  1. IMO with Arrietta it is all about his command. When he has it, is is almost unhittable, when he doesn't, he is human,
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 09:17 PM) He hasn't seemed like his head has been in the game for the last two days. I wonder if he is pouting about Sale. He fouled a ball of his foot a couple of days ago. If you watch him jog, it is still bothering him. I think he has that on his mind.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 09:16 PM) One of these posts is not like the other... Because I was being sarcastic
  4. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 09:08 PM) Funny thing is Kershaw has a clause in his contract where he immediately becomes a free agent if traded, ruining a lot of his value for other teams. Veterans on multi year contracts used to have the right to demand a trade after a season if they got traded.
  5. I'm with the Sox. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0725-story.html
  6. Errors always kill,the Sox.
  7. QUOTE (Insp @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 07:59 PM) Why are our hitters so undisciplined? Grab a bat. If you have 2 strikes on you vs, Arrietta and he has his stuff and control, you are screwed.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 07:26 PM) Teams have been successful against arrieta making him throw a lot of pitches. Of course Sox are being aggressive Hitting him early isn't bad if he has his good stuff.
  9. They just showed the punch AJ play. Rich Hill was pitching for the Cubs.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 06:28 PM) So the Sox are wearing the 1983 Jerseys again today. Are they wearing them as a support of Chris Sale, a middle finger to management, or because the swept yesterday, even though they lost in them Saturday. They didn't lose Saturday. They won 2 in a row with them. BTW, anyone who still has their ticket stubs from Saturday get a free best available upper deck ticket for Aug 5-7 vs Baltimore, exchange at White Sox box office only.
  11. Sox will have 4 30k attendance home games in a row after this brief home series.
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 02:40 PM) I don't like Hahn for personal reasons that go all the way back to how he treated people at Harvard Law...but mostly because he has done a pretty lousy job. I don't think Ventura is the best manager for the future of this organization. I have never underrated Sale or Q. The Q package would include Robertson and return Moncada, Benitendi, Kopech, Eduardo Rodriguez and Rusney Castillo with huge cash susidy for remaining dollars on that deal. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 6, 2015 -> 09:05 AM) * Why? Are you not happy with Hahn's tenure? Haber is much more similar to Hahn than KW. You need your contract negotiators, and your talent evaluators in equal measure, and, on rare occasions, you have front office guys proficient at both. To be disappointed in much beyond the smaller moves fizzling (like Keppinger) is pretty much an impossible argument to make given where this organization was 18 months ago. 13. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 04:25 PM) Hahn doesn't move fast. I fear he's going to blow it. I hope I'm wrong. Clearly all the guys everyone wants were clearly available and they obviously will pull them back now.
  14. QUOTE (bruni @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 03:22 PM) Yankees take the entire haul received from Cubs for Chapman, add #2 overall catching prospect Gary Sanchez AND Pineda (Coop will fix him!) for Sale. Sox immediately solve long term catching issue with Sanchez and most recent #1 Collins, get stronger up the middle in time with McKinney and Rashard Crawford, acquire stud middle infielder Torres (who I would convert into a 2B) and have both Warren and Pineda to bolster starting pitching staff. No way.
  15. Before the game, they run a couple commercials on the big board at USCF. One is for the Big Hurt Brewery in Berwyn. Why does he have it in Berwyn? He should have it in Bridgeport. It doesn't matter if Big Hurt Brew sucks, the place would be a gold mine.
  16. The USCF return of the Hawkeroo. I think Paulie is throwing out the first pitch. Beat these losers.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 12:52 PM) Actually it isn't part of their job. They have zero contractual obligation to do so. It is tradition, sure, but not a part of their job. It is the non contractual obligation part of their job. I'm sure the clubbies got paid, and I am also sure the Mariners will make sure the Sox know they didn't do what they wanted them to do the next time they are in town.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 12:34 PM) Let's just put Eaton in charge of the entire union if he's such a fighter for injustice...that way the White Sox can make up for JR's waning influence. Eaton has been playing pretty well. Sale has been pitching pretty well when they let him. It doesn't appear their 5 minute meeting in Seattle screwed them up much, but then again, those are facts. You don't want anything to do with facts.
  19. So if the Cubs package for Chapman was more than the Yankees paid, couldn't it be a sign that Theo screwed up and should have acquired him sooner?
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 08:39 AM) Nobody has ever complained it was unfair to pay Keppinger, Bonifacio, Rollins or Morneau, etc., those salaries. On the other hand, Alexei was underpaid quite clearly...until they corrected it. At any rate, it continues the emerging storyline the Sox are not focused due to peripheral/off the field issues, when getting back into the Wild Card race would have been the sole driver for a winning organization. All we seem to get these days are distractions, and not entirely positive ones. So all they should do is concentrate on their job and not anything else. Actually, paying clubbies, IS PART OF THEIR JOB. How idiotic they want to make sure the money is going where they intend it to be going. What complete morons and idiots. How come you don't live by this credo?
  21. The White Sox players certainly took care of the clubbies. It isn't like they stiffed the little guy.
  22. Doesn't this remove his QO and give him even greater incentive to enter the open market? Teams do try to discount a bit when one has this, and it may open a few more teams into his bidding.
  23. What it does is confirm Sale's knife work has no effect on his market value.
  24. The amazing thing is, we don't think it's a big deal if they sign Rollins or Latos or players of that ilk and it doesn't work out. $2 million, no big deal. Yet they have employees, lots of them actually, that make nothing, and still get nickeled and dimed to death.
