  1. First pitcher in 100 years to give up 3 homers in an inning and get a win. He also tied a major league record with 2 wins yesterday. The first homer didn't bother me. 3 run lead, you are supposed to "let them hit it". But those last 2 weren't good, and the sickening thing was he made Upton look silly and these 2 look silly up until they homered.
  2. So what is more embarrassing, having a guy who cuts up jerseys or a guy that fires 8 shots when he gets into an argument with his wife on the roster?
  3. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 11:42 AM) 5 Day Suspension That will teach him.
  4. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 09:42 AM) Are you implying that not wearing the '76 uniform gives the Sox a better chance to win? If Sale was that uncomfortable in it, the answer is yes. Whether he truly was or not, only he knows.
  5. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 09:24 AM) Yes, so the proper response is to use a knife to destroy the property of others.. It was no doubt a stupid, immature, ridiculous thing to do. But years from now, everyone will be laughing about it.
  6. Would those who think sending him home was appropriate still think it was appropriate if he did the same thing whenthe Sox and Tigers were battling it out for a division title?
  7. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 08:53 AM) Not scientific, but probably the majority of people on Sale's side are under 30, probably much younger. I do not condon what Sale did. Totally unacceptable. I do have a problem with the punishment. This isn' Little League where a lesson is more important than winning. The White Sox chose to punish the White Sox instead of just Chris Sale. And not that it matters, but Sale is correct about trying to sell merchandise. Why would the 1976 White Sox get a night? The only thing uglier than those uniforms was that team's performance.
  8. From the Paasan article: “Right now, in the major leagues, we’ve got dopers, domestic abusers, homophobes, misogynists and even a guy who spent time in prison for a DUI hit-and-run,” one executive said. “But a uniform vandal? Dammit, we have to draw the line somewhere.” I what he did was beyond stupid, but the he must go crowd doesn't put things in perspective. Probably just love the prospects of prospects, yet when they say he has to go, if they traded him and the prospects did not pan out would not remember according to them the Sox front office had no choice. Sale cutting up uniforms...dumb Sox not letting Sale pitch because of it...dumber Sox trading Sale for whatever they can get because he cut up uniforms....dumbest
  9. In other news , Sale won't be traded.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 01:34 AM) I can't see how someone could advocate Sale pitching on Sat night after his unprecedented temper tantrum. Got to put your foot down sometime. Put your foot down fine him, whatever. But tell him to go home you aren"t pitching tonight? That punishes his teammates, the fans, etc. It hurts the Sox that game and games to come as the bullpen has to pitch at least 9 innings. This isn't Little Leauge, he is a grown man even thiogh sometimes he doesn't act like it. But this is professional sports.
  11. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 08:29 PM) People defending Sale are doing it because they just hate this team and organization now so they want to back him no matter what. Chris really needs to learn to keep his emotions in check. What he did to the jerseys was stupid. Having him not pitch because of it is more stupid.
  12. QUOTE (lord chas @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 07:46 PM) No reporting by Scott Merkin. Just another Jerry lackey/shill Beat guys get home weekends off.
  13. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 06:10 PM) Anyone who fails to see that Sale is a big baby has blinders over their eyes. I still like him, but the guy throws temper tantrums and it's a character flaw that might just be getting him booted out of here now. Still kind of curious the White Sox reaction is to concede a division game. A verbal altercation doesn't have to result in sending your best home. He isn't 8.
  14. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 01:08 PM) Wow, you honestly think the Red Sox wouldn't trade Moncada straight up for Sale? I don't. If they did they wouldn't give you much else. Add $63 million to Sales salary the next few years for what would be Bostons true cost, and suddenly he isn't as huge of a bargain. Moncadas payoff is if he is a star right away.
  15. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 12:27 PM) I'd say 80% of that probably. Sale's name, arsenal, and W-L puts him above Q. And this is why it sucks that we don't get to see that duo in the playoffs. The problem with Sale and probably Q is although every team would love either of them, there really isn't much of a market for them at what most of us consider a minimal market price. It is a huge hit to take for one guy. Teams will try , but chances are IMO, no deal. Maybe down the road if the team is still in the doldrums and their contracts are closer to ending. To me, the price has to Br almost ridiculously high as the white Sox are taking most of the risk if they trade either for prospects.
  16. I don't think Boston would give up Moncada for either. They spent $63 million signing him with bonus plus penalty. I find it hard to believe he would be available starlight up let alone in a package.
