Much to Greensox's chagrin, Kahnle is pretty dope when he isn't crazy wild. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 03:19 PM) Surprised its Jennings again. He's the only lefty. That's another reason I couldn't figure out why he was pitching on Saturday night. The Sox had no shot at winning. He's going to find his way into about 80 games anyways if he doesn't get hurt. -
White Sox have "set" Luis Robert market

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 03:14 PM) Check out Doogie Houser over here I was ahead a year, so if I was on the normal track, I would have turned 18. So this guy leaving HS early and still being 19 kind of blew me away. -

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 03:11 PM) Yeah you turn 19 your freshman year lol you can have your bday early September/very beginning of the school year and bam...you're a 19 year old freshman. I turned 17 about a month into my freshman year. -

QUOTE (ptatc @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 03:02 PM) He should go one more inning, no? He's at 99 pitches. Renteria has been taking guys out in the upper 90s before they start an inning. Very doubtful he would finish. -

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 09:31 AM) This isn't true about Beer and it's a common misconception. He left HS early to enroll but he was still a 19 year old freshman. He's a 20 year old Sophomore right now. Yeah, he left HS early but is still the same age (within 4 days) as a sophomore as I was when I was a senior. -
QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 01:53 PM) Thames is killing Reds pitching this season, it's kind of fun to see. 8 homers vs. the Reds and it's still April.

I think Ned Yost is going to take the fall for this KC team at some point. -

QUOTE (Chris Sale @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 01:49 PM) In some of his starts, he seemed to be reverting to old habits (nibbling) and sacrificing some of his strengths (fewer first pitch strikes). He wasn't locating his changeup or slider. It would certainly be sad if this KC lineup hit Quintana, but so far his command has been good and I've liked his aggressiveness. Up to six strikeouts. He was just a little off. I think the WBC had something to do with it. 7k in 3 innings and only 35 pitches. He's looking like a HOFer today. -

QUOTE (Chris Sale @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 01:37 PM) 4 K's for Q through two innings. Pretty weak contact. Hopefully he's figured something out. He did. Pitching against a team that can't hit helps your stats. -
Jim Bowden is gone. I guess the deal was if you took half of what was left on your contract, you would be free to go anywhere right away. If you wouldn't do that, they were just going to bury you until your contract was up. Ravech and Hannah obviously chose the later. So while this is sad in a way, these people aren't exactly like at will employees who just walk in to work one day and find out they no longer are employed, and get a crappy severance if one at all. Most of these people should be fine financially for at least a while.

Get the sweep. I always knew KC's window would be brief, but I had no idea they would get this bad this fast. Give them credit they won one, but they had 2 crazy comebacks in the playoffs, first in the WC game in 2014, and then vs. Houston in 2015, without, their entire 30 year rebuild would have been for naught. -
Attitude problems. God how bad must the Sox suck when guys with a .302 OPS are desired. He sucks. Even his defense has slipped. No one is going to give you anything for him.

Reposting: Courtney Hawkins, pitcher
Dick Allen replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Apr 24, 2017 -> 09:32 AM) He could hit 30 HR's (highly unlikely) and still would not survive in AAA let alone the major leagues with his current BA and K%. I don't think there is any hope of him making improving his hit tool at this point. I am not a pro ball player, but I think it would be easier to make the transition now (at a younger age) rather than later. Matt Davidson strikes out half the time, had 2 years in Charlotte he hit about .200, and we have people now complaining he isn't getting enough playing time at the big league level, and have 1 poster actually believe he isn't playing against top of the rotation right handers to keep the win total down. Yeah, Hawkins sucks and is 99.9% a bust, but maybe he finds something somehow. Starting to pitch now vs. maybe having spend a winter preparing for the transition is negligible IMO. You might as well be really sure. Plus, you have to know how he feels about it. -
Congratulations, tremendous- Trump to a Purple Heart recipient.

It said on the board Sunday he lead the league in HR. I would give him this season to hit. If it doesn't get better, and probably won't, then maybe have him become a pitcher if he's up for it. I don't think there is any rush. -
Davidson against Kluber and Carassco is at least 5 Ks Renteria isn't going to say it.
-
Abreu seems a lot more trim these days than before. I wonder if his weight loss has zappped any strength.
-
Aaron Judge is looking pretty good.
-
Historically Robertson is at his worst with 4 or 5 days off. We are at that area now. Hopefully he can buck his trend.

April 23rd Game Thread: White Sox vs. Indians

.205/.265/.330 The White Sox team splits. A .595 team OPS. 32k there last night to try to get a cheap hoodie. But if this keeps up, the Hawk alarm clock, Buehrle day, the Cubs games, and Sale's return are all that is left for White Sox fan interest as far as attending goes. Trades making the team at least initially even worse will also keep many interested. This is going to be a really bad summer for baseball. Last night was the first time in my life when it wasn't pouring or freezing, I had tickets and really didn't want to go to the game. There really was no chance it was going to at least be entertaining. I predicted 8-1 to my wife. Pretty close. Today could be better, at least I want to go. -

Nothing like having the fragile Putnam pitch multiple innings in a game yout cannot win. RR is a nice guy but bullpen management has been an issue with him with th Cubs and appears is still a problem. -

There is about 30k here tonight. Too bad the luck of the rotation isn't providing an entertaining game.
