Sox setting up for the end of the Konerko era?
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 8, 2013 -> 11:55 AM) You honestly believe teh Sox trade Jake Peavy in midseason and attendance does nothing, and no one writes about White Flag? Now I know you are trolling. The cubs have white flagged two years now and god knows how many more. To say anything the Sox do is a white flag is a Joe Cowley inciter piece. The Blackhawks have a better chance scoring a goal than the White Sox do getting runs. Since last Wednesday this is guess as it is disgusting Blackhawks 13 White Sox 11 that is all you need to know

John Danks surgery/rehab/recovery thread
If John Danks is not hitting 90 he will be massacred at the MLB level. He can not throw strikes consistently enough to get by with mediocre control.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 6, 2013 -> 04:39 PM) They had a plan. Start at 3B and hit second. Which for his skillset I do not feel is a good plan. Just because hawk thinks a bad plan is a good plan doesn't make every plan a good plan.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ May 6, 2013 -> 04:50 PM) With a 2-1 final, did we steal one? Is that based on Getz bobbling the ball? Both teams struggled apparently to break through in the first 9... Sox had a 0.5 WHIP through 8 innings If people are going to b**** about Reed yesterday the Sox won in that same fashion today that was about all I was trying to say.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Pitching is fine KC stole one yesterday, Sox stole one today. 3-3 road trip not that bad Not sure why it is taking Stella(Sale) an inning or two to get his groove on. Kind of the the anti-Quintana. After two innings, this game should have been history Nice win

QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2013 -> 04:26 PM) Nice job by the bullpen and major credit to Danks for getting the big hit. We all hate him so far this year, but Kepp got the rally started in the 9th. I hate that the White Sox did not have a good plan on how to use him.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2013 -> 04:03 PM) There are no other options. Gillaspie doesn't profile as a leadoff hitter. What does DeAza profile as?

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 6, 2013 -> 03:50 PM) For those on gamecast, Thornton had an easy comebacker DP and made an awful throw to 2nd, so Alexei could only get the lead out. Those damned fundamentals who needs those and advanced statistics we have TWTW.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2013 -> 03:48 PM) Someone always has an excuse for Danks making dumbass plays. Sadly he is not even as good defensively as he was touted to be.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2013 -> 03:45 PM) Jordan Danks is a bad baseball player that makes a lot of mistakes on the field. Not really sure what he brings to the table other than they have liked him since high school. 4 hits and a run, that is what the White Sox call a rally Bring in heath and get out of town already

QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2013 -> 03:42 PM) The carry over from last year's collapse is just insane. Here comes the swing from the heels on pitches in the dirt ground out to short.

The inability of this team to execute is almost incomprehensible.

Three hits and no runs, White Sox baseball.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2013 -> 03:23 PM) Yep, this is inexcusable. If they think adding Beckham and Viciedo is going to help this lineup against RHP, they are dumber than we think. Slappy type hitters like DeAza and Wise who do not walk are not assets especially if they are only average fielders. It goes back to thinking Juan Pierre was a good hitter. The DeAza regression seems a little out of the blue but thinking Keppinger was an everyday answer was dumb as was the fact that they put no effort in getting bench players. Flowers s***iness is tolerable if the other 8 guys are doing their jobs.

The offense makes this team unwatchable which is sad because the pitching is good enough for them to win. Every inning of every game is stressful for this piss poor hitting team. You cannot win in the AL if you cannot hit. Manto's philosophy seemed bad from the get go as OBP was not something he cared about.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 5, 2013 -> 02:34 PM) Since April 20th, Rios is hitting .130 with a .435 OPS. Part of that could be the worthlessness in front of him.

With as horrendous as keppinger looks, greene should get time until Beckham comes back

Lack of offense is causing every inning to be high leverage which bodes well for nobody

Sox vs Rangers game thread 5/2/13
If the other 8 guys are not making outs at a Juan Pierre rate you can live with flowers as most teams have those issues. It is the 2 for 50 run thtt Dunn had and the current konerko with kepp and deaza that magnify flowers shortcomings.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2013 -> 08:23 PM) People keep talking about his babip, but it's hard to take comfort in that when his outs are so weak. I wonder if he came into camp way out of shape due to his leg injury during the offseason. Babip in my mind is a dumb stat. Keppinger was put in positions to succeed as that is a Tampa focus. The white sox plug guys in and off they go. When was the last time they ever had a platoon situation?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 2, 2013 -> 08:15 PM) Because KW/Hahn were getting too clever for their own good and thinking they could get a significant return for Gavin at the ASB. After our early "offensive barrage," we've settled into the middle innings "blahs" again, like clockwork. Grimm's got a lot of talent, and we are lacking in that area...more tip your caps. He still could have been stretched out in the spring and moved to the pen in April.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2013 -> 08:07 PM) Isn't that what Reed is? He's not overpowering, but he has 3 solid pitches (for a reliever) and has good command. I didn't say he wasn't but that is why if the sox move him they do not need to look for a stuff guy. I think there is no market for closers so why even move him?
