  1. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 09:12 AM) I read somewhere that the Sox have been scouting Beer since has was 14 years old. How high will he be drafted? I really don't know. I do know that the Sox should and would consider him if he's still on the board at their pick in the 2018 draft. If they are scouting 14 year olds, no wonder they have drafted so poorly. It's a total waste of scouting resources. He was in 7th grade. Why scout guys 5 to 7 years away from being drafted? So much changes. Your scouting report as a 14 year old becomes totally irrelevant.
  2. College OPS is usually a lot higher than MLB. I don't think Beer is top 100 in either slugging pct. or on base. Basically, if he were having the year he is having this year last season, he would never be mentioned on this board, especially considering he is not really going to be much of a plus defender.
  3. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Apr 9, 2017 -> 04:41 PM) Nothing wrong with looking ahead since Soto, Frazier, MiGo, Holland and Melky are free agents after this season. Seeing what kind of offers the Sox can get for Q, Robertson and Jones just makes sense for a rebuilding team. I don't think it would be news that that is the plan. Hahn has made no secret of that.
  4. 5 games in, wholesale changes on a rebuild. You guys will need rubber rooms a couple of years from now.
  5. Avi is about 6 months older than Jacob May and Adam Engel, about a year and a half older than Charlie Tilson. I don't think anyone, even the White Sox , really believe Avi will somehow turn it around, but he shows you from time to time it is there. Whether that means he beats the odds and overcomes his previous performance no one knows. Maybe he is Jose Bautista, a guy who was below replacement level until he was 29 and with his 5th team. Now is the perfect time to find out.
  6. I was at the game and where they play Maurer is incredible. If he hit one into the RF corner, he would have an easy triple. Avi was at least 120 feet off the line maybe 150 feet. May was in LC. Maurer hit one pretty much right at him where had they been playing straight up probably is a double unless the traded for Buxton.
  7. Why would anyone be b****ing about Avi now? Yes, he will probably go back to what he was, but he is showing everyone right now why they keep him around. His talent is immense.
  8. Whatever happened to the quick defeat of ISIS? Maybe Jared hasn't had time to get around to that.
  9. Conversation Donald J. Trump‏ @realDonaldTrump The President must get Congressional approval before attacking Syria-big mistake if he does not! 6:02 PM · Aug 30, 2013 Just about everything he has criticized Obama about, he has been guilty of in less than 100 days. Trump is a joke. What would Trump be tweeting at 3 AM if Hillary dropped some missiles on an airbase and forgot to hit the runways?
  10. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 07:36 PM) Has Holland always thrown 94? I thought he was a 90/91 guy I don't know, but I did hear they were taking readings differently this season and it should result in higher velocity readings.
  11. It is weird he did pretty much what Hillary said had to be done only hours earlier, although it wasn't executed as well as hoped. I would think when firing missles at an air base, doing at least some damage to the runways would be a priority.
  12. QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 06:55 PM) Rock won't put his money where his mouth and probably just continue with the lame jabs but I'd bet he's not someone who was born and raised in Sweden. Let me know Rock. Would you go as far as from a country on Trump's banned list?
  13. QUOTE (KagakuOtoko @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 06:41 PM) Did you not see that Davidson bomb yesterday? He is going nowhere. I once saw Joe Borchard hit one on the concourse. He didn't last very long.
  14. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 06:31 PM) Worked on his swing Maybe Asche worked on his. It really is no big deal. They each will have an opportunity to show they deserve more time. Chances are the team rids itself of both by the end of the season.
  15. QUOTE (TomPickle @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 05:43 PM) Asche has ~1200 more plate appearances than Davidson at the major league level and has proven to be Avi Garcia level bad. There is no reason to give him at bats. And Davidson was amazingly bad in AAA.
  16. I did read a Keith Law chat a while back where he said Collins' bat is better than advertised.
  17. Q won't bring back this guy Q won't bring back that guy. When you say that you are proving the theory if the Sox keep drafting and trading for pitchers they can easily be flipped for similarly ranked hitters as false. Whatever team wants Q needs to haverify some hitters as headliners
  18. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 03:27 PM) If you can land Robert, you do it. Definitely take advantage of the Cuban connection if possible. There should zero confidence in our ability to land Otani. Yes, all things being equal, Otani is a pipe dream. At least with Robert, you have the Cuban history, and can at least sell a team that could be good when he is ready. Otani would be going into a rebuild on a team where even the people in their city are pretty indifferent. If they don't land Robert, obviously give it a try, but the odds are next to zero.
  19. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 01:15 PM) When he is pitching you want him focusing on pitching. If he fancies himself a 2 way player, the NL is far more attractive, but money will talk. It will probably be mostly endorsement potential.
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 01:05 PM) Is there any bulk pricing Maybe Trump will make some great deals and get these prices down. Or maybe Syria will pay for them.
  21. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 12:59 PM) He didn't mean to have him pitch and hit in the same game I believe. Edit: double-checking the post above, it isn't what he meant. Kind of weird he would be good enough to be a DH when he wasn't pitching, but have a DH hit for him if he was. I think he would rather go to the NL myself if he plans on playing both.
  22. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 12:55 PM) Yeah that seems like that would make sense. Don't know. I don't think a team would want to give up their DH to have him pitch and hit in the AL. He makes it 4 or 5 innings, you have a problem. I think he ends up in NY, LA, or Seattle.
  23. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 12:44 PM) Don't see the Sox getting involved in spending what it would take to get Ohtani Robert seems to be their primary target If he is coming next year, the most it could cost is their entire bonus pool.
  24. Maybe Hillary is secretly in Trump's inner circle. Here are some comments she made yesterday afternoon: "Assad had an air force and that air force is the cause of most of the civilian deaths as we’ve seen over the years and as we saw again in the last few days," said Clinton. "I really believe we should have and still should take out his airfields and prevent him from being able to use them to bomb innocent people and drop sarin gas on them." Shocking today to see how many republicans agree with Hillary.
  25. QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 11:18 AM) Now Gorsuch got through. Oh the humanity. Merrick Garland didn't even get a hearing. Many of your friends on the right were saying if Hillary was elected, they would not let a nominee go through, that the court would have been fine a judge short. Did you agree with this? If so, explain why your opinion is the only legitimate opinion.
