  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 10:41 AM) Ed Jackson is a guy who could defenitely find his way to Chicago in a deal. The Rays want to dump him badly from the sounds of it. Kw thinks he can always get somoene else disgards and turn them into all stars. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. would love crawford... is baldelli a free agent or not? I know he has medical issues, but I am sure tampa would want to dump him.
  2. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 02:51 PM) Wonder if they'll start Brandon out in AA or AAA next season. And at least quickman will be happy to see Whisler off the 40 man roster now. Thank you DBAHO, yes another one of our failed prospects whom people fell in love with. As long as people fall in love with them on this board, it should seal their fate PS and I apologize in advance for intermixing threads but didn't we burn a third round pick on a third baseman (morel) and now we have a very young starting third baseman and a brand new up an comer in this Cuban guy, seems like a waste of a 3rd round pick. I hope one of them works out.
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 14, 2008 -> 07:28 PM) Get on the phone KW, I would love Peavy. there are only a few teams he will go too and approve and I believe all of them are in the national league.
  4. Don't know if this request belongs here. I am looking for some pictures of this years cubs Dodger series, Specifically of fans crying or pissed, a picture of the scoreboard with a losing score, stuff like this. Anyone have anything or can you point me to a place on the site?
  5. He would get batteries thrown at him in New York. I think his days are numbered here unless he comes back and pitches a shutout in a world series game. Its day to day.
  6. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 09:10 AM) I don't think hood and defalco are the popular white sox call in shows. but they are both sox fans
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 27, 2008 -> 06:15 PM) Vazquez has to be one of the most disappointing players in Sox history, all things considered. navarro beats him but most likley the same attitude
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 27, 2008 -> 06:11 PM) They just did with our pathetic offense. I can't see how Vazquez stays on this team next year. The fans will not tolerate this.
  9. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 05:13 PM) First off, Dye didn't call the fans ignorant. Second, read these boards for a while, and you can understand where that thought would come from, even if he didn't say it. This whole topic is totally ignorant. There are posts in here talking about shipping both Dye and Konerko away, but keeping Cabrera, because Cabrera is a "leader". Really? So because all you see if a guy talking to the media, instead of keeping it in the clubhouse, he is a leader? Because Dye and Konerko don't whore themselves out to the media, and keep things "in house", they aren't "leaders"? Bulls***. I really don't know whether I would call OC a leader. I do think he appears he actaully cares about winning or losing or playing hard. I guess I like that. Swisher sulks, konerko is a big baby, and Griffey never offered much leadership in other places, why would he here. I would love for griffey to come out and say, look guys I really want to win, I am dying to win, Lets make this happen. Can you imagine Clemens acting like Vasquez, and yes I knwo clemens was a jerk and did roids, but hell , he pitched like a bulldog, so did gibson, seaver, cone, black Jack Mcdowell, sabbathia, and on and on. We need more assholes like these guys.We need gamers.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 05:03 PM) Mike Sweeney is another good example. They tried to force him to be the captain and the face of the Royals, but he always resisted. Of course, he was great with the fans, always signed autographs...but Muser once said, sometimes we need LEADERS. "Chewing on cookies and eating milk and praying is not going to get it done," former Royals manager Tony Muser said. "I'd like them to go out and pound tequila … " Part of this was due to Sweeney's overt Christianity, but the essence was that being a nice guy alone and even being loved by the fans wasn't enough. Of course, the examples of Everett and Rowand will always be cited here, and juxtaposed with "nice guys" like Jermaine, Thome, Konerko...but for whatever reason, and maybe you can attribute it to AJ's attitude as well...we just don't have that killer instinct anymore, Ozzie is losing ground year by year in the clubhouse with these same players. They really need to start over again with some fresh blood and revitalize with even more youth, without tremendously overpaying. And that's hard to due, because we don't have many prospects left to trade and many spare parts on our major league roster that can be taken out. It's going to be one of those head-scratching, Pods/Carlos Lee "addition by subtraction" moves I think. We can part ways with Cabrera and Vazquez, but it will take a bigger cut to really change the overall mentality of this team/organization. I do actaully agree with you on much of this, but why in the world would you trust the people pulling the strings to start this thing over again? Why do the sox not pitch inside? why don't they get gamers to brush people back? Kubel and Gomez should have been knocked on there asses. We have a bunch of pussies running the game and squad and they certianly bark alot in the papers but don't play with much heart. You see I think that is exactly what OC was saying. Where is the KILL. Go out and kill them. Scratch claw, bite swear, kick and scream, just kill them.
