Sox acquire Nomar Mazara for Steele Walker
The Yankees also took back a bunch of money.

Hawk Harrelson wins the Ford C. Frick Award
Mercy! I wonder if Hawk sounded like he did after Buehrles perfect game when he got the news.

Angels sign Rendon - 7yrs 245
The Sox were willing to go 8 years with Machado. Rendon wants 7 a year later. That fits in perfectly. Give him the Machado money (the money will be spent) all 8 years of it. Front load the shit out of it in case he wants to retire with 2 years left but can't walk away from $70 million. Make it so he would be walking away from half of that, and prove Sox fans wrong. Odds, about 250-1.

Sox acquire Nomar Mazara for Steele Walker
Better than none. Calhoun would be a one year guy. One shot. Let's not make Steele Walker, although the name is great, a future HOFer. And what ever happened to the narrative if the guy was good, the fact that he played for the White Sox increased his chances of not walking? Remember when the Sox were thinking of trading for Machado, and how many bought into that?

Sox acquire Nomar Mazara for Steele Walker
Last year was the only year in his young career he didn't hit 20 homers. He hit 19. His floor is right at 20 homers, hit .260, OBP .320. As "awful" as it is, it's a big upgrade. And he has potential to do a lot more. Maybe the Sox won't unlock it, maybe they will. I get he is not a big ticket item, and that will understandably upset a lot of people, but Rangers fans hate this trade too.

Sox acquire Nomar Mazara for Steele Walker
And when he was Mazara's age, people here would have been up in arms they traded a guy a year younger in high A for him. Mazara may ultimately suck, but the Sox improved their talent level with this trade.

Cole to the Yankees: 9 years, $324 million.
8 of the top 10 paid pitchers of all time have pitched in the last 4 WS. In the era of bullpens and openers, starting pitching still reigns supreme. Homeruns and pitching get you pretty far these days. cole is going to have to shave.

Nomar Mazara Speculation
You really think Hahn would leak fake interest in a player to try and get a competitor to get a better return? That wouldn’t only be a fireable offense, it would be bannable.

Nomar Mazara Speculation
This guy is one month older than Moncada. If Moncada would have hit what Mazara hit this year would he be considered trash? I don’t want to put him at Moncada’s level, but there is reason to believe there is more there than what he has shown.

Don’t write JR a letter. Apparently he doesn’t read them.anymore.

Nomar Mazara Speculation
In RRs defense he is talking about another teams player. He isn’t going to tell you he sucks.

Nomar Mazara Speculation
You would be banking on a guy isn’t what his as a 24 year old. No one wanted James McCann last year He broke out and was much older. Talent isn’t the problem with this guy. He may suck, but he also a chance he becomes really good, and the only way anyone will care about how much control they have with him would be if he plays well. He is from the DR. I am surprised Frank Castillo isn’t all over this.

Nomar Mazara Speculation
He has had his moments offensively. Obviously Texas is a hitter’s paradise, and 24 year olds who were top 10 prospects usually don’t get moved unless something has really gone haywire. This guy could be what he is or maybe he breaks out. Depends on the price. Walker,Rutherford, someone like that the main piece with Fulmer of Flores If I were the GM, I would say done.

Nomar Mazara Speculation
Mazara is only 14 months older than Walker.

Nomar Mazara Speculation
2016 this guy was a consensus top 20 prospect.BP had him at 5. His manager was on MLBN yesterday and said it was pretty much put up or shut up time for him.will only be 25. As we saw, can hit it a mile. Worth the gamble if it is for what some have speculated. But I can also see why this would be kind of a downer for some.

Successful Plan B; What’s Next?
Eloy would be much better if he learned where to throw the ball. Hit the cutoff man unless it’s a flyball to him with a guy on 3rd he has a legit shot at. And if he would quit holding the ball. Know where it’s supposed to go and get rid of it.

Cole to the Yankees: 9 years, $324 million.
According to a Washington Post guy, he has said he wants to retire by 35 "I think the one most intriguing option for me that seems to make sense is that Justin Turner has said he'll move off third [base] for LA [Dodgers] and the Dodgers are known to offer low-year, high AAV deals which is something that probably seems attractive to Rendon, who has told us many a time he'd like to retire by 35," Daugherty said.

Cole to the Yankees: 9 years, $324 million.
I think the Sox would have to blow the other offers away to get Rendon. Not to say they couldn't. If JR was really about breaking even on the team, he can afford some seasons in the red. He only wants to play 5 more years or so. He's from Texas and there are no state taxes there and the Rangers are opening up a new park, so that would probably attract him. And the Dodgers are pretty much guaranteed to be in the playoffs every year. It would take a huge leap of faith to accept a similar offer to play for the White Sox.

Cole to the Yankees: 9 years, $324 million.
If the White Sox couldn't afford Machado, per KW, they can't afford someone who will cost more.

Cole to the Yankees: 9 years, $324 million.
I wonder if the players association told Boras to get his ass in gear this year. His waiting and waiting seems to hurt the lesser players more than it ultimately hurts or helps his guys.

SoxVan: White Sox big push might be year away
Why do it next year. Wait till 2022 and have a 2 year window. It may be short, but it could be a glorious 2 seasons. It's obvious the Sox aren't waiting, they went after Wheeler. How gullible to these writers think people are?
-
Cole to the Yankees: 9 years, $324 million.
What I am saying is it would have been more. The White Sox $250 million offer would have been dead months before. KW wouldn't have had to wear shades.

Cole to the Yankees: 9 years, $324 million.
Because he was a second thought to the Yankees. If it was a priority, it wouldn't have dragged on to spring training.

Cole to the Yankees: 9 years, $324 million.
And it's the big reason they got Abreu.

Actually, I wouldn't mind Porcello on a one year contract. Certainly more interesting than Shields or Nova or even Jordan Lyles to me.
