  1. If it is 60 and sunny for opening day, Comiskey Park will be rocking.
  2. With the Sears Tower becoming the Willis Center and then One Freedom passing The Willis Center in height, I think with some good promotion can get eh ball rolling here. Ole Rahm could get some good publicity as well.
  3. I still think the Sox get Arroyo. No real reason to think this, I just do.
  4. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Feb 7, 2014 -> 11:07 AM) http://www.mlb.com/cws/ticketing/march_to_opening_day.jsp Hey, if you're rich enough to plop down the money for 20+ tickets in February, we have free stuff for you! If you have to save up to take a family of four to a game or two, well then f*** YOU! I bought 200 tickets to a game back in December. I am not rich and they are not for me they are for a group.
  5. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 7, 2014 -> 09:47 AM) They OWN the 50+ TV market. as well as the 18-49 market
  6. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 7, 2014 -> 08:44 AM) Mogul skiing looks brutal. There is no way you are not getting new knees and hips at age 50 from that although it looks pretty cool.
  7. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Feb 6, 2014 -> 01:46 PM) I deleted half of my wife's 50+ episodes of SVU from the DVR in order to make room for curling. It would be nice to be able to continue reading/posting in this thread without rendering that effort futile. I hate looking at the DVR and there are 75 episodes of Roseanne.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 6, 2014 -> 01:47 PM) If they didn't have a contract with the Cubs to legitimize them, thus IMO they are not "stealing" the product, I would agree. But they are running a business, and since the Cubs gave them a contract, they dump a lot of money into their business, and I think are entitled to the view they had when they signed the contract. The Cubs legitimized their business. Now they have no control over the state of the team which can increase or decrease their bottom line. But putting up a scoreboard and blocking their view while in the middle of this contract isn't right IMO. Think about it, if you owned a rooftop building and had this contract and dumped a bunch of money into it only to have the Cubs erect a scoreboard rendering your vantage point worthless, would you consider a lawsuit against the Cubs being a bad guy? The Cubs realize they have a legitimate point or why would a potential lawsuit scare them so much? The thing to remember is that these are not your mom and dads rooftop these are essentially skyboxes and the rooftop owners sunk a ton of capital into them. Some of them are no longer apartment buildings.
  9. I have had a sinus infection for the past month. Last night I shoveled my street which had not been cleared this month. Took 3 hours with all of the compacted ice. What a pain in the ass. Oh and good morning to a -3
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 6, 2014 -> 11:19 AM) If the Cubs want to move, I would pay to drive their moving truck. Did you never go to a cub game and see the Allied Van Lines truck races? The races as recently as 2005 had 1970's technology behind them. They got the move all covered.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 6, 2014 -> 10:45 AM) Is Beckman really in a position to take shots against anyone? Beckman took a shot at rival Northwestern, which picked up four players from Illinois, including three four-star recruits. "We signed four players out of the 'state of Chicago,' as we call it," Beckman said at a news conference. "That was more than the actual team that is in Chicago." Really sad state of affairs when Illinois is bragging about kind of out-recruiting Northwestern.
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 6, 2014 -> 05:38 AM) Penalty kill doing work last night. One more game Friday, then the Olympic break begins. It was awesome 5-3 killed and 4 minute double minor
  13. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 5, 2014 -> 08:37 PM) You're not quite sure how businesses work, specifically the White Sox and Bulls, are you? I guess green was in order. I think the isfa gets the money not the white sox.
  14. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 5, 2014 -> 04:16 PM) And he's never going to spend this on the team ever. Well he may use it to sign Mello
  15. JR lining his pockets once again with the state run facility that he pays nothing for
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 5, 2014 -> 12:22 PM) Its his mom vs him. She was on the radio saying he knew nothing about the school other than his friends there telling him he didnt have to go to class. This is more about what I am talking about and the idiocy of the spectacle. http://deadspin.com/the-legacy-of-the-deci...r-ta-1516693843
  17. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 5, 2014 -> 01:46 PM) Eh I'm not sure how much the US media should really harp on the Russian government about that given all of the NSA programs that have come out over the last year. Yes being hacked by the Russian mafia and having your identity stolen is very similar to the NSA as they have been known to sell your personal information on the black-market to make a buck. I have no issue with the NSA and how they work.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 5, 2014 -> 11:50 AM) Yeah he was early. McDowell apparently faked his signature for the cameras and still hasnt signed to MSU. Classic. I don't think that is classic. I think it is stupid and makes a mockery of what the process is all about. I understand rivalries and all that crap but the whole process has become a dumb reality show of high school players to show how uneducated they really are as they make their way into prestigious university and blow an opportunity to get a real education and show that they have been so coddled their whole lives that they can string along these programs. I do understand that the programs really could give a s*** about them as well and it is all about the mighty dollar.
  19. QUOTE (coco1997 @ Feb 5, 2014 -> 11:18 AM) The Blue Jays, Braves and White Sox will wear new hats in spring training Here's the new hat our guys will be sporting this season during the throwback games: I don't hate it.
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 5, 2014 -> 09:35 AM) He saw that Audi commercial and took it to heart. Until he hit the wall, it was all going to plan.
  21. Driving in I saw some hero take his Audi into a wall and do a 360 into the other side. No other cars were involved. This winter sucks.
  22. QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 4, 2014 -> 12:34 PM) No, it is very corrupt. People bribe officials with gifts and money all the time. Of course it's looked down upon, but it doesn't mean it isn't done. People who work as officials in the Chinese government don't make a lot of money, but most of them live a lavish life style with numerous houses and cars. How do you think it got that way? In the good ole US of A those doing the bribing are called unions/lobbyists the main difference is those getting the kickbacks are hiring qualified firms/individuals to do the work.
  23. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Feb 4, 2014 -> 01:40 PM) http://www.baseballprospectus.com/fantasy/dc/ Too Low? Too High? Discuss. I think it is right on a couple of things go right .500, couple of things go wrong 70-92
  24. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 4, 2014 -> 11:14 AM) It makes you wonder where the $51 billion they have spent on the Olympics has gone. If you read the stories it sounds like at least a third has gone right into people's pockets for no other reason than they can get it. The firms doing the work know nothing about construction which is a double whammy. The IOC is an embarrassment.
  25. Didn't thome homer at Cleveland on opening day in 06 to kick off his sox career
