  1. title blatantly stolen from The Daily Show I voted several weeks ago by mail. I think I prefer that to in-person. It gave me time to sit down with the actual ballot and look into the various lower-profile races (county board, forest preserve, judge retention) QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 4, 2014 -> 07:22 AM) Co-posting in both threads: http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/final-...ing-the-senate/ Nate Silver's final analysis gives the Republicans a 76.2 chance of taking the Senate, with 53 Republican seats (22.5%) and 52 Republican seats (21.4%) being the most likely outcomes. Nate has the Kansas race as the only one without an at least 2:1 favorite. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 4, 2014 -> 08:01 AM) Here's the Princeton Election Consortium's probabilities: http://election.princeton.edu/ Overall giving Dems a 35% =/- 15% chance of holding the Senate. One thing that throws a wrench in the probabilities is who the Kansas independent might caucus with if he wins.

  3. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 3, 2014 -> 11:18 PM) Frank Gore is absolutely killing my team. I'm finally going to sit him next week in favor of either Charlie Sims, Tre Mason, or if I can pull off a trade, Arian Foster. With all the Tony Romo injuries, I'm trying to dump both Romo and Dez Bryant or Terrance Williams on someone because god forbid Brandon Weeden gets more playing time, all those players will be useless. Foster is on aa bye next week
  4. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 3, 2014 -> 04:39 PM) Nothing back here all weekend? Really? Anyone else get absolutely f***ed by Rivers? Or have Big Ben on the bench again? I got aided by a terrible Rivers performance.
  5. I will be pretty surprised if Republicans don't come out of this year's election with control of the Senate. If a couple of races (Louisiana and one other) are close enough, they'll go to run-offs and we might not know who has control until December or January, but I still expect them to control. PEC has it at 40% +/- 15% Dems holding the Senate , Nate Silver's group has it more around 35% Dem control with a smaller +/-. I expect the trend to continue of substantially more people actually voting for Democrats for the House but Republicans retaining control because of a combo of gerrymandering and natural demographics clustering dem voters, which is amplified by locking us in at 435 reps since the 1920's or 30's.
  6. QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Nov 3, 2014 -> 03:36 PM) Regarding background checks: Is there typically a certain time a potential employer looks at a person's background? I thought I had heard it's 7 years; however, the place in which I currently have an offer from asks "have you EVER been convicted". I took a plea bargain for a DUI 10 years ago. I know the proper thing to do is to put it on there, right? Depends on the employer. And not all background checks are equal. Safest bet is to list it probably.
  7. AP Exclusive: Ferguson no-fly zone aimed at media
  8. Jim Crow returns Millions of minority voters threatened by electoral purge Matching names is enough to raise suspicion. That is absurd. But hey, good thing Roberts gutted the VRA with antebellum state's rights arguments. more
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 30, 2014 -> 03:35 PM) Congrats on falling upward man!
  10. Making it harder to track people coming from Ebola areas and with aa risk of exposure is dumb. That's what Australia's policy does, ergo it is dumb.
  11. Dumb overreaction more likely to make matters worse than better.
  12. I know Reddy, who was volunteering with the clean up, wasn't too happy with the Red Cross and other big-name groups.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 28, 2014 -> 06:28 PM) science experiments
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 28, 2014 -> 08:14 AM) One thing we always did when our Malamute(and later, my lab) was nipping and biting was we always offered a bone or a toy. She caught on pretty quick. Brittanys are pretty smart, im sure she will figure it out That's what we did, and now whenever he's really excited (in the mornings, when we come home from work) he runs and grabs a toy first
  15. QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 28, 2014 -> 06:37 AM) I'll share some photos of my lil rescue looks just like one of ours
  16. Another two point loss in my work league, now 4-4. Three of those losses are from aa combined 7 points.
  17. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 27, 2014 -> 04:11 PM) I don't buy this completely because there have been some FANTASTIC play designs this year that have gone for easy touchdowns. Play calling has been an issue here and there, but execution is far and away the biggest problem. Jay getting rattled and refusing to check other options is part of that. When you hear guys like Gannon and Young saying it's about the QB, not the system, I tend to believe them. They had success with it. Why can't Jay? I have a problem with what seems to be a large number of 3rd down passing routes that a a yard or two short of the marker. Gannon and Young had success with a system over a decade ago. The NFL changes and what works then doesn't necessarily work now.
  18. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Oct 21, 2014 -> 11:08 PM) This one would have. http://www.arizonadailyindependent.com/201...caught-on-tape/ So it turns out that this was a completely routine case of someone from a liberal group that collects absentee ballots turning them in. Whoops. http://lwvaz.org/files/voter_fraud_no_it_is_not.pdf http://www.azcentral.com/story/news/arizon...llots/17756311/ This quote is from the Republican official who originally reported this illegal ballot-box stuffing routine absentee ballot delivery. This is how he chooses the describe the guy dropping off the ballots: But really, here's the best part from the AZ Central story: lol
  19. he has the most British name possible
  20. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 26, 2014 -> 12:49 PM) Lynch, v. Jackson, torrey Smith and m. Bennett all rolling zero points for me right now. So bennett ended up pulling through but the rest of those guys plus Cam Newton sunk my team. Short of getting 18 out of Morris tonight, it's another loss.
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 27, 2014 -> 09:14 AM) With Jay, for me he has regressed to the absolute worst Jay that we could have possibly imagined. Locking on targets, forgetting that anyone but Marshall is on the field, not protecting the ball, interceptions.