  17. QUOTE (PolishPrince34 @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 09:19 AM) I feel their only 3 contender teams that can pull off a trade for Sale that carry the offense talent we need to bring to the organization: Red Sox, Rangers, and Cubs. Houston can also be included, but I'm only sold on Bergman with Houston organization. I can't see the Sox making a major trade with the Cubs this this year or even in the future. Dodgers have the depth to get involved, but don't have the upper echlon hitters that we need to upgrade our offense. It really leaves us with the Red Sox and Rangers. Starting point: Red Sox: Moncado, Bientienadi, Devers, Kopech, PTBL: Groome for Sale and Robertson Rangers: Profar, Gallo, Brinson, Ortiz, Tavarez, De Leon for Sale If Cubs get involved: Schwarber, Baez, Jimenez, Torres, Happ for Sale. You have to really hurt the Cubs if your trading a Chris Sale to them. Good luck. The problem is Sale's value to the White Sox far exceeds what other teams woul be willing to give up. They will just go down a tier or 2 and save prospects. Levine with hi Soler/Baez for Sale is probably more in line with what the real offers are vs what we all hope. The Sox now are screwed again. If they trade these guys for realistic packages they will get hammered by everyone. If they don't cave in they will be accused of business as usual, with no clue. Just go back a year. They hang on to Shark after a hot streak. Yet according to some with no sources, they could have traded the pending free agent who led the league in HR allowed, hits allowed, and earned runs allowed that would have blown away the value of the comp pick they ultimately received. Sale is like a $50 million house. Yeah you might be worth billions and can afford it, but isn't the $25 million house enough house for you? Especially if you need several houses.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 08:14 PM) One guy did well in AAA, the other guy was awful. Like you said, maybe just put Turner in the bullpen and hope he can throw 98-99. Secondary stuff is horrible for a starter. He also did well in AAA when he came up for Texas? He sucks. You want the team to rebuild. Get used to horrible performances and accept them.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 08:03 PM) Give Ranaudo a shot instead of Turner please. Just remember, this guy was called up to start when the Sox were still trying to contend. And when Ranaudo s*** the bed you would wonder how they can bring up a guy wth an ERA over 17 . Most teams aren't 7 or 8 starters deep.
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 03:20 PM) I still think sale's value makes him untradeable. Quintana's should, but...the world is not fair. I agree with this. It's pretty easy to expect less of a return on Quintana. It's hard to imagine a team offering what it would take to get them Sale, plus the team and fanbase are so invested in him. They should be just as invested in Quintana, or at least pretty close, but aren't. It would be interesting hearing the offers. I'd imagine there is a lot bigger difference in the offers than there is in performance.
  21. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 03:18 PM) I'm not going to lie, it'll be a bittersweet moment when Sale is traded. He's been there since the beginning for me. He may be traded some day, but not in the next 10 days.
  22. Hahn has always said they would listen to offers for any of their players.
  23. QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 01:50 PM) I have never understood why people say Stubhub is expensive. There are lower deck tickets for $11 right now on Stubhub, I went to opening day for $6. You know what's expensive? Buying tickets from a scalper and they end up being fake with no way of getting your money back. It's the percentage. I bought 2 tickets in the OF on July 4th for $10 each. With fees it was almost $29. That's over a 40% charge. I'm sure it isn't as quite as steep the higher you go but it still is rather high IMO.
  24. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 01:06 PM) This is my point when I say no guarantees. It could very well be the correct move, but we need to learn to not count our chickens before they hatch in trades. Exactly. Especially with prospects. There are a lot of former top 10 in the game guys who couldn't hack it. That's why if I was trading Sale, there is no way I don't get a starting major leaguer back as part of the package. And not many playoff teams would do that midseason. The Sox have to get more for these guys that teams got for their aces. They are signed cheaply for multiple years, not just one or two.
  25. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 12:55 PM) Kansas City being bad for 20 years has nothing to do with anything. No, selling star players for young players isn't a cure-all. But with the current and future set-up of the sox it makes more sense than doing nothing. Yes, things performed badly don't work out. Thanks. Things at the time that seem like great ideas don't work either. Matt Davidson, some couldn't believe the Sox fortune being able to get him. According to one very negative poster at the time of the trade, Davidson was the best 3B prospect available. The conversation was when does the Super 2 kick in. I posted BPs top 20 prospect list from 6 years ago on here a couple of months ago. If you had all of them, you would need a lot more help to be a playoff contender, just once in a while. Trading Sale with several years left on his contract better get you back actual future stars, not just guys that look like they may be them, or your rebuild makes no sense. And that is hard to do.
