  1. If you have pinpoint control, you get away with throwing 82. If he is off just a little bit, he'll get destroyed. Right now, he isn't off a little bit. Hopetully next inning he will.
  2. Now you know how other fanbases felt when Buerhle shut them down.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 02:16 PM) OPS of .406 vs RHP coming into this game. Absolutely insane that he's batting 2nd. Who should bat second?
  4. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 03:02 PM) He did hit 30 homers that year. And going into September I am pretty sure he was hitting over .300 with 28 homers and about 90 RBI.
  5. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 02:56 PM) He's way stronger than Crede. 2006 Crede was pretty much prime Joe Crede. Prime Todd Frazier is gonna hit 35 bombs. That's like hitting 40-45 back in 2006. Crede's the better defender though. 2006 Crede was pretty good. His back screwed up his last month but he would have been GG like, 30 homers .300 avg. 100 RBI.
  6. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 02:54 PM) Nice. I am also not watching the game so I wouldn't put much stock in my insights. It is drizzling downtown.
  7. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 02:47 PM) I think Saladino's AB would have been a lot different if Eaton did his job and got the runner over. Yes, but the kiss of death is praising a player apparently. Although Avi and Danks have been able to beat the curse. Sale sucks. Let's see how that works.
  8. I guess I now know why gamethreads focus on the negative. Avila is toast, since that conversation a double and threw out a guy. After the Saladino lovefest, 2 ks.
  9. QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 01:31 PM) Frazier has been bringing back fond memories of Crede and Ventura at 3B. The last 3 or 4 games he has made some spectacular plays.
  10. Anyone out there good at pressing buttons on a keyboard may want to send your resume to Brooks Boyer. Whoever they have putting the count on the scoreboard is beyond woeful. Not only is it often wrong, it is beyond slow.
  11. What was the gun saying about Latos on TV last night? The park had his fastball at 91 or 92, usually 92 all night.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 11:15 AM) That sounds awful familiar... White Sox don't hit but win, dark clouds. Cubs don't hit but win. They are going to be unstoppable.
  13. QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 12:09 PM) I recall him swinging at a fastball that was neck-high and inside during the TB series. He's still not there mentally, which isn't a good sign. He changed his stance and having problems in reality probably makes things worse. I'm pretty sure Avi thinks less of his chances of getting a hit right now than any of us.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 11:39 AM) [/b] Why would it be for disciplinary reasons? You strike out, you sit. Of course, the White Sox would have some roster problems if they actually had that idea. Avi is messed up. He was 2 for 3 with 2 homers vs. Shoemaker coming in.
  15. I took a lap around the park last night and have never seen so many stands closed. About the only stands open in the OF were the ones underneath the fan deck in CF and the new Beggars spot. Everything else, shut down. And a lot of stands were closed on the main concourse.
  16. On the board last night they had a number where Avi hit .349 his first 23 games with the White Sox. Just another reminder of fun with small sample sizes. Chances are Avi will have a hot streak eventually, but that won't mean he's fixed, nor does a slump by guys like Abreu mean the league has caught up to him. Avi probably isn't any good, but he isn't as bad as he has been the last few days.
  17. QUOTE (harkness @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 04:13 PM) Uhh... while I could agree with Dick that Danks is likely to see more starts. Comparing Sale having a couple bad outings... to Danks having a couple bad outings is not the same thing (the rest of their body of work is vastly different) So yeah Michael Jordan has a couple of bad games... I'm likely to give him more leeway. Some other much less talented player, with much less history of production doesn't automatically get the same buffer for bad play. So yeah, while I agree with Dick in one sense... the example was flawed. I wasn't comparing them as pitchers. I was just pointing out that even Chris Sale has 2 or 3 or 4 bad starts in a row. Dans is going to have them. As will his replacements. If 5th starter types only get 11 bad innings, you might set a roster record.
  18. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 02:02 PM) I don't think Danks has that long of a leash honestly. Some media guys have even mentioned it. I think he gets like 5-6 more starts as well but if he pitches like this all year, they won't keep trotting him out there. 5 or 6 more starts makes sense. Not now. EJ has been not so good. Gonzalez was horrid last year and rabbit posted his advanced numbers vs. Danks since 2012 were about the same. Maybe Turner will be ready to go in a while but right now the alternatives aren't better. If he continues to have trouble every start, he will be replaced. But after 2 is kind of silly unless there was an obvious upgrade just sitting there.
  19. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 01:27 PM) I feel like Dick Allen is the world's most long game troll. From the guy who was moaning about Adam Eaton's supposed spring training body language....priceless.
  20. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 01:19 PM) This is horrible logic. So what is the sound logic? Replace Danks with EJ or Gonzalez who have been worse recently? The fact is, your #5 starter isn't going to be stellar every time out. He is going to be awful at times. Even top pitchers are awful some nights.
  21. QUOTE (sammy esposito @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 01:22 PM) the only positive thing I have to say is he pitched well in spring training which doesn't count. There is a long line of spring training all stars that haven't done much when they games actually count.
  22. Matt Davidson in 2 years and about a week and a half as a Charlotte Knight, has fanned 373 times. That is 4 more times than Joe DiMaggio fanned in 13 seasons as a Yankee.
  23. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 12:30 PM) That could change if Danks clanks another outing. I really doubt it. Danks has had 2 rough starts. Chris Sale is an ace and he has had 2 rough starts in a row. Last year he had a 4 game stretch where he pitched 23 innings gave up 35 hits and 20 runs in 4 starts, and in 2 starts in 10 1/3 gave up 18 hits and 14 runs. Danks isn't as good as he is. He is expected to have some clunkers.
  24. QUOTE (harkness @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 12:25 PM) I wonder if he will be starting in Danks place. He's here to pick up innings. Not join the rotation.
  25. Booing Carlos Rodon was silly. I am pretty sure every major league baseball player has had a bad game or two. Of course I remember when the fanbase booed Frank Thomas. If a guy isn't trying, fine. But seriously, if players are always supposed to succeed, you are watching the wrong sport.
