QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 10, 2017 -> 01:31 PM) Those guys are getting in. First ballot, maybe, maybe not. But they are getting in. And being a dick to Pompei is just unprofessional, he wasnt being combative he was just explaining what happens That's a real good way to have nobody call your show to assist in programming. Bernstein panders to guest callers, as he should, and s***s on the audience.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 8, 2017 -> 11:07 PM) http://www.cnn.com/2017/02/08/politics/chr...rnor/index.html Chris Kennedy, son of RFK, to run for governor. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-chri...0208-story.html He was on WGN this morning. Seemed to add nothing new and if you did not know any better, prior to Rauner, the State of Illinois was doing just fine.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 10:05 AM) Belichick without Brady but a replacement-level QB is a perennial playoff contender and probably still grabs a few of SB appearances and maybe even a win. Brady on Jacksonville is lucky the make the playoffs a couple of times. I agree with you and that is the thing about football. What if Cutler had any type of offensive football stability. He could be a coach killer but at the same time none of the coaches that were fired ever did anything nor other than Gase were they accomplished they year before they got here except maybe Tice.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 12:04 PM) Bama has been running the spread for 2 years now. Their starting QB is a runner before a passer. They are actually a great fit. I am talking the speed and style of that offense. Saben called out that style of football two years ago and thought it was a bad for football. I am not certain he will now buy into it but maybe. That offensive line is not built to run 85-90 plays a game. Maybe he will go that way but I don't see why he would. -

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 11:12 AM) Steve Sarkisian is leaving Alabama to become the OC of the Atlanta Falcons. God I hope Chip Kelly is the next OC at Alabama. Not sure the Alabama roster is made for his brand of football. Do you think that would work or were you joking. -
QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 05:58 AM) I wish I could stop watching the Curse of Oak Island it's like an hour a week of watching Geraldo open up Al Capone's vault I think i watched two seasons of that and then have forgoteen it was on. Watching Justified. Walter Goggins could be my favorite actor.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 09:59 AM) I know it's not the point of the discussion but Mully and Hanley are f***ing terrible. I agree and they seem like good guys that I should want to listen to. I really tried to want myself to like them.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 1, 2017 -> 04:10 PM) I've got friends living in Lux and they go to France, Germany, Belgium, etc all the time. They don't really worry about it that much, they were supposed to go to Paris right after the Paris attacks and cancelled that trip obviously but for the most part they and most of the people they are around aren't afraid of travelling around. Their thoughts are based on a comparative outlook over time. Their feeling is the situation has deteriorated over time in that region and should it progress as such is going to be a major security risk.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 1, 2017 -> 02:55 PM) Oh ok, I mustve missed that. My EMEA team hasnt seemed to be very worried about that stuff, but whatever. People I am associated with that travel to Europe on a regular basis believe that it is a real issue, especially in southern Europe (Italy and Greece). I have a friend that works in governmental security that tells everyone to avoid Europe at all cost and another that travels to Germany every other month for business that feels the same way. I am not certain if this is an over reaction on their part but they have been doing this travelling for the last 15 years.

I am not that into wrestling but the Miz is my favorite guy and I have no clue why. My house has a subscription to WWE network and I think I have watched every Staracade at least once. I made my kids watch the 1987 one at the UIC Pavilion that I attended -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 1, 2017 -> 10:48 AM) I love signing day on the other end. It is so cool seeing kids that would have never had a chance at college get the chance to go because of football. and put the education to good use. -

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 1, 2017 -> 08:37 AM) It was a foregone conclusion but Ricky Smalling is a huge get. That kid is a stud. Too bad they couldn't put Jeff Thomas next to him. I think with Lovie he will play on Sunday's as a CB/return man -

QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Jan 30, 2017 -> 01:59 PM) Anyone want to hack our databases for 2 draft picks and $2 million? I'd take that trade.... TWTW is not quantifiable and as such is unhackable. Go you White Sox! -

Gotta remember the draft occurs between now and the trade deadline so a team like Pittsburgh could have a replacement in house for a top ranked guy. -
QUOTE (New Era on South Side @ Jan 26, 2017 -> 05:04 PM) If I wanted to move to Mike Madigan's precinct and run against him, how long would I have to live there? Do people in his precinct actually think he's doing a good job and vote him in or is there poor turnout? He will never lose. That area is represented by Dan Lipinski as well. Their rep at state and federal levels has not changed since 1983 yet the demographics have pretty much turned completely over. The alderman, Ed Burke has been in that role has 1969. The epitome of machine politics and why the state, county and state are in the shape they are. Glad to see the new Comptroller and Lisa Madigan are working to make sure the machine does not slow down.

Ken Rosenthal: Trade Deadline Will be Insane

QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 26, 2017 -> 03:48 PM) That wasn't the point I was trying to make. For one thing, other than Shields and possibly Robertson (if he sucks this year) the Sox don't have any bad contracts. We've seen teams like Milwaukee and Atlanta basically buy prospects. The idea is take on someone who sucks who has some money on the contract and receive a better prospect or greater package. Or alternatively, eat money on someone you trade. If there is a team that needs a veteran bat in LF who has no payroll room, let's use Pittsburgh as an example, the Sox eat some of the contract. Melky is owed ~7M from June on and the Sox eat 4 million of it to get a B prospect they like instead of a C prospect. It's obviously a strategy that is easy for a fan to get behind, "Hey let's let ownership spend more money so we can get more young players" but innovative executives are employing these tactics. The Braves got Touki Toussaint out of this and the Brewers got Isan Diaz out of this. Every bit counts. and the Padres did in the james shields trade -

I think the draft will be a big part of finding replacements for guys they may move. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 24, 2017 -> 12:39 PM) And that is with Rodon getting shoved through the minors in about an hour and a half. If Rodon had taken the typical tour de minors, he would have put up some disgusting numbers against true minor league talent. I wish they would have been slower with Rodon and Anderson. -
Stagg seems like a weird school in that it is a collection of just about every type of community. I look at Shepard in Alsip kind of the same way. I would think it would be easy to fall into bad habits there.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 20, 2017 -> 09:37 AM) God damn. Yes that is a nice number but then add in the amount you spend because the public schools suck. There is no high school option for Beverly / Mt Greenwood so you have a $10K hit for that per student as well as grammar school for a good number of folks in that area. I give the archdiocese of Chicago $18,000 a year.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 11:41 PM) Thanks for the excellent responses. I wonder why that woman told my friend she couldn't afford the property taxes. Thanks again. The one pot shot about Kansas. I'm not acting like Kansas is any good. I was just wondering if my favorite city of Chicago was in deep trouble or not. Could somebody estimate for me the taxes you'd pay with a modest house on 103rd and Trumbull? Mt. Greenwood? What would the house be worth and what would a working stiff have to pay in taxes to live there?? Thank you very much. About $2,900, up from $2,100 five or six years ago.
