Super Joe works with Anderson. I thought Omar might be a good choice to add to the staff, but since he has already been on an MLB staff, maybe he prefers to manage in the minors. Maybe he thinks that's his best path to a MLB managing gig. If Coop goes, Hassler will take over. The White Sox obviously think coaching is not a problem, so therefore, since there has been a problem, it's on the 3 Musketeers. I think this is a decent start. They aren't looking for every excuse to keep someone anymore, which seemed to be the norm before, because you can make a case with Moncada, and Anderson, since he really worked with them, and maybe even McCann, although his transformation started before he suited up, Steverson probably had his best season. Makes you wonder what they were looking at earlier.

Did you see the Hawk special last season? Jason dropped a couple of f-bombs. Really family friendly. It's like Abreu with his chew. What a terrible example. Hit the road, JBen. He isn't ever going to leave until he has to. He can still do the Home run derby etc. There is no college football or basketball in the summer. He's living the dream. Good for him.

You are correct, but there wasn’t a sign they were going to make it better. Moncada and TA hit. How sustainable their over .400 BABIPs are is a question, but everyone else was very unselect I’ve, low OBP. A few hit homers, and most struck out, but moving forward, it certainly has look for a couple of years like these 2 weren’t going to move the needle. And hitting coaches getting changed is the new rage. Steverson was the second longest tenured hitting coach in the majors.

It probably doesn't help when Abreu goes into a prolonged slump, and finally talks to his old Cuban coach, and starts raking. The trend seems to be younger, more analytical. I hope that is the way to go. Home Runs and lower k rates win . Everything but hitting a homer is harder to do offensively in MLB anymore with how pitchers are used. You need to get someone on base and hit one in the seats.

Their prospects are thought to be better. What I was getting at was the 2019 Padres were basically the 2019 White Sox if the White Sox signed Machado. The Sox would have won a few more games in all likelihood, but you wouldn't have heard embarrassed out of them.
-
Should have been done sooner. At least they are moving on . I hope Merkin is wrong and they go outside the org. What is interesting is how they made Steverson a guru and wanted to incorporate his philosophy at all levels. From that to the door isn't the Reinsdorf way. But historically, hitting coach is the one position the White Sox will launch .

We will see what happens. Their "core" is just as good, and the Sox will have to spend some money to fill out the roster. We already know the track record of the people who will be making the decisions. One year, they hit on everything, and did pretty well. A couple years after that, they did fairly well, but it was over a decade ago....since? Not so good. They might have $15 million committed, but to think they will spend the rest wisely or if it is even possible for anyone to do that, is probably a big stretch. If the Sox had signed Machado, and Abreu re-signs, which is a given, the difference becomes insignificant.

Rangers might trade lefthanded hitter/outfielder
Dick Allen replied to Whisox05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
2020 the Sox need a RF, DH, and Starting pitching. 2019 the Sox need a RF, DH and starting pitching. Jon Jay, Yonder Alonso, Manny Banuelos, Ervin Santana, and Ivan Nova were the answers. Good God if the Sox are still working the clearance bin. -
The funny thing is, they pretty much are the National League version of the White Sox. A lot of prospects, they sign Machado....both around .500 at the All Star break, both win around 70 games. SD says if it happens again, heads will roll. The White Sox think things couldn't be better aligned.

Saying he isn't acting like himself makes me wonder if he is bipolar. I know, I shouldn't speculate, but with the limited info now out, that appears as good of a guess as any.
-
I think that is taking a big leap. He was on the sideline during the game. It is strange though.
-
I also think if they had signed him or Harper, fan interest would have rapidly picked up. They would have sold more tickets, and more parking spaces, and more beer, and more churros. It might have been short lived, but it would have happened.
-
I would have taken either one. Basically, you wind up the same in the end because if Machado was here, there's a good chance Moncada stayed at 2B this season and moved to RF next. Remember when some thought the Sox would sign both?
-
When the Sox are poised to actually win, and he doesn't play well, I will say they dodged a bullet. Having him put up a 3 WAR this year instead of a 6 or 7 would have made half this board say it was a good tank season for him, considering how everyone loves losses. We will see what happens moving forward. He was awful at home this year. Maybe he would have been awful at GRF as well. We will never know. It will be interesting to see how and if the new lighting next season affects the offense for the Sox.
-
And he was still a 3 WAR.

According to pro football doc, Trubisky will need surgery but will return this season because it’s his left shoulder.
-
Castellanos , I don’t understand the admiration. He is horrible in the field and another, except for this contract year, average OBP guy who won’t hit anywhere close to40 homers. He will be a big overpay IMO.I am praying the Cubs bring him back He is basically a poor man’s Jose Abreu. I would rather roll with the real version.

They are going to have to be 25 games better next year to contend, 2 starters, 2 relievers, an all starish RF and DH, Robert and Madrigal learning fast, Eloy improving, TA fielding better, Cease and Lopez stepping up, Kopech showing no effects, Rodon coming back strong, and everyone else at least maintaining and staying healthy, and maybe they have a shot.
-
That and they have the fewest walks in the league, top 4 in most strikeouts, and are 50 below league average in home runs hit, even with the breakout seasons. It was ridiculous to bring him back this year.
-
Robert and Madrigal should improve the horrific defense, but the problem is they will be replacing Yolmer and about half the time Engel, the Sox best 2 defenders, so the impact will not be big. Defense needs to improve. On base needs to improve. Power needs to improve. Strikeouts need to decline. Staring pitching needs to improve. Bullpen needs to improve. Despite several much improved performances, this team is still a shitshow. Who knows who gets hurt next year. The Sox are going to need Robert and Madrigal to be pretty competent from the get go, some improvement from others across the board, and uncle Jerry to spend a lot of money this winter, and have those hit for half of this board to not be rooting for White Sox losses next season. If it is like this year, 95 wins gets you tee times the day after the regular season ends due to the game becoming extreme. You are either very good or very bad.

It doesn’t really matter anyway. No one will wear 79 outside of spring training whether it is retired or not. But as of now, it wouldn’t happen or 23 would be unavailable.

Collins swing is similar to Josh Hamilton’s.