  11. Maybe you should just stay home and watch it. You could save gas money and concession money as well. Now I fully understand the difference between our fans and cub fans.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 04:20 PM) Things are getting very ugly between Ozzie and OC. I really, really hope this s*** doesn't prevent us from offering him arbitration. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...-ssep26.article Do you think pinella would go to the press like this. ozzie should shut up just like everyone said OC should be quiet. ozzie's ego is even bigger than OC's ego. I find it amazing that this is coming out with 4 games left. What a crap team.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 08:22 PM) I actually have respect for him for delivering this message. Everyone else has been too busy acting scared of Minnesota. Besides Ozzie, he is the only guy I have heard call out this team to step up and win some games. Good for OC. I agree, I also think Konerko needed to step up but he is too busy feeling sorry for himself. Konerko is a terrible leader. Hopefully he will be gone next year.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 06:51 PM) Anyone think this could be the beginning of the end of Javy's White Sox career? fathom if Ozzie is worried about Javy's intensity in a regular season game, just think about a playoff game. the intensity is not even close yet. furthermore, the whitesox seem to be putting more and more pressure on themselves, like they are scared to go to minni, rather than going to minni, with the idea that they will be the better team. this starts with ozzie, I actaully think he is scared of the twins at the dome.
  15. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 12:57 PM) And they will probably end up with Tony Batista. remember the Twins will have alot more money next year as they open the new stadium. They will also want to make a big splash with some sort of free agent to kick off the new stadium era. The Twins will be a thorn in our side for awhile.
  16. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 02:25 PM) You could well be right, considering they traded LaRoche. Casey Blake could be on the SouthSide next season as well also. completely agree, Blake will come and play here next year with some kind of two year deal. Quite frankly I think its a good fit and nice stop gap, until Beckham is ready, and yes I think Beckham may play third if he can fill out. Again all hunches.
  17. QUOTE (YASNY @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 12:28 PM) You nailed it. I could see that being the case if the sox were at home against the cubs during the week, but they are at wrigely, which is sold out every game anyway, still doesn't compute. usually these games are on national TV over the weekend. Seems silly to have them during the week at wrigley. Sorry Didn't see the posts afterwards saying the same thing.
  18. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 01:59 PM) If Uribe could hit like this for the next couple of seasons, I'd love him at 3rd. I just don't think he can sustain it for a long period of time though. Beltre or Atkins would be a decent option IMHO, if the price was right. Figgins also, especially if the Angels went after Crede. I truly believe Crede will play for the dodgers next year not the angels. call it a hunch, but lets see what happens.
  19. QUOTE (The Beast @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 11:03 AM) I look forward to the day where I don't have to hear Hawk's voice or see his beak-like nose on the television. I hope DJ says no to the Sox and goes to the Cubs or some rival of ours, because I can't stand the s*** that the Sox pull on people in the media. Oh well---here's to me wanting a younger voice when watching the Sox games. I wish DJ the best in wherever he goes. What exactly are hte sox pulling on people? Steve stone is arguably the best color man in the game. He wants to work TV not radio. I applaud the sox for securing him for six years. Hawk has been with us since Reinsdorf bought the team. You can argue he is getting old or even is fickle sometimes, but he is the whitesox. years ago people were complaining about DJ, and quite frankly he does nothing for me, but that said, the sox are not going to can hawk for DJ, seriously think about this. The sox offered DJ the radio gig because they want stone on TV. DJ can take it or find another job. Seems fair to me really, thats why there are contracts. When contracts are up, decisions need to be made. The radio booth has been influx for years, partly due to the Score being involved in the selecting and compensation model. You can always go and bring back Dave Wills although he may not want to come back.
  20. funny we are in first place in september in a division we thought we couldn't win, and we are complaining about the deals now. strange. I was the first to complain about the deals in the spring. I will admit I never thought we would be where we are today, but i will say we wouldn't be where we are today if we had garland, sweeney and the great GIO. So at least for this year I think they were good deals. By the way GIO SUCKS. He will never make it, and sweeney is not all that great, He is just playing on a glorified triple A team right now.
  21. well for 12 million a year I wouldn't be happy about playing well for a month. he is suppose to be a superstar. I am not happy with a 240 hitter.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 10:36 PM) Ok, "wall" reference aside, what type of schedule should Danks be on the rest of the way? Keep him on the normal 4 day rest rotation? fathom we are in a pennant race, who do you think would fair better in his place? You saw Braodway throw his 90 mile an hour heat tonight. So who would you want to replace a pitcher who has performed all year? We are one game up thats not much, why would you want another rookie to come in and start.
  23. this sounds like he should have had surgery a month ago, but they want to get something out of him in case we make the playoffs. I am not anything close to a doctor but this smells like offseason surgery to me, and no linebrink for most of next year.
  24. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 11:37 PM) Do you try and work a slam of Anderson, who's name you still can't spell, into every other damn thread? ya sure. why do you care?
  25. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 06:49 PM) Exactly. Thats where orgs like the twins kill us. Those guys are fundamentally sound from the bottom up and all know how to play once they reach the majors. Of course we are considered failures on here because we havent drafted all stars every year. so the real question if you believe its development, is why have we not changed that piece? Buddy Bell steps in, but he should be cleaning house, and the sox should be buying some better talented people. The Yankees are constantly drafting low, same with the red sox but they seem to be bringing up players who contribute. It starts with KW and it goes from there. They all need to be on the same page.
