QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 11:48 AM) Trump's filed his first election lawsuit already. In no way are they trying to suppress the vote.

2016 Presidential Election Thread
QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 10:35 AM) A few pages back someone said Trump was lying about that Belichick letter. But it looks to me like the reports say it's true. http://thebiglead.com/2016/11/08/bill-beli...ump-per-report/ No one wrote Trump was lying about the Belichick letter. There was question about Brady because his wife did say they weren't backing Trump. But I don't think even Trump would lie about that, so I imagine Brady did vote for him.

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 10:23 AM) At least it prevents the panic of how much you need to color in the arrows. I know I only need a line but I end up doing a 1 hour coloring session every time. I almost walked out with one of the markers. The lady yelled. I thought I was going to be taken down.

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 09:49 AM) Interesting Tweet from Ruffini which makes sense. Takes a long time for voters to go through: https://twitter.com/PatrickRuffini/status/796008708815917062 Probably 90% of my ballot was judge retention.

2016 Presidential Election Thread
Anyone ever watch The Circus on Showtime about the election? The last one was interesting. They had 4 guys that used to be campaign advisors discussing some things for a little bit. One guy used to write speeches for McGovern when he was younger. He was told the day before he had to deliver the news to McGovern that he wasn't going to win. When he did, McGovern told him he already knew that, and knew it for a while, but he had to fake it one more day. Apparently the last couple weeks of the campaign, his rallies were drawing huge crowds. They made it seem like someone is going to have to have the same conversation with Trump, and no one thought he was going to not become unhinged.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 09:14 AM) well, for certain there is so much vote rigging going on right now. Seems like everyone is seeing it and Limbaugh is talking about it. Give it to the Clintons now and forever the end Rush and his kind already had their scripts for today's show written months ago.

Before this campaign, I never liked Trump. I thought he was pompous obviously. I just never realized was a despicable human being he is. I just hope he gets trounced today.

2016 Presidential Election Thread
QUOTE (shysocks @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 09:05 AM) My polling spot opened at 6 AM, I got there at about 6:15, and I was out just after 7. Not too bad. I voted NO on the roads amendment because I read that it was lobbied onto the ballot and promoted by construction companies, and that it would hamstring the Illinois budget even further. Don't think that's what we need right now. Not a discussion for the Presidential Election thread though, so I digress. Mine opened at 6. Got there 5 minutes before it opened and I was about 50th in line. There are 2 wards that vote at my location, and they split it into 2 lines once you get in the church. Probably 45 of the 50 people in front of me lived in the other ward, which is separated by whether you are north or south of a street, so I voted by 6;10, but there was an issue with the machine you put your ballots in. It wasn't registering the votes. So I had to wait another 15 minutes for them to fix it. Still not too bad.

2016 Presidential Election Thread
QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 08:46 AM) I had looked at my sample ballot maybe 3-4 times, but today I voted and out of nowhere there was a ballot measure from Oak Park proposing updating the language of the 2nd amendment (the federal constitution's 2nd amendment) to allow congress to regulate the use of firearms. It was very bizarre. One, I have NO idea what power that even holds, like...what does that do next? But obviously I voted for it since I am soxtalk's only poster in favor of changing the 2nd amendment (and perhaps I hallucinated the question?). It's a non issue. Hillary is getting rid of the second amendment. Trump said so. He doesn't lie. Straight shooter.

Misc. Sox Quotes & Tweets
QUOTE (sammy esposito @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 04:02 PM) As a longstanding white sox fan I have seen this many times. I was once told at Target after experiencing the same thing "no white sox hats" and I quote we reserve the right to carry any team merchandise we feel like." Go on line. Fanatics usually has free shipping and tons of stuff.

QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 03:48 PM) Sanchez seems untouchable to me now I don't think he is available, but he also is going to regress to the mean. You couldn't be buying any higher on him than right now.

White Sox could be sick of Sale's antics
QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 04:53 PM) That's not as sexy of a scoop for Crasnick, unfortunately. My point being they are sick of his antics, but for some reason it is unreal the White Sox may be as well. The antic are out there for everyone to see. There haven't been anymore. His trade value is still the same as it was 2 minutes before Crasnick made his entry.

