sox 2020 payroll is their ceiling, the sustained winning everyone wants isn't happening. These one year shots are probably the way to go. We were told otherwise.
  10. Bauer is the big splash and he only costs you money. Why can't the Sox ever sign the top guy? It's like they never even tried.
  11. Steamer predicts Lynn a 3.2 WAR pitcher with a 4.27 ERA. And Dunning a 2.4 WAR with a 4.54 ERA. Lynn's a good pitcher. I get that. But this is the White Sox settling. Bring in a name that isn't making a ton in leu of making the big splash.
  12. Yes, but they shouldn't have been at their ceiling in 2020. You would think the 2020 payroll had room for at least a couple of years of arb increases and an addition or two
  13. The team is in a position to make the other teams in the division know they are playing for second place for the forseeable future. It would be nice if this owner and front office showed some killer instinct, and paid back some of the people that helped their $20 million investment become a $2 billion business.
  14. Here is what is off the books from their not quite ready team: EE $12 million Colome $10.5 million Herrara $9 million Cishek $6 million Mazara $5.5 million McCann $5.4 million Gonzalez $5 million Rodon $4.5 million Looks like there should be room to add a lot of cash and not too many open roster spots, Yet JR is gonna JR.
  15. The issue is this trade was in lieu of spending money, the money we were all promised would be spent when the time came. Now, if they want to follow this up and announce they have signed Bauer, I apologize. But we know that isn't happening.
  16. This is for 2021. Every time the Sox trade for a guy in the last year of his contract it's "oh, he's going to sign an extension". David Wells didn't sign an extension. Bartolo Colon didn't sign an extension. Jeff Samarzidja didn't sign an extension. I would imagine Lance Lynn won't sign an extension. Even Paul Konerko didn't sign an extension. So it's 2021 or bust with Lynn, because if he pitches well enough you want to keep him around for 2022 and beyond, you know JR has other plans.
  17. He was starting to slip a little bit when the Sox traded him. The thought was his mind was messed up because he knew he was going somewhere, the team was bad... He is better than Gio Gonzalez. A lot better, but if the Sox signed him, I wouldn't give him too much.
  18. I just hope Lynn is better for the Sox than the last older fat pitcher who threw a lot of innings, they traded for, David Wells. The issue I have with this trade is Lynn is a one year guy. if he is good, and the Sox win, it's a good deal but,he will cost too much for JR. If he is good and the Sox don't win, it isn't a good deal. If he is bad, it's a bad deal. If he gets hurt, it's a bad deal. But sometimes you have to roll the dice.
  19. When I posed that question several years ago, the popular answer was not what you think. Of course those answering were frustrated Sox fans who had the one title. I don't know how many years Lynn has left. He has been solid. He too had TJS and missed 2016. At least the coaching staff in 2020 held Dunning in higher regard than Cease and Lopez, of course not much because as soon as he gave up a hit they had someone warming up. I think Dunning is going to be solid. Lynn has bee real good. He wasn't so good after the trade deadline last year. We will still. He's LaRussa's new Lamar Hoyt.
  20. Would be interesting if this guy wasn’t a phony.
  21. Of course. The Sox shouldn’t spend money on a DH.
