  1. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 15, 2016 -> 10:21 AM) Rockies sign Mike Dunn. 3yr/$18m. Go all-in Rockies and deal for Q and Robertson. OK I watch baseball, I promise, I really do and I have never heard of this guy.
  2. I love the reviewers that are panning the story/screenplay of the movie. It is about a space war. I want cool characters and some good sci fi crap. When did the first three movies become the Godfather in regard to a story telling trilogy?
  3. QUOTE (Sonik22 @ Dec 15, 2016 -> 09:33 AM) Problem is she still thinks itd be fun to go. I was at that previous coldest game against the packers in 08. Woof. It's a fun game of trying to drink your beer before it freezes. I love drinking outside in cold weather...hell I just love drinking outside. The freezing of the beer is just a bonus. Going to watch the Bears though is not worth the ancillary trouble. Going ice fishing in a few weeks. Sleeping on the ice. Should be unique and fun.
  4. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 14, 2016 -> 08:37 AM) This is what I posted in the other thread regarding the new rules: Here's the Baseball America (paywall) explanation from Ben Badler: http://www.baseballamerica.com/internation...hyAyO7IBYWtT.97 Clubs either get $5.75, $5.25, or $4.75 million to spend on international prospects under 25 per year. Teams can trade all of their bonus amounts but can only acquire 75% of their bonus pool in trade. Here are the amounts. $5.75 million Arizona Baltimore Cleveland Colorado Kansas City Pittsburgh St. Louis San Diego $5.25 million Cincinnati Miami Milwaukee Minnesota Oakland Tampa Bay $4.75 million Atlanta Boston Chicago Cubs Chicago White Sox Detroit Houston LA Angels LA Dodgers NYM NYY Philly San Francisco Seattle Texas Toronto Washington Players that cost $10,000 or less don't count against the pool. The following teams can't spend over $300,000 on a player because they are in the penalty from previous years: Cubs, Dodgers, Giants, Royals, Athletics, Astros, Braves, Cardinals, Nationals, Padres, and Reds. All of those teams can trade their full amounts however. The White Sox can trade for up to $3.5 million more in international money. This is absolutely something that they should be doing. White Sox can spend $8.3 million internationally if they trade for the maximum that they can. I'll be very curious to see if they do this. Do they actually trade the funds or just he ability to spend the funds. I still do not see the White Sox spending any more money then they are comfortable with. They do not spend in free agency or internationally and will give nice contracts to players that give them a hometown discount. If this strategy is not changed I see no reason to believe they are going to spend the money doing things differently. This is similar to the Bears in that they spend enough to fulfill the criteria of spending but then short change the organization in other areas. Otani will end up the Yankees, Dodgers, cubs, Giants or Mariners.
  5. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 03:36 PM) I also think they're making a mistake with the back-to-back 90 minute episodes. Too much boring filler was added to the last 2 episodes which affects the pacing negatively IMO. Better editing could have made these last 2 even more engaging. That is commercial revenue more than anything. Am I the only one that thinks it is obvious that it is a new character? Wasn't the letter meant that they got as far as they did but they did not actually win becasue he was still out there and now he is going to come back for his stuff and when he did he saw what was happening? The pacing can be slow but at the same time they need to make a show out of it and it really is a show that has no real point to it.
  6. QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 12:12 PM) "The Bears should've drafted Prescott" is such a lazy, useless statement that conveys no actual constructive thought. The fact is he has an all world running back and phenomenal offensive line...as well as an offensive minded head coach have aided him. You put him on the Bears now and he is David Fales. Teams seem to be figuring him out a little as well. The issue though is that the Bears have not even tried to develop a QB while at the same time not really liking Cutler either.
  7. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 12:16 PM) Whatever happened to the black dude on the bridge? He never died on screen. Could it be him? No in the timeline the bridge jumping and that event are about the same time/day.
  8. QUOTE (MEANS @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 08:17 AM) From what I've heard...none of your guesses are correct....it's brand new That's what I figured. They assumed the guy with the cache was no longer in play.
  9. I really only watch the Bears and the playoffs so I am not all that up on the career of Matt Barkley (I don't play fantasy football either) but I found it odd he had never started a game before coming to the Bears. I know he was super-hyped going into USC and didn't live up to those expectations. He certainly looks serviceable.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 09:49 AM) The one thing that Q has going for him right now is that a low payroll team that wants to play the "be in the race every year" game can look at him and say that 4 years of control is perfect for what they want to do. If the Pirates want to compete every year, he fits there. The Astros are looking at a 5+ year horizon and 4 years basically falls in that. The closer you get to his FA date, the value might not substantially drop, but the number of teams that could get in might drop. He's still the price of a #2 starter either way, but if you start having teams drop out because they will only look long term, then your chances of getting that return could drop. Growing up in the 70's the Pirates and Orioles were my favorite teams next to the Sox and I still like them. For the life of me I really cannot figure why each team seems to have gotten to point B but cannot seem to get to point C. I know the Britten thing in the wild card did in the O's but I still think they were missing a couple of pieces. The Pirates can't get through the playoffs becasue they do not address their flaws and with the cubs and Dodgers where they are now, the Pirates window may be closed. Pirates remind me of the Sox from the last few years except they were able to achieve a level of success but are just not good enough.
  11. Which old man got their kid further Monte Buddy I would say Bum but Wade is doing pretty well.
  12. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 10:42 AM) Mark ZuckermanVerified account ‏@MarkZuckerman #Nats have made offer to Jansen, met with #Rays about Colome, #WhiteSox about Robertson, per sources: Quintana and Robertson for Turner and Severino I will not rest until we get Trea Turner!!!!!
  13. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 06:00 AM) The team finally has a plan/purpose. I can see people going to more games - even is they are going to lose A LOT initially. For me, even if I go to a game and we lose 12-2, i'm still hype because I know what's coming. I agree with you. Fans hated that teams inability to win. There was a glimmer early last year but then it did not fade, it crashed and burned over a three week span. Fans will tune in to see what is happening. If things break for the Sox as they did for the cubs, in 2020, they could be the best team in baseball. Nobody went last year, it really could nto get any worse at the game.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 09:00 AM) No need for season tickets, walk right up and buy the game you want to go to. Get below face on the internet A buddy and I reupped our 7 game plan to 27 games.
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 01:15 PM) I think they could certainly do it without Turner. Question is whether they'd gut their system like that. If Turner is not in the conversation, there is no conversation. Add Robertson or Jones if needed. Eaton and Quintana are better than Sale.
  16. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 04:09 PM) Could you get Turner, Robles and Giolito for Eaton and Quintana? I want this trade just not sure you could get Robles. You CANNOT trade both of those guys to Washington and not get Turner.
  17. Gotta be Giolito and Turner there is no other package that could be close.
  18. I hate hearing that these guys have "upside" just becasue the White Sox do not seem to ever get the guy to that upside. Hopefully I am just overly negative.
  19. They all blinked and missed out on Sale. I'd like to see the Pirates get in here as I have stated before. Cutch to Nats Quintana to Pirates Glasnow and Giolito to White Sox That sounds good to me.
  20. Two teams selling low on their players. Cubs are losing youth at a high clip.
  21. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 04:17 PM) We will have TONS of payroll flexibility as a result of the rebuild Once Melky and Robertson are off the books the payroll will be tiny Plenty of money for the bad 4year /$48-60M deals they like to hand out to s***ty players.
  22. The thing that irritates me about trading him was the epic failure of the organization to build around two front of the rotation guys.
  23. Could you get Turner, Robles and Giolito for Eaton and Quintana?
