f*** JUAN PIERRE and guillen for thinkign that he was essential to winning, what an asshat. Also John Danks is a solid MLB pitcher who can not go longer than 6 innings and his worth his money and I am glad the Sox resigned him. -

There is no way Danks should start the 6th. Again with the off day yesterday and tomorrow the pen could use the work and Danks is doing nothing to make it look like he should remain in the game. -

0-2 pitch got too much of the plate, say what you want about defense but his control is terrible. Same old danks a real solid 5 or 6 inning pitcher. -

Sinker not sinking much until the Beckham pitch. Danks can get the ball up today with this weather, he needs to manage his pitch count better via strikes especially with a three run lead. -

QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 11:35 AM) Makes sense, neither of those teams are set up to bunt for hits a whole lot. Cleveland is not set up for anything on the hitting side of things. -

QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 11:29 AM) Good try on the bunt by De Aza, but barely rolls foul. Farmer was saying on Monday that the field at Cleveland is designed for those to roll foul, same as Texas. -

Busy morning at he old sweatshop. Logged into Soxtalk to catch up from the last time I entered Soxtalk and BOOM Sox had started and were winning 4-0, flip on the radio to here 4-1. Going back to work. Go Sox. If the Manto approach stays working I like the new direction of the team. Sure it is no cub Way approach but it is what we can get. -
Price tag is $500M and on its way to $600M. I have nor problem with the city fixing the joint up but Ricketts needs to sell it to the ISFA.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 10, 2012 -> 09:44 AM) People only have to swing at his slider if they're protecting against his fastball. If he can't get the fastball over, then they can sit back and wait for him to throw a strike with it...and if he throws the slider they're already not swinging. See Carlos Marmol although I do not think he throws as hard as Santos.

I think it is a KW v Coop thing as well as in the locker room I highly doubt they were talking about public opinion.

Morel back to the two hole, really? -
Over the past 6 months I have watched all of Mad Men and the first three seasons of Breaking Bad and Sons of Anarchy. That is some good television there. Any idea how I can get SOA season 4 and Breaking Bad season 4.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 9, 2012 -> 09:01 AM) All I can say is good riddance. At what point does he pull a Sammy Sosa and forget how to speak english. The comparison to Schott is interesting, he may get suspended. Good riddance asshat.

Floyd seems to just get killed with the long ball. Rolling right along and than a bomb.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 8, 2012 -> 09:24 AM) Hoyer was in San Diego. Yep and was about to be fired for a GM that had successfully rebuilt a team with a youth movement. I think what he cubs did was fine but when the media had Theo literally walking on water and does not vet the former situation at all other than to say he is the mastermind of the Red Sox and left to take a better job they are wrong. My point is, after looking at the roster in reality fans are now beginning to whistle a different tune. The more than have to watch Marmol fail and Marshall close for the Reds the harder it becomes. I know this could all change in the blink of an eye but the cub fans are being asked to ignore baseball for at least two year, not sure that is a good idea.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 7, 2012 -> 10:08 PM) It's settled then. Hawks/Coyotes in round 1. Let's get it, boys. Sets up well. I did not realize Detroit could still have gotten home ice in round one with two points.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 7, 2012 -> 07:05 PM) And no one at Wrigley cares if they lose anyway. While partly true there are plenty of folks around that are coming to realize just how bad that team is. There is almost no hope there for even a casual watching of a baseball game unless you really like to watch Starlin Castro. The fact that they could be 2-0 if Marshall was not traded for a AAA pitcher is not helping. Why trade Marshall and not Marmol? Also if you look at the state of the Red Sox right now you realize Theo and Jed were about to be unemployed and the cubs came to the rescue.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 7, 2012 -> 10:46 PM) So it's really intriguing watching a game with a new manager, as it's so hard to figure out what he's going to do. So far, Ventura definitely seems like he doesn't care about lefty/righty match-ups all that much. We've yet to see any bunt attempts as well. I disagreed with leaving Thornton in to face Napoli, but Ventura seems to be asking players to prove their ability to him and not relying on previous season stats. I said this in the game thread, but I loved how he pitched out with 2 outs and 2 strikes. It didn't work, but we'll get a handful of easy outs this year doing that. Maybe it is the Easter morning sugar rush but RV seems to be more of a manager and less of a gut type guy whichi was the Ozzie way. The 2 strike pitch will cause teams to not try and steal there. No harm no foul when you do that but it will get in the scouting report and be taken out of the game or teams will just concede the inning there which is fine with me. I know it is early but there seems to be a better philosophy and teaching. Case in point, Alexi Ramirez does not take the throw on steals two feet in front of the bag. This was a fundamental flaw that should have been corrected when Alexi was playing for international Guillen hero Castro and was correctly quickly this year.

QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Apr 8, 2012 -> 01:11 AM) Imagine that Cepedes guy sandwiched between him and Konerko Sox management really blew that one. Now he's playing to crowds of 16k in Oakland. You know who blew it on that one, Theo.

QUOTE (sunofgold @ Apr 7, 2012 -> 10:21 PM) So now a have a question? Did Santiago know that he was the closer until the ninth inning tonight? I don't think so. Yesterday he said something about just being told to warm up and be ready. I criticized Ventura on not revealing Santiago as the closer (when he was). Maybe now in hindsight Robin didn't want to make Santiago too nervous or think about it too much. He just threw Santiago into the fire and didn't let Santiago overthink or have a restless night. Or am I now giving Ventura too much credit? But , if the above is the case, that is pretty good managing. Cooper on the radio Friday made it sound like the players knew but they were not telling the media.
-
Santos blew a save and the cubs miss Marshall yet Kw is the media idiot.
-
Not naming the closer was a thing of beauty as the kid was never under media pressure and for one day it worked. Also hawk said that the manager change will help this team, it looks so.
-
Hope they can score on quick. Not sure losing that way is a good thing or not.

QUOTE (sunofgold @ Apr 6, 2012 -> 03:41 PM) I kinda didn't like how Ventura managed this game and I have been supporting him. Morel batting second? He never has batted second before and boy did he look uncomfortable. Having De Aza try to steal second with Dunn up there and of course Dunn walks Taking Danks out early in a close game kinda is a give up move. Not thinking about possibly extra inning game. Not using a pinch hitter for Morel or Beckham or Rios etc If the game went extras there is a guy out there that could give you 5 innings. Guillen would have brought that guy in for one inning.
