  1. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Apr 1, 2010 -> 06:29 PM) I found a lot of the Prime 9 picks and the order strange, Fisk's debut over Buehrle's perfect game..........Oh well, it is a good show though. I did not really agree with the order. 93 Bo was bigger than 83 as far as a moment goes but 83 team won by almost 20 games that was impressive and should have been noted. I thought 2005 as a whole would have been a good moment the El Duque thing was big but they all should have been one great moment with either 83 or 93 replacing the El Duque one and then they should have been reordered. The Thomas HR thing was a little off and not a fan of the Banies HR but I think those were great player moments. Glad they left off 1919. I gotta say sometimes I forget how big a part of this organization Hawk Harrelson is.......I like that.
  2. QUOTE (hogan873 @ Apr 2, 2010 -> 06:19 AM) No one wants to wish the weekend away, but Monday can't come soon enough. I haven't been as fired up about the start of baseball season in a long time. 2006?
  3. It's a split squad as well I beleive. Remeber this when Snell throws a two hitter later this month.
  4. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 1, 2010 -> 02:03 PM) So Kane all of a sudden lost muscle and went back to being skinny? Got it. Yes as the season goes along a player will lose some of things that they gained in the offseason as they are not able to work as hard or often as they could in the offseason.
  5. QUOTE (The Critic @ Apr 1, 2010 -> 09:23 AM) The first toe save Niemi made was spectacular, and the left-to-right stop he made (the third great save) was even better. Those saves on the 5-on-3 were game-changers. I'm not saying Niemi is Ken Dryden, but he's easily the better of the two choices the Hawks have. Damning with faint praise? Maybe. We'll see soon enough. I agree that the 5 on 3 could be a turning point as it could have gone the way of the Washington 5 on 3 a couple of weeks back but I think those were saves NHL goalies make. The other two saves on that situation hit him in teh shoulder and allowed rebounds. If he plays like he did last night they have a shot if the offense picks it up.
  6. Liked the game but come on it was Minnesota. The defense looked good but I would say that the spectacular saves Neimi made according to the tv were nothing all that great. He still flops around way to much for me to consider him anything above ok. The fourth line saved them again and I am starting to think that all of the offseason work Kane did that we heard about earlier in the year is gone. Other than Sharp the top two lines of this team look really tired.
  7. I had a dream last night that at 10:20 PM KW called me and I was living at my parents house. I was 32 years old and was traded to the Seattle Mariners for Rudy Jarmilllio. I was really pissed and told him I was going to retire. At 12:00 I tried to get the caller id to work to call him back and let me know I was ok with the trade but could not get the caller id to work. I got ahold of soembody that was not KW, it was a 630 number...then I woke up.
  8. Spring Training is useful for those trying to make or stay on the team. See Dolsi, Cabrerra, Santos...... Where is Freddy in this, nowhere but I think he could be in trouble quickly.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 31, 2010 -> 03:44 PM) I wonder how many innings it will take before people are calling for Hudson to replace Garcia? I will say four starts.
  10. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Mar 31, 2010 -> 03:02 PM) ESPN is just basically saying F you to all non east coast teams... granted I haven't checked every game they've shown, but all the ones I've seen have featured the Mets, NYY or Boston Red Sox and while flipping through the channels I have seen multiple times on BBTN that they have had 2 rotating members of ESPN Radio in NY on the set... Well, guess like my MLBN viewership over ESPN will be 100% this year instead of 95%... it's just ridiculous... Since 1/1/2009 there is no reason to watch ESPN for baseball. The products are not even comparable. The talent on the MLBN is light years ahead of ESPN. Is Fernando Vina still hanging in there?
  11. QUOTE (Real @ Mar 31, 2010 -> 03:17 PM) garcia pitching again? why isnt peavy pitching? this is becoming odd Indians would face him again next Wednesday. Also get him a game closer to his first start next wednesday and not have a week off.
  12. QUOTE (Downtown518 @ Mar 31, 2010 -> 01:17 PM) I don't want to start a thread for this question, so I will just post it here: Does anyone know what number the front row is in sections 157,158,106,107? These are the outfield sections behind the bullpens, if I remember correctly the rows don't start with 1 in these sections. Thanks! LF is 10 I think not sure about RF
  13. What are the M's going to do with Bradley, Griffey and Sweeney.
  14. QUOTE (Benchwarmerjim @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 10:27 PM) and FWIW, Fransisco Liriano was pretty much named the #5 starter for the Twins this year. There had been talk of him in the closer role. His first start of the season will be in Chicago Well we know when Vizquel will lead off and DH.
  15. A couple of things. Everyone appears to be ending up in the hospital in the alt timeline. I actually am liking these as I think they are all going to end up meaning something. Mikael was a nice touch The episode I thought advacned the plot pretty well although I thought smokey killing everyone at the temple meant the war was already on. We also learn that Widmore and Ben are fighting for the same thing and against Smokey. The line about Smokey going to Hydra island was great. Anyone think Sayid was shot with the medicine used to fight off the sickness?
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 02:46 PM) Who does that put into the kitties 5th starter spot? Willis? Galaragga? Willis I guess Galaragga was sent down.

    Baconnaise!

makes making a blt much easier. I love a good blt.
  18. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 12:52 PM) And had there been even decent defense at 3B, Wood's 20K game would have also been a no-hitter. I have to go with Wood, such a dominant performance. If that play is made it is a no hitter but it may have only have been a 19 K performance. Which is better to have a no hitter or a 20 K performance.
  19. I have been a member for a while and do not recall a SWAG gig. I shall gladly contribute next Tuesday depending on how next Monday goes.
  20. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 29, 2010 -> 04:08 PM) Man.. really explains how terrible Riggleman was back then in handling pitching staffs and bullpens. I believe he was very good as far as lineups and using his bench. Pitch counts were not talked about as much back then as they are now.
  21. Does anyone know anything about Josh Mora and Comcast? I heard a rumor that he was being pushed aside becasue he was critical of the Tallon firing. If true, sounds familiar doesn't it.
  22. It is the 100th anniversary of the president throwing out the first pitch. Why do it for the Nationals though. I understand he resides in Washington D.C.
  23. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 29, 2010 -> 04:44 PM) Then they sure to talk about him a TON for someone they don't even value. All I ever hear if Castro, Vitters, and Colvin. I wish we were deep enough that a 23-year-old who hits .300 with 14 jacks, and 7 triples in 84 games in AA is not anyone significant to us. The cubs never talk up all of their minor leaguers as if they were phenoms. He may be the next Corey Patterson or dare I say Felix Pie.
  24. The John McDonough (sp?) philosophy is looking to be as successful for the Hawks as it was for the cub. Use high priced free agents to market your winning mindset, watch ticket prices sky rocket. He is percieved as a genius for resurrecting both organizations. The thing is, he does not spend money wisely and cripples the franchise but he builds enough of a "scene" that the revenue is there to support it. The Leno appearance was a prime example of marketing over winning. Seems the team may be buying into the hype. We shall see if it pays off. This all could be an overeaction but it is a feeling I have always had about the situation with upper management of the Hawks.
