  1. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 15, 2016 -> 02:52 PM) If I were Rockies I'd be after Nate Jones much more than Robertson. If I were any team that needed bullpen help I would be after Jones over Robertson.
  2. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 15, 2016 -> 02:12 PM) The White Sox aren't forfeiting any draft picks. They want to trade everyone. How is this still not clear for people? If Rick Hahn had it his way, he would have made 4 more trades right now. They want to be terrible this year. And they should be. During down time ST minds wander into strange thoughts, much like a typical persons brain wanders throughout the day. Like today when I was staring at the bamboo plant on my desk and I was thinking if maybe it will grow to be like 6 feet tall. I have no idea if this is scientifically possible considering its in my office. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't but for damn sure I know that it isn't likely.
  3. QUOTE (brett05 @ Dec 15, 2016 -> 02:30 PM) Craig Sager lost his battle at age 65 God this saddens me.
  4. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 15, 2016 -> 11:44 AM) According to Bob Nightengale, Rockies are in discussions with Encarnacion and Trumbo. Where did he say that? I dont see anything about that on his twitter.
  5. QUOTE (Sonik22 @ Dec 15, 2016 -> 09:33 AM) Problem is she still thinks itd be fun to go. I was at that previous coldest game against the packers in 08. Woof. It's a fun game of trying to drink your beer before it freezes. Yeah that game sucks. I've been there for games that were at least above 10 degrees and it was still torture. my ass was so frozen that I didnt even know my pants were falling down.
  6. QUOTE (SouthSidePride05 @ Dec 14, 2016 -> 12:57 PM) Although I think you're not supposed to be flying out to Nashville from Midway on Sunday morning, I think you will be flying out to Nashville from Midway on Sunday morning. God damn, I am totally confused now.
  7. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 14, 2016 -> 12:15 PM) Other teams could still get involved on Quintana. Nearly every contender could use him I know, I was just making the point that its not quite the Definition of posturing.
  8. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 14, 2016 -> 12:13 PM) I don't care. Obviously the Sox can afford it. I'm just saying that's a lot of money for a pitcher like him. That's all. You care Mike...you care...
  9. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 14, 2016 -> 12:06 PM) This tweet is the definition of posturing. The Sox are using Nightengale to try and up the Astros' offer. I guess but I would think the more efficient posturing would be to feed Nightengale info about other teams being involved, not just the Astro's are the Sox favorite potential partners just not offering enough. They could just tell the Astros that themselves.
  10. I am supposed to be flying out to Nashville from Midway on Sunday morning. My question is...Do you guys think I will be flying out to Nashville from Midway on Sunday morning?
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 14, 2016 -> 09:38 AM) They seem to have zero regard for the future roster in these deals, and everything about how they are ranked. It seems like that so far but I am confident they will shift focus to position players in the very near future. I certainly didnt want them to go only position player talent with complete disregard of their future pitching staff. Pitching is still priority for putting together a winning formula.
  12. QUOTE (FLsouthsider @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 09:12 AM) I'm thinking the Sox might hang on to Quintana this season. Next year's free agent class of SPs is nothing special so it wouldn't be all that surprising if he stuck around another year and then Hahn can move the crown jewel of the winter meetings for a second straight year. Although God only knows the kind of defense Q would be pitching in front of here. And if he thought run support was bad before ... No I am really confident Hahn is going to trade Q before spring training at the latest. Hahn is all out rebuild mode and will not risk having him get injured or show decline in performance to hurt his value. Q is going to be gone we just need the right package to come along and now teams are posturing. Its simple and is what should be expected.
  13. I know I will get ripped by all the metrics people but this means nothing to me personally. I know what I seen from him last year and it was pretty damn encouraging. Now he may have a down year come next year with pitchers making adjustments and the team probably overall sucking as a whole may lead to some lack of intensity everyday from him. We have known that his walk rate would be something of an issue for him, hopefully he continues to work on that.
  14. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 04:13 PM) Saves are pretty irrelevant. That has much more to do with how good of a team you're on. Save % is probably a better metric to look at. Saves, and ERA would definitely be factors, but not the main criteria is analyzing a closer. FIP, as has been mentioned probably is the best. K/9, WHIP, and BB/9 are pretty important for closers as well. Yeah, thanks for that. This would have been a good response to peppers post. Just saying.
  15. Saves and ERA isnt a bad thing to look at though, you just have much more to take into account as well. You guys are being jerks about it.
  16. QUOTE (HeGone7 @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 03:58 PM) I agree with you. This board is a small sample size of the fanbase. Much of what I have heard has been contrary to the excitement that the OP wrote. A large contingency of every fan base sees things differently from the rest. They care more about the star players, the team, going to games and couldn't care less about prospects. Those people are the ones who are sad about Sale and Eaton, eventually the rest. I heard so many people call into 670/1000 that sounded genuinely depressed and since they don't follow prospects, it's confusing to them what we're doing. They just see it as get rid of the bad guys and add more good ones. Or worse, they like guys like Saladino who don't belong in a lineup everyday for a WS caliber team. Using my own personal relationships as an example, my dad is old school. He doesn't care about the sabermetrics or prospects and what not. It was irrevelant to him growing up so it isn't something he proactively wants to learn. He thinks the front office kept messing up and this is the result. That group of people are the unhappy ones. They aren't going to suddenly become guys who follow prospects or dive deeper into stats - they're just going to be angry. To your point, it's going to get uglier before it gets better. This board will reflect the fanbase on the outside just as you are describing. Its not going to stay all sugar plums and ice cream for very long here.
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 03:25 PM) Yes but I wasn't happy about it. get used to it, it only gets worse.
  18. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 11:44 AM) Who is this guy again? SportsMockery I think which would mean he has absolutely NO CREDIBILITY at all.
  19. Maybe the Giants are a fit for Frazier? http://www.knbr.com/2016/12/07/brisbee-gia...r-todd-frazier/
  20. I think they are excited now but the truth will show once we suck next season and when the prospects we got in return have some bad months and struggle. There will be the same people who are cheering this now jumping ship as soon as it starts hurting.
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 10:23 AM) Most I've seen says his market won't be defined until after Jansen/Chapman signed. 50% there. Some have hinted that people think his stuff declined last year so he is not as hot as he once was. I really hope we didn't receive more in July. I think people will be surprised how much we get back for Robertson. There is going to be some really desperate teams out there needing bullpen help and will be willing to roll the dice even with Robertson who is no sure thing.
  22. QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 10:13 AM) What's the market for Robertson looking like right now? I'm too lazy to read all the threads to figure it out, lol It will be a great market once Jansen signs.
  23. Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 1h1 hour ago On the #WhiteSox best values list, Adam Eaton currently ranks No. 2 behind Jose Quintana. Nate Jones is 3rd. Chris Sale was No. 1.
  24. Scott Merkin ‏@scottmerkin 6m6 minutes ago Maryland, USA I'm fascinated by how jubilant White Sox fan base is over the early stages of the rebuild. They truly wanted clear direction to embrace Scott Merkin ‏@scottmerkin 11m11 minutes ago Maryland, USA Here's something you haven't heard in a bit: If/when this deal goes through, White Sox would have a Top 10 farm system in baseball Scott Merkin ‏@scottmerkin 14m14 minutes ago Maryland, USA They also are coming off of an excellent 2016 Draft class and international signing period Scott Merkin ‏@scottmerkin 16m16 minutes ago Maryland, USA White Sox are about to add the No. 1 (Moncada), No. 3 (Giolito), No. 30 (Kopech) and No. 38 (Lopez) prospects per http://MLBPipeline.com
