QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 04:01 PM) Not gonna lie, I kinda checked out around this time. Did he go down with a hammy or knee injury? I think he meant Tilson's injury. Liriano took one to the face and missed the 2016 season. He is a lottery ticket. Probably will never make the team.
-
He left the top prospects lists about the same time as Mike Olt. Horrific injury.

So let me get this straight, Trump says his being recorded on the bus was certainly illegal and he may sue (what new), yet praises wiki leaks for hacking private emails. As KW said about the Big Hurt, "the man is an idiot."

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 12:31 PM) Ya, a bunch of my buddies went to Sheffield's I guess, started waiting in line at 9 am. No cover though. Some places are only charging $75 to get in, but you don't get a seat.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 12:26 PM) Anyone brave/rich enough to do the Wrigley bar scene today? Supposedly people were lined up at 4 am. Insane. Throw a party. It will be better and cheaper.

It was fun watching Schwarber play the OF last year.

My dad was a little kid in 1945, and his cousin had just returned from the war and was visiting. His cousin took him to the WS at Wrigley. The bought tickets at the box office the day of the game. My dad has the trifecta, attended WS games at Wrigley, Comiskey, and USCF. I wonder how many people can say that right now.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 27, 2016 -> 08:07 PM) I keep seeing this, but ratings for all pro sports are way down in the last decade. Yes, but this is just local and it is the Cubs. You know all those Cubs fans who never even think about the White Sox.
-
Interesting. The white Sox out rated the Cubs in WS game 2 http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...1027-story.html

James Shields officially not opting out

QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ Oct 27, 2016 -> 01:08 PM) It certainly would be if you completely ignore how the rest of their team is built. Every team that's willing to spend at that level is going to make a few mistakes. How much did they blow on Edwin Jackson? It helps when you lose 96 games and 3 million people still show up. -
QUOTE (Carpe Diem @ Oct 26, 2016 -> 07:14 PM) Whoever is the next owner of the White Sox will likely have a wealth of at least $5 billion. If they truly wanted they could buy Lakefront property and foot the $750 mil stadium. I know a lot of arrogant and snobbish economists will say that is stupid, but you know what their reward will be? A highly highly respected legacy throughout Chicago-land that will last forever. We need an owner who is a fan first, businessman second. No,they couldn't. You cannot buy lakefront property in Chicago. And you can't have a stadium that faces slightly west.

Game 2 in 2005 was cold and wet, but it felt like 70 degrees in the stands. Greatest game I ever attended.
-
I read where the Cubby Bear is charging a $100 cover charge. Barley own and Dueces are charging $250 which includes drinks during the game and entre and an app. Are people really falling for this?
-
Teams that lost the first game of the WS have lost 12 of the last 13, and 17 of the last 19. In 7 game playoff series, the Cubs are 0-9 when they lose the first game. Hopefully things will continue.

QUOTE (Coach @ Oct 26, 2016 -> 07:39 AM) And who cares about many years ago. I am talking about the last 25 years. Wrigleyville was a dump many years ago but that does not count anymore. My point is that no matter how the Sox do compared to the Cubs, they Cubs will always fill their seats because of the stuff outside and around the stadium. Sox can't compete with that. I was up by Wrigley Field yesterday. About half the bars are gone. It is a construction zone. It will probably be really nice when it is completed.
-
I think for what can be compared, the coverage seemed about equal. I went to every home playoff game so I didn't see any coverage then. But they covered the road games and clinchers well IMO. And read those articles about how the Sox were slighted by CBS, ESPN, and the joker with the Washington Post who said Red Sox fans were the only ones who could relate to the long championship drought the Cubs and Indians are going through. Read the Cubs fans comments at the end, and for all those who ever questioned why White Sox fans want the Cubs to lose despite having friends and family who are fans of the team, you will have your answer.

QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Oct 25, 2016 -> 04:28 PM) What did she say? haha She is several years older than me. She told me I was being childish and I should be happy for Chicago. I told her as a White Sox fan, Cleveland winning isn't exactly ideal either, but she was definitely miffed.
-
I get people hoping the Cubs win because their friends or family members are Cubs fans. IMO, however, I don't care. When they play the White Sox I am not happy for they when they win. My Cubs fan friends and family have made it through life just fine without a WS title, I am sure they will be fine if they don't win this year. Who knows, maybe winning would be bad for them. A neighbor really let me have it after she said go Cubs to me and I responded enthusiastically with an ehh... I know of no Cubs fans who were happy in October of 2005.

The other problem with a lakefront stadium opening to the skyline is that it would have to face at least slightly west. Sun in hitter's eyes is never a good thing and will never happen.
-
I have always found it interesting that supposedly millions upon millions of dead people vote, and none of them vote for republicans.
-
QUOTE (Carpe Diem @ Oct 25, 2016 -> 01:20 AM) The problems have been so friggin obvious that I'm starting to feel the only way they will be solved is by new ownership. They include: -The stadium is located in a terrible part of town and lacks originality. Build a stadium (from their own pockets) on the Lake with the Skyline featured as well and I will bet anything attendance BOOMS. -Kenny Williams is still here. He is he equivalent to an NFL coach who runs the Tampa 2 with no adjustments. He struck gold ONE TIME with his backwards ways and has been average at BEST since. He needs to go ASAP. -EMBRACE YOUTH. I know the Chicago sports media/radio is full of insufferable Cubs shills, but the reality of the matter is they didn't event the philosphy of blowing it all up and starting from scratch. It's common f***in sense. Fix these issues and the White Sox will be a formidable franchise. Lakefront is public property, and will never be on the table. Plus public transportation and parking make it a no go. As to embracing youth and mentioning the Cubs, the White Sox have a younger roster. The Cubs have one of the oldest rotations in baseball.
-
I think what happened was they already had the segment written and the graphics made when someone realized they f***ed up, so they just used the they weren't rooting for the White Sox line. As for the CBS thing, that is just idiotic. These are supposed news organizations. Whether they consider the White Wox irrelevant or not, missing they won the WS 11 years ago is a huge pox on them.

Jason Kipnis grew up a Cubs fan in Northbrook. He lived a couple of houses away from Steve Bartman,

2016 World Series -- NOT predictions;REAL feelings
Dick Allen replied to CyAcosta41's topic in The Diamond Club
In the grand scheme of things, the "suffering" that occurs because the sports team you follow doesn't win a championship really isn't a big deal. And in the grand scheme of things, a Cubs WS title to a Cubs hater like me isn't that big of a deal. That said, here's to another 108 years.
