2014-2015 NFL Football thread
Harry Chappas replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Good or bad cutler is here and the new coach needs to figure it out. Getting rid of jay unless you get at least one 1st round pick does nothing for the betterment of this franchise. Washington is a disaster that had nothing to do with Shanahan I think he would be worth a shot. -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 26, 2014 -> 09:15 AM) interesting take from yourself I'll go with troll as well. Anyone that is 68 years old and thinks Ventura and aj are the problems/answers well.....

QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 23, 2014 -> 04:40 PM) Michigan is courting him so hard and with so much money to back it up I dont know if I can see him turning it down. He would probably make about half the money in the NFL right? http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/...ch-jim-harbaugh I wonder how much of that is real and how much is an agent pumping things up. -
Sox acquire Jeff Samardzija and Michael Ynoa

If healthy and pitches close to his contract with his roots to the team and personality, he could become to the White Sox, something that they have never really had a genuine connection of fan and team. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 19, 2014 -> 01:44 PM) Tracey Myers @TramyersCSN 1h1 hour ago Duncan Keith said his illness was never that bad but, with everything happening in the NHL, #Blackhawks played it safe keeping him out. Derrick Rose says, exactly. -

Homlgren runs football turns Emery's dumb moves Emery GM Harbaugh coach- VP of football ops It really is not that hard to map out but this is where this franchise fails on an annual basis. There is no structure at all in which to make these moves and succeed. -

Remember that hit that Cutler took to the sternum earlier this year. What is going to happen is we will hear he has been playing with broken ribs/bruised sternum all year and that is what has been the problem and that is why he is no longer starting. I don't know, this whole damn thing is surreal. -
Anderson Garcia and montas is as far as they should go Quintana and Anderson would be the ask from Tampa I believe

Harbaugh may be the boot that goes into Cutler's ass that works. They will probably try and go after Dave Toab. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 12:44 PM) By the way, notice how Emery has started to distance himself from Trestman & Company? He went all in when he shoved Arians out of the picture, too late to distance himself now. He goes down with that ship. The s***show that is that coaching staff was all Emery. The Bears look like a badly coached college team right now. Actually there are high school teams are more properly run. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 11:52 AM) I think if you expect to have him carry your team, you are a fool. I think if you surround him with a good team and have a good running game, oline and OC and use playaction and don't give him a lot of rope to hang himself, he can be effective on that sort of team. Basically put, he's someone who could win on a good team (and not be a detriment...put him on Arizona / Houston / Buffalo and those are upgrades). But to think you can win with him at the helm and out gunsling your opponents is a losing proposition. He isn't in that class, not even close. In fact, the very idea of letting him drop back that many times is a disaster waiting to happen (as we've seen). I do think at this point Jay and most everyone on this offense have quit. I'm not saying some of them aren't trying but I think in their head they are half into it cause they pretty much know what is called isn't going to work. I think they literally have zero faith in their staff and I agree with whomever mentioned it, but when this era ends, a lot of dirt is going to come out about how dysfunctional and bad things are/were. He is paid to carry the team. Surround anyone with good team and they will do good. -
Now I find this team hard to cheer for. Was Penny on the 2004 Marlins? I may like him yet.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 09:08 AM) People watched the Bears last night? Why? They are the epitome of fun bad. Let's go for a fake and do so with 10 men on the field. Between that and the WR false starts, just amazing. -
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 15, 2014 -> 05:55 PM) Hey Mike, watch out for this guy, he posts like he owns the place. Why isn't he member number 1?

QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Dec 15, 2014 -> 01:07 PM) The beginning of this Lester presser sounds like an Oscar acceptance speech. I wonder how much these establishments paying to host the press conferences?

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 01:06 PM) Or the Olympics Or college sports Or high schools sports Just put the Little League World Series on a continuous loop year round. All teams that play in the Little League World Series are cheaters, I am not joking. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 12, 2014 -> 11:23 AM) Hoke or Pasq are the only guys that I would have ever let take over. DeCamillis would be the guy, he is asst head coach along with Kromer and while he sucks he may be hte guy they keep around. News in Chicago/radio talking heads are that Trestman and Emery are safe. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 12, 2014 -> 09:55 AM) Yea, I dont think they WANT to run less, but what he is saying is that Jay needed to recognize when a play was going to be busted and check out of it. or not check out of so many runs or check into a run. Basically Jay needs to be able to read defenses and change plays better. -

While not a Lovie fan, he was winning, when you fire him and then the organization regresses, there is no way Emery should keep his job especially when Arians is doing what he is doing. -
If the cubs feel like the advertising of their network can generate more than the 20% they are getting from Comcast it could be a good deal. Now if it turns into a Houston or LA deal, well that does not work. The Big Ten Network hit the jackpot on this and maybe the cub network will to. With Comcast you can sell the advertisers on the four Chicago teams and no down time as well as Bear programming.
