  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 14, 2013 -> 01:58 PM) Not to mention that the value of the team has NOTHING to do with how much money there is to spend. Having a million dollar house doesn't mean you have a million in cash to spend. NBA players do not agree with you.
  2. Pre-steroid era, wasn't Barry Bonds a post season disaster? Yet another case of what steroids can do. He seemed to wear down as the season went on.
  3. ESPN Radio talking about Norv Turner and Lovie working together in Phlliy.
  4. ESPN is killing sports media the same way MTV killed the music video I really wished the NFL and MLB formed their own network as the programming gets thin in the offseason.
  5. QUOTE (Cali @ Jan 9, 2013 -> 12:59 PM) They seem to keep setting up to finish just above .500 every time. That's cool with you? I will spend my money on a decent baseball team because I like to watch baseball. I will not spend my time or money watching a team that is eliminated from any sort of baseball entertainment on April 1st. Sucking and rebuilding are fine but what happens if the rebuild does not work out?
  6. Next year will be Bonds, Piazza and Maddux, maybe Raines but if Raines does not get in this year, he will not get the votes the next few years. Thomas, Glavine, Biggio and Clemens the following year.
  7. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 8, 2013 -> 03:49 PM) They had a week off to determine the opponent. If he can't implement the game plan in a week which is usual for the regular season, he shouldn't be an OC. These guys work year around watching film and evaluating game plans. Are you telling me him taking a week off to interview will have no impact?
  8. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 8, 2013 -> 01:52 PM) Well, there are worse things to happen to an assistant coach then to have their name buzzed about for being head coach. The teams letting them interview may not think so. You think Mike McCoy could be a little distracted by this when he has a game plan to implement. Now what if he interviewed every day last week and this week? Interviewing them for s***s and giggles will make a GM look bad.
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 8, 2013 -> 11:07 AM) Key quote: "And if an assistant coach believes that there’s no serious interest in hiring him, he has no duty to accept the invitation to interview." These guys egos though tell them they are worthy and have a shot.
  10. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jan 8, 2013 -> 10:20 AM) I personally love what Emery is doing. He is getting free intel on a bunch of teams in the league. He's also getting an opportunity to see how other teams around the league view the talent on our roster. It's really smart. I don't think it's an accident he interviewed coaches from the Vikings and Pack. He ultimately needs to find the right guy, but this is a good secondary use of his opportunity. I think it is a terrible idea as teams are going to not let Emery interview guys moving forward and guys will not want to interview with him. They just got rid of a guy who alienated most of the NFL and could not get anyone to take the DC or OC jobs. If Emery is using this to try and figure out to make his team better he needs to be fired.
  11. RGIII has a short self life no matter what, Cousins and Shanny may work pretty well with one another.
  12. As a casual fan, I said, cool. I watch the Blackhawks and really nobody else. It is good winter television which is nice for the next two months. Glad they are back.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 7, 2013 -> 12:47 PM) There needs to be an embarrassment. Baseball deserves it for trying to ignore what happened over the last 20-30 years and pretending it never happened. There are guys I want to see get in, but I am OK with them missing out if it forces baseball to give some public guidance here. Is the Hall of Fame a baseball entity or run by the NBWA. I love how people think baseball is supposed to be so pure while every other sport does little to monitor the things baseball gets black eyes for. The NHL, NBA or NFL are not held to a standard near MLB when it comes to drug testing.
  14. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 02:16 PM) 3% is a significant difference in completion percentage. 1 more completion a game if you average throwing the ball 33 times a game.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 01:14 PM) You can question them all you want, but chances are they know more than you or me. Those two are senile
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 3, 2013 -> 01:14 PM) I think he passed the "HC material" test this season... The Steelers were on crack to fire him... The fact he is 60 years old and has not had a head coaching job other than at Temple leads me to believe there is something amiss there. Also emery interviewing all of these guys seems odd. The Atlanta or Dallas special teams coaches are interviewed yet Toab is not considered for the job? If you are the GM and you fire your coach your search should be rather small, as I would think he knows what he wants. He seems to be interviewing everyone.
  17. Word is Carimi was injured all year (never healed) but should be 100% next year......sounds like a columbo thing.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 2, 2013 -> 12:44 PM) Not a chance. guess I should have used green
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 2, 2013 -> 12:39 PM) So Hester isn't going anywhere. Thought he retired.
  20. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Dec 21, 2012 -> 12:58 PM) Signing Jackson might just be a roundabout way to acquire prospects at the deadline. Feldman and baker maybe but the Jackson deal is too rich
  21. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Dec 21, 2012 -> 09:45 AM) Actually...it is, among other things. The other things are the issues that I think they need to resolve. I think the NHL is getting themselves into a deeper hole now that is not going to go away when the lockout is settled. Settling on the split may answer the problems that existed in August but I think the revenue for the NHL is going to tank moving forward.
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 21, 2012 -> 10:08 AM) This is a really ridiculous statement. If Jabari Parker cared about education he would have gone to Whitney Young instead of Simeon. Nothing wrong with that thought process but I highly doubt Parker is at Duke for more than one year and education probably played little to no role in choice.
  23. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 21, 2012 -> 08:41 AM) And still got a 4 year deal, dude has value to a lot of teams. At this rate, every one of them by the time he retires. He is the new Javier Vazquez.
  24. They really need to condense teams or do something real to fix this thing. When you lose two season in a rather short period of time something major is broken. This isn't a percentage point difference in revenue sharing.
  25. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Dec 20, 2012 -> 03:54 PM) Wow after Soriano NTC fiasco...............Theo said the Cubs would not give any more NTC out............Whoops! Meet the new boss same as the old boss. Edwin Jackson is an enigma that maybe the bright sunshine of day baseball can fix. That is not a good deal. The guy has been on 7 teams already.