2016-17 free agency thread (NON WHITE SOX RELATED)
According to the Tribune, the Cubs dynasty won't be subject to the pitfalls other potential dynasties have fallen victim. Also, like Trump with Obamacare, the Cubs will replace Fowler, with something better. Something terrific.

White Sox Claim LHP Giovanni Soto off Waivers
Coop will fix him. He seems to be sort of like Donnie Veal. If they can figure a way to get him some control, he could be really good. If not, he is minor league fodder.

Price rising for Sale and Q
QUOTE (SCCWS @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 01:58 PM) Rizzo is a +.300 hitter against them is his career albeit 20 ABs. Schwarber has never faced either Schwarber cannot hit lefties. I'd take my changes the trend doesn't continue with Rizzo against those 2. Bryant also struck out his first 6 AB vs. Sale.

Price rising for Sale and Q
I think if there is a team most motivated to overpay for Sale, it should be the Dodgers. Assuming Kershaw is 100% next season, he and Sale pretty much dominate the NL, and think of those 2 in the playoffs. Pretty much takes left handed hitters out of the equation. For the Cubs that is Rizzo and Schwarber. And they can restock their farm system by signing a million international guys.

Price rising for Sale and Q
QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 12:06 PM) The goal is not to trade for Heyward because he's good - it's the opposite. It's essentially taking on salary to allow us to get even more of their great players. Not dissimilar to when you retain salary to get more prospects. You wouldn't consider it for Baez, Schwarber, Soler, and our pick of 3-4 prospects? They wouldn't do that. They still have to field a team, and it's not like they can go out and sign a bunch of stud free agents.

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 11:37 AM) I don't think Comey's actions were partisan, I think they were political to pre-emptively respond to attacks of them trying to "cover up" the investigation if htey were working on it. It's political in trying to preserve FBI integrity. But because his letter was so vague, all of the agents leaked out the motivations and details. It was a mess and entirely predictable and a reason why this doesn't happen. It's hard for people outside that law enforcement world to understand what it means when a letter like that gets introduced. I think it was a favor to Guilliani.

Rick Hahn open for business
QUOTE (captain54 @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 11:51 AM) Before I begin, please don't go all SSDR2K2 on me and attribute my comment to bias, or anger, or fabrication, or whatever any other non sensical excuse may come to your brain.. But, a string of unsuccessful seasons such as the Sox have had, starts at the top... Using the medical analogy, it's like trying to diagnose a person with a blood disorder, or poor circulation, etc.. and not doing any sort of critical examination or testing of the heart... You would have to believe in terms of evaluating talent, scouting talent, drafting.. the proper people have not been hired to work these areas OR, the qualified people are in place and JR is fully involved in these day to day decisions... You and Thad can post JR has to go a million more times, and you may be correct, but, he isn't going to go, so why bother?

Price rising for Sale and Q
QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 10:26 AM) Yes. In July, had we sent Sale for a package surrounding Gary Sanchez I would have been very skeptical. Now - totally plausible. Scary relying on a front office who just traded for James Shields to get good value back, but I stand by statement that they are capable of doing hte right thing but have made the wrong decisions because of bad strategy. Trading Sale for surplus of talent would be beginning of showing they have sound strategy and are capable of doing the right thing. Or - it would be just like the Rams. Made the right trade once, but still incapable of team building anyway. Yes. It's can't be like the Davidson/Reed trade, where people said after the fact they still would have made that trade 10 times out of 10. These guys getting dealt has to be a caulfied-styled 10 out of 10, which means with hindsight. If they get guys who turned to crap, but Sale gets hurt his first game, it's still a bad trade because they will be able to get good players somewhere. There is a lot of pressure on them trading these guys despite a good portion of the fanbase claiming to be all for a rebuild.

Just more proof the Hillary email found on Weiner's computer letter, was a politically motivated act, and was totally unnecessary, all the emails turned out to be duplicates or personal emails. Edward Snowden showed how that could be determined in minutes. .
