QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Apr 20, 2017 -> 10:57 AM) Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal now Source: MLB has cleared free-agent Cuban outfielder Luis Robert to sign with a club. What is the time frame on this again? I was under the impression that it would be closer to June 15th until he signs. Is this like an any day type of thing?

I think its a hell of a lot easier and safer to say, Avi will come back around to the old Avi soon enough and will remain a bad baseball player in the very near future. But I dont think it HAS to be ridiculous and be solely reactionary to be excited that this guy may have turned the corner. Its happened before and will happen again where a guy finally "gets it" far later than expected. I am pulling for the dude.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 19, 2017 -> 02:05 PM) Matt MillerVerified account @nfldraftscout 3h3 hours ago “If you believe the Bears want a QB (at 3), I got a bridge in Arizona for you” - An NFL executive to me today It should not be this hard for my brain to understand what the f*** you are referring to when you say something like this.

LOL How Avi has become a must watch at bat is just unbelievable. What kind of bizarre world are we living in with the Bulls up 2-0, the Hawks down 3-0, and Avi leading a second place whitesox team? These things will all come back to reality eventually(maybe not the Hawks) but hey its why we love sports.

Could it possibly be the evolution of Avi's swing coming to fruition the same way as Donaldson's. Avi pulling that ball for the bomb last night was the biggest eye opener to me. He hasnt been able to pull for power in all the time he has been here.

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 19, 2017 -> 07:14 AM) Deuces He was a bad dude. The world would have been better off he did this a long time ago.

This is fun. I will admit.
-
I think it was always likely we would see a a entirely different group of teams in the mix bidding for Q by the deadline then what was during the off season.
-
QUOTE (Special K @ Apr 18, 2017 -> 02:00 PM) Meadows is probably off the table in a Q trade. Starling Marte hit up w/ an 80 game suspension. Daaaaaaaaaaaaaayum.

Smith did hit a ball hard last night. I will give him credit for that.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 18, 2017 -> 12:25 PM) I hate USPS. UPS transferred a package to the post office yesterday at 5 AM and it's still sitting there. Deliver that s***!! USPS reading Sqwerts post on top of said package.

Update: Luis Robert has been cleared according to Rosenthal

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Apr 18, 2017 -> 12:18 PM) Sox do have money to spend, but I can't see them going nuts in a bidding war either Teams already over have more incentive to continue to spend, but I would not rule the White Sox out if they feel strongly enough about him Thats just it. If they are loving this guy I can totally see them going all in on a bidding war. They have money to spend and this guy fits in like a glove as far as age to this rebuild. If they arent totally sold on him I dont think they will get him though because you will have to pay greatly to outbid the other teams. -

Likely to clear before June 15th...says this article. http://www.baseballamerica.com/internation...er-luis-robert/ -
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Apr 18, 2017 -> 11:09 AM) So would Avi Garcia. I think Avi has been great and I am really happy for him. He has put in a lot of work and it seems to be paying off greatly. I was one of his stronger supporters until about the middle of last season when I gave up on him. With that being said I dont think Avi will ever be a really strong trade piece unless he is going to stay among the league leaders offensively. He is just way too much of a liability in the outfield and unless he is producing consistent elite level offensive numbers his value will level out because he is atrocious defensively.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 15, 2017 -> 05:30 PM) Prayers going out to Todd Heap and his family. Can't even imagine.. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.washington...r-old-daughter/ This is beyond my worst nightmare. I dont think my body would be able to handle a tragedy like this. The inner torment that he is going through has to be unbearable.

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Apr 17, 2017 -> 04:05 PM) Robertson's contract will look more palatable at the trade deadline to a contending team in need of bullpen help Washington makes too much sense, but they are totally unwilling at this point to trade more of their top prospects Nothing is going to happen until we get to at least striking distance of the trade deadline but we are going to have guys screaming trade _____fill in the blank every time someone on the suck list has a good week. Its going to be the theme of this first half, me thinks.
-
One thing that is already driving me crazy is the notion of whenever a player has a good game or week the tendency of a bunch of fans to say TRADE HIM NOW like that is at all the way that things work, especially two weeks into the season.
-
Saladino's play dictating where Moncada plays? Holy s***.
-
I enjoyed the first game, I really did, but it is so hard for me to genuinely like this team when I know I have hated them the entire season. I have hated the coaching, their attitude, the FO, ownership, the trades made, the trades they didnt make, the inconsistency, the effort, the style of play, the media relations, and everything in between. My fan sensibility is telling me to buy in like I always do and be behind them all out but I feel like I need to draw the line this time.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 17, 2017 -> 01:44 PM) Anyone who dislikes hashtags is a communist. Scientifically proven. I do get uncomfortable when older people use an inappropriate amount of ht's for everything. Or when my dad uses one within a text that he sends me. Its like, Dad, this isnt quite the place for a ht. And the worst part is that I am pretty old myself at 35 and I even know when and where to use them.
-
Get it done Dutch.
-
People who think its because he has nothing to play for quite frankly havent followed him throughout his career enough. The guy doesnt even have that in his DNA as far as I have seen. The Sox havent had much to play for the past few years and he has been a consistent beast. He has had his contract for a while and it hasnt slowed him. But after a couple starts you draw that conclusion? That is foolish.

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 13, 2017 -> 04:28 PM) That surprises me because I thought the pirates fans were the best of all of the Q/winter run-ins. Many wanted to put all the chips in. Thats what makes it pretty sick of me to have this mindset. There are a ton of good Pirate fans but I have identified a couple that have rubbed me the wrong way that I dont care about the others, I just want those two guys to have to eat their words. LOL

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Apr 14, 2017 -> 09:44 AM) Rain has gone from 90% at game time last night to 60% this morning. Progress. Sunday may be the only game they get in. You are such a pessimistic dude, ChiSox59. LOL -
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 13, 2017 -> 04:16 PM) I would rather see them be competitive/potential buyers than suck and not be in the mix in the summer. I know man. I am just being petty. And they arent off to THAT bad of a start but its been bad enough for them to realize they need more.
