  1. QUOTE(Princess Dye @ May 19, 2005 -> 12:37 PM) i've gotta say Patterson makes sense.... the only one i would switch is Politte for Marte not that i think Marte has been awful or anything, but it's time to credit Cliff ........ middle relievers barely get noticed , their only chance is something like this! Politte was on that list.
  2. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ May 19, 2005 -> 02:18 PM) my top 5 were 1. Frank Thomas 2. Carlton Fisk 3. Black Jack 4. Mark Buehrle 5. Carlos Lee 6. Sammy Sosa Hey, why is that in green? Such promise. And what a Jherri-Curl!
  3. Call me crazy, but I see this guy sticking in the big leagues. Maybe, with enough hard work, he might get an All-Star nod or 2. MVP award? That's a bit much. 2? STOP YOURSELF!

    Marte

    1 IP, 1 H, 2K's, 20 pitches thrown. Well, it's a start. Keep it up, Damaso.

    Marte

Something else I noticed, starting with last year is his velocity. He used to pop 95-96 on his fastball. Now on a good night, it may get to 92. It's only 2-3 miles, but like his effectiveness, it's sorely missed.

I know he's not hurt (at least I don't think he's hurt), but ever since he signed his deal last year, the guy hasn't been the same pitcher. He used to be lights-out and by far the best reliever on this staff, but he's not the same anymore. Everytime he's up there, he's 3-0, 3-1 on hitters, and giving up extra base hits or walking people. I know his ERA is in the mid 2 range, but everytime I see him, it seems like he always misses his spots. To be honest, everyone is worried about Shingo being the least productive reliever. I think at this time, it's Damaso. Whatever it is, I hope he figures it out and soon. Losing this one tonight hurt.
  7. QUOTE(YASNY @ May 16, 2005 -> 08:49 AM) After reading this column, I had a few things I wanted to say to MR. Mariotti. Here's my email to him. No response from him as of yet. Great e-mail YASNY. Don't expect a response.
  8. 5&10 guys? That's easy: Frank Thomas. He's the only guy on the squad whose been on the team for 5 yrs, & in the league for 10.
  9. Damnit! And Valido was my adopted prospect too. :banghead
  10. QUOTE(longshot7 @ May 12, 2005 -> 04:48 PM) recap for those of us stuck at work? Here ya go: PTI did their "5 good minutes segment" on the Sox (White, not Red), & interviewed Kenny Williams. Quick recap: * KW admitted the Sox lost some of their "sexiness" when they traded CLee in the offseason. No mention of Mags, honestly; none needed. * He also said that Ozzie is a good fit for this team, and the players respond to him. He joked he may not fit the model for other business ventures, but for this team, he's on par. * He said the Sox and Cubs are 2 different types of atmosphere in Chicago. Mainly, a "we're doing our thing, & they're doing their thing" type. He realizes that the Sox are the 2nd team in town, but the main focus for this team is White Sox fans and nothing more. He said to truly earn the respect, they'll need a couple of World Series championships to accomplish the feat. * Finally, he and Kornheiser teased Wilbon about his South Side roots, yet being a Cubs fan. KW rocks! For those that missed it, PTI is replayed on ESPN News in 1 hour.
  11. QUOTE(Steff @ May 12, 2005 -> 03:28 PM) The guillotine would be on standby waiting for him to return to town... Has anyone seen my hooded mask?
  12. I will admit, I'm worried about them facing Prior. From the way he's been pitching this year, that's gonna be a tough one. If those matchups do remain the same, then I hope El Duque can match him pitch for pitch, 'cause I don't see the Sox scoring alot of runs in that matchup.
  13. QUOTE(Yoda @ May 9, 2005 -> 05:55 PM) So now it’ll be between Urbina and Farnsworth to close games out for the Tigers? Somewhere, Jim Hendry is crying.
  14. QUOTE(Benson&Rexage @ May 4, 2005 -> 09:08 AM) I hate reggie miller and the colts Go bears go sox Get well Hawk Detached Renta NO Eye surgery Mercy!! Reggie Miller, Kerry Wood, Peyton Manning= chicks with dicks
  15. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't move Rooney to the TV broadcasts, Bryan Dolgin to replace him on the radio PBP (since he did PBP for the Jackhammers), & bring in Carmen DeFalco to do pre/post.
  16. I don't think it's cause for concern, but it is interesting that Widger's shot off of Zito was the last home run hit by the Sox. Here's hoping they break that mini-drought today off of Ledezma and the Tigers bullen.

QUOTE(SuperSteve @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 05:21 PM) Abreu makes like $12 Well I've got $20 in my pocket. I'm willing to sacrifice it for the good of the team!
  18. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 11:07 AM) Guys that was sarcasm... Then why wasn't typed in this lovely color, hmm? J/K, I knew it was sarcasm.
  19. Even though I didn't have a problem with what Ozzie said about Mags before, this was probably the top brass telling him to tone it down since he's taken a beating in the press.
  20. Great work on the entire list.
  21. Ugh, what is it about short right field where our fielders forget how to play? 2 yrs ago, it was Jimenez dropping an easy popup for a 3 run error. Yesterday, it was Dye dropping a fly for an error. Let's get the win today and get the hell out of that craphole.
  22. Williams declares too. And with them, goes 93% of that offense.
